Augh!

I was just thinking about goals and maybe setting some, which made me think about how perfect New Year's Eve is for that and how I should wait until then. At which point my brain stopped and started and I realized that January is about 37 days away.

::blink::

Where did the time go? Also, there's only about two weeks left of this quarter. College totally messes up your sense of time, because, seriously, where did it go?

In the next few days/week I must

- Write Johnson/Voltaