annundriel: ([cplng] Feel Pretty)
My mother is a HORRIBLE INFLUENCE and I LOVE HER. ♥

But, oh, the crack she inspires.

Tonight we were watching the newest My Fair Wedding with David Tutera. (A sneak peek of the show. Not the episode we just watched, but it was a really good one.) Each episode begins with David meeting the bride and groom. Then he sends the groom away and we usually don't see him again until the day of.

Anyway, this new episode began and David's partway through the sit-down and Mom goes, "Is he flirting with the groom? I think he's flirting with the groom."

I wasn't paying complete attention at this point, but anything is possible. "Was he?" I asked. Then, "Oh god, that gives me fic ideas."

And Mom gets this look on her face. I asked her what she was thinking and she tells me, "I was just trying to figure out what a wedding between Dean and Cas done by David Tutera would be like."

I died.

Um. We may have spent parts of the rest of the episode then figuring out how David would plan Dean and Cas' wedding. And who David would send away after the sit-down. There was much laughter involved. Imagining their faces should such an event occur just made us laugh harder.

So yeah. I love my mom.

I also love [livejournal.com profile] dailymisha.

I feel as though I should note that the fic idea I was inspired with did not involve Dean or Castiel. And, come to think of it, actually resembles the plot of The Wedding Planner. Except less JLo and more gay.
annundriel: (New Guys (sg-1))
I have this random desire to see Vala and Jack Sparrow in fic together.
annundriel: (Jack Hands)
[livejournal.com profile] olivelavonne compares me to Clark Kent. The similarities may be surprising.

Apparently, I'm meant to "repopulate the Earth with big, tall, smart alien babies."
annundriel: (Superhero Or Something (sga))
Got diddly-squat done this weekend. Well, that's not entirely true. I got diddly-squat done school-wise this weekend. I did, however, finish reading The House With a Clock in Its Walls as well all of Howl's Moving Castle. Should have worked on papers and class reading, but I had to get HMC done or I'd do nothing but think about reading it. That plan kind of backfired when I finished it and still couldn't stop thinking about it. I'm completely enchanted by it and really wish it had been longer.

Friday Kay, the twins, and I went to Archie McPhee's. I hadn't been there in years. Tris got a sasquatch action figure since he's recently become fascinated with cryptozoology. Callie got a glider and we both got gum. The Nihilist gum was pretty funny. "We don't believe in flavor." But I had to get the Sparkle Ninja strawberry flavored gum. Because the ninja was the cutest thing. )

It's really bad that everything ever reminds me of SGA in some way. I'm looking at the gum and I see Angry Scotsman. My mind goes to Beckett. I see Super Genius gum and I think of McKay. I spot the Sparkle Ninja gum last and who do I think of? Sheppard. I...don't even know why.

(Although now I do want a sparkle ninja icon.)

Anyway, now I'm sitting here working on my Angel assignment, my Chinese scripture, and watching The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Last night we watched Brokeback Mountain. It just doesn't get any less depressing.
annundriel: (Elf! (sga))
So I'm watching the SciFi Channel (Twilight Zone, yea) and they keep showing preview for SGA. "He's more than just a team leader" ::Sheppard is goosed:: "He's a babe magnet." Or something like that. It makes me laugh. John Sheppard and Austin Powers - a small diversion in parentheses. Forgive me, I'm stressed, tired, and wired. ) Oh, Sheppard, you delightfully clueless man. "The Tower" wasn't a great episode, but JF (and most of the cast) is so much fun to watch that overall plot quality hardly matters.

They also keep showing a commercial with Edward James Olmos selling life insurance or some such. Is he not getting enough out of playing Adama that he needs to sell me things now?
annundriel: (Hmm (sga))
I'm writing my response to Book 8 of Paradise Lost and every time I write I go write "Adam" I end up typing "Adama" instead.

There should be an epic poem about Battlestar Galactica. Starring a Cylon as Satan, working to bring about the fall of human-kind by tricking Adama into eating of the fruit from the Tree of Blatant Religious Symbolism.

I don't know where to go with that. Mostly I just want to see Jamie Bamber in a fig leaf. ;)

Also, looking at BSG on IMDb.com, I'm vaguely amused by everyone's first names. Karl. Hee.

I'd like to take a quick moment to point out the subject of this post and note the fact that it was a complete accident and has made me laugh a lot harder than it really should have.

Looking Up

I've been lazy these last couple of days and done nothing but read (for pleasure) and ogle the SGA DVDs. (Shiny!) Been slowly listening to the commentaries. So far they've all been generally amusing, but something happened during the one for "Hide & Seek" that caused me to have a moment of blank staring followed by a tiny bit of OMG-ing.

Torri Higginson joined Paul McGillion and Rachel Luttrell part way through the episode and they're talking about Jinto and what does she bring up? How Jinto inspired (or something) the idea for "Atlantis, the Musical."

::blink::

Didn't I have this idea?

If someone mentions puppets, I don't know what I'm going to do.

Yesterday Natasha and I went and saw Pride & Prejudice downtown. )

Obviously, I really really liked it. A lot.

Tonight, we are going with EB and her roommate to see GoF. Woo. There was a HUGE line outside of AMC last night around 6:45 for, presumably, the midnight showing. Because AMC has decided not to sell the tickets on line. What the hell?

But now when I see Daniel Radcliffe, I keep staring at his eyebrows.

*

Veronica Mars - Nobody Puts Baby In a Corner )

Really good episode. I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to see next weeks. Sad panda.

*

Got my Burney/Wollstonecraft paper back. The one that I thought was craptastic. Turns out it wasn't. Full points. Because apparently I am a "good writer" and can incorporate what I hear in class and take notes on and know how to bring it all together with what I'm thinking. Ha.

I was so worried, and then at the beginning of class, Dr. Smith gave us this mini-lecture about how if we don't talk or don't write good papers, there's no way she can know if we're reading and give us decent grades. I totally thought I was on her bad side at this point. But no, so yea. Totally made my day.
annundriel: (Smile (sga))
So the F.C.C. song from Family Guy last night just *killed* me. It can be found here, along with a link to Eric Idle's F.C.C. song.

I can't stop laughing at "And they'll make you call fellatio a trouser-friendly kiss." I can't decide if it's because of the "trouser-friendly" part or because Stewie's the one that sings it.

Haven't laughed that hard at something for awhile.

Also caught the end of Dirty Dancing last night. Which lead to Natasha sharing a SV fanfic that was like DD. Which lead to me bringing up a parody with Jack and Daniel. Which lead to sticking Rodney in the corner. "Nobody puts Rodney in a corner." I think you can stick John and Rodney in any movie situation and they just work. Dirty Dancing, Atlantis Style )

Um. Yeah. Did I mention I'm a little sleep deprived? I totally blame whacked out AU-crossover-things on that. Except, omg, I can see it! Why is it that Sheppard and McKay fit so well into romantic comedies and movies of the '80s?

Oh! Also got to see the beginning and parts of Boa vs. Python on Sci-fi yesterday. David Hewlett! Oh, the crap I will watch just to see you.

Meeting with my adviser in 15 minutes to discuss winter quarter. I'm thinking...Ethics, Mythology, and maybe Theology/Religion level 3. But we'll see what happens come registration.
annundriel: (A Little Crazy (fs))
So we know Rodney used to play the piano.

And now we know that John has a guitar with him on Atlantis.

When are they gonna invite Joss Whedon to direct the musical?

Stargate Atlantis: The Musical! )

Must go watch Flight of the Conchords now.
annundriel: (Sigh. (sga))
Sheppard. John Sheppard. )

So, there's that. Natasha, I would like you to persuade me out of playing with this idea. Really. I don't need to write tiny scenes on scraps of paper. Or figure out just where the other SGA/SG-1 characters would fit into this. (Teyla's a sexy secret agent from another country. Daniel works on decoding things.)

In other, seriously-I'm-not-crazy news, got my driver's license renewed. Yea. Only have the temporary right now, but I don't look like a complete dork in my picture. In fact, ::gasp:: I look like me. Also bought Lost. YEA. Spent part of the evening looking for easter eggs. Actually found some, too. Go me!

Anyhoo. ::is dull::

I've taken my job back at the library. Boss e-mailed me and said I could set up my schedule after I get on campus. I'm thinking I'll probably still work nights Monday through Wednesday. I *should* work more hours, but I don't want to work more nights and I don't particularly want to work during the day. As far as I know, my coworkers in Circulation will be the same and I rather like working with them. Call nights at the library a comfort zone of sorts. Maybe I'll add an half-hour or hour onto my work schedule. I'd add more, but then I'd have to figure things out food-wise. Which wouldn't be difficult, but I'm lazy.

Tomorrow Mom and I go to Moses, where I will renew my driver's license (and still get a juvenile one, seeing as how I won't be 21 until October) and buy Lost and possibly House. We may even see The Brothers Grimm, which would be cool. I need to get out and do something other than the exact same thing I do every day. Mainly, nothing.

This week, Mom and I watched The Sure Thing with wee 19-year-old John Cusak. So cute! So feminine! It was decided that he could have been a star in Kabuki theater. Also watched the last hour or so of My Bodyguard, starring a not-so-wee 19-year-old Adam Baldwin. My god! It was ker-azy. It also had Joan Cusak with lots of hair. Then tonight Mom and I watched Die Another Day on the Spike channel and I finally realized why Star Trek is considered enough of a "guy show" to get played on Spike. The women aliens? Space bimbos. Spasluts. Even when they are respected diplomats/scientists/engineers/etc., they are sexy/slutty/wear skimpy outfits. The men aliens? Scary looking. Or Q.

So, yeah, guy show. Why's CSI on there? Stereotyping of women as people who do not want to see violence and crime-solving? Why am I asking this? *Of course* it's stereotyping; it's Spike TV. D'oh.

Have also determined this week that every show would be better if the actors were replaced with Muppets/puppets. This started while watching The Muppet Show and getting a particularly vivid picture of Stargate SG-1: The Muppet Show stuck in my head. OMG, can't you just imagine the puppet!Jaffa! With their wee-tiny staff weapons! (That's kinda dirty right there.) Daniel with his fluffy puppet hair! And wee puppet glasses! Hammond would look much like Bunson, I'm sure. And then Stargate Atlantis: The Muppet Show with puppet!Wraith and puppet!McKay flailing around like Kermit when he gets frustrated. Puppet!Zelenka would have that really floaty puppet hair that moves even when the puppet's not. And the Sheppard puppet would have stolen his hair from the Angel puppet. Ronon would look something like a miniaturized, human-ified Sweetums. It would be *fantastic* and I would watch all the time.

Lost with puppets! LotR with puppets! Firefly with puppets!

Funnily enough, the only show I can't imagine working with puppets would be Farscape. Because, you see, Rygel and Pilot are already puppets and how can you puppet-fy a puppet? You can't. Obviously it would be silly to try.

*

I'm gonna cut this next part because I'm silly and it's silly and, like, Natasha and Neesha might appreciate it, but other than that, y'all are just gonna think I'm weird. ;)

Everything I watch reminds me of Stargate )

Ahem.

Apparently the first season of SGA will be out on November 15. And then I'll really be able to watch it however, wherever, whenever I want. :) It's the small (but pricey) things in life.
annundriel: (SG-1)
This morning I had a strange dream. Dad, Grandma, Tom, and I were going to church in the winter time. We got there and parked, but the parking lot was like the one at the high school. And for some bizarre reason I was wearing a dress in the middle of winter. Freeeezing. But there was no snow. Anyway. I was the first to get out of the car, and as I'm standing there bouncing on the balls of my feet to keep warm, a car pulls into the space next to us. It's Mulder and Scully. Apparently they were having an argument, because as they were getting out of the car, Mulder was saying, "People prefer comedy, Scully, over dramas of the psyche."

Um.

He then proceeded to put on three wool coats over the one he was already wearing. Scully just looked at him (like she does) and Mulder just kind of shrugged and said, "What? I get cold easily."

And then I woke up. I have no idea what that means. Huh.

A few days ago I had a dream and it was sort of an ER/SGA crossover AU thing. The building looked like a cross between Pigott at school and Atlantis. Sheppard and McKay were wearing green surgical scrubs. At one point a woman collapsed on the floor and McKay ran to her and started yelling medical stuff and checking her pulse. Sheppard wasn't far behind him. That was the most exciting thing. Other than that, the two of them just snarked at each other in a flirty way and pretended they were busy. It was great!

Mom says that ER would totally be a better show if SGA were part of it. I think I agree. Also? It's fun picturing Sheppard and McKay in scrubs. It totally works for me. :)

In other not so entertaining news, Friday was the three year anniversary of my grandpa's death. Everyone, saving me, went to the cemetery at some point on Friday. Mom made up an arrangement of white roses and a "Grandpa" balloon. Sunday I drove Grandma to church and afterward we went to the cemetery and the arrangement and balloon were gone. This isn't the first time someone has snurched things from Grandpa's grave. Every week we add something to it, and every week something else is gone.

It's really frustrating that someone would do something like that. Grandma is paranoid and thinks it's something personal against her and Grandpa. I disagree. I can't think of anyone in Royal who would do something like that to us. But than, I'm fairly optimistic about people and haven't really been around for the last couple of years, so things could have changed.

And in other crappy news, Jana's boyfriend passed away yesterday.

Finished watching season six of SG-1 yesterday. My biggest overall thought? Poor Jonas. I mean, he wants so much to really belong on SG-1 and most of the season it feels like he's just tacked on and O'Neill just puts up with him. And then the last few eps it seemed to me that O'Neill was finally accepting him completely. And it's *sad* because Daniel's just gonna come back and screw that all up. And, ok, maybe that's fine because Jonas will go back to Kelowna and do whatever he does, but I still feel bad about it. Plus, I rather liked Jonas! (Although it is nice to see Daniel again.)

Other than that, loved "Redemption 1 & 2" for McKay (ee!), "Unnatural Selection" for finally officially introducing me to Fifth (I almost said "Six" and then went "No, wait, that's BSG." Whoops.), and "Paradise Lost" 'cause, damn, that was a beautiful ep. "Full Circle" was also good. And "Abyss" is probably my single favorite episode of the season, possibly of the series as I've seen so far. At least it's one of my top five favorite eps. "Abyss" is just...It's got the best O'Neill stuff, the best Daniel stuff, the best Jack/Daniel stuff, and that really cool anti-gravity cell. Although I think it would have been better if they hadn't put Michael Shanks' name in the credits at the beginning. It's more fun when people show up randomly and you're not expecting them to show up randomly.

But "Abyss." Yeah. Wow. The scenes between Jack and Daniel in the cell that show exactly why I *know* that those two love each other, slash or not. And you really get a sense of how Jack sees himself and how Daniel sees him, and the difference between the two. It's just great.

Sigh.

Am so far on "Homecoming" of season seven. I like Jonas' hair. And Daniel in the blue robes. I am shallow. Also, "Jim"? Hee! But also, aw. Poor Jack.

Having a much better day than previously. Really. Today has been nice and quiet and relaxing.

Yesterday I went to Wenatchee with Grandma and Nicholas. That was, um, emotionally taxing. Really, everything would be much better if people just didn't talk sometimes. I almost fell asleep in the car on the way there because it was too early for me and really? Nothing interesting was going on. However, the driving should have been enough to scare me awake. I find it highly amusing that the only time Grandma used her turn signal was when we turned into our own driveway. Yikes.

And then Nicholas is so damned...I don't know, um, prejudiced? With absolutely no compunction about throwing words like "fag" around. First that happened at Dairy Queen, and then on the way home somehow Middle Eastern religions were brought up (seriously, I don't know how this happened. I was happily ensconced in a magazine though.) and he insisted that, even if he had been raised that way, he wouldn't believe all of that "crap." At which point I did pipe up with, "If it's all you know, it's all you know."

Ugh.

Monday my package from Amazon came. Yea! Got Coldplay's new CD. Haven't really listened to all of it yet, but it's damn spiffy. Also got Stargate Atlantis: Rising on DVD. It's shiny. I hope there are bloopers somewhere on the boxed set that's due to come out later. And more commentaries, especially with actors. On Gateworld there's now an interview with David Nykl up. It deserves to be listened to rather than read. He's fantastic. ::hearts::

Speaking of Stargate, Dad and I spent mid-afternoon watching episodes. I'm on the final disk of season four. Woo. Slowly but surely I'm making my way through. I'm not too happy with certain developments (Martouf!), but all in all it's all good. "Window of Opportunity" was friggin' hilarious. Loved the door in Teal'c's face. And the golfing through the 'gate. That would be fun. "Point of No Return" also cracked me up. Especially with Teal'c being "Murray" and the vibrating bed. Anyway, it's been fun. There have been a couple of eps where I start to get involved in the action and worry about SG-1 making it, and then I remember that, d'uh, of course they make it. They make it to season nine. Even Jacob makes it to eight.

Anyhoo. Apparently Tom and I (probably Nicholas too, now that I think about it) are going to see Star Wars tonight. But that's not 'til later.

Also, for [livejournal.com profile] olivelavonne and anyone interested, here is the link for a truly hilarious piece of Firefly fanfiction. Big Damn Zombies, Sir by Shrift. It's seriously funny. (Look! Oxymoron!)
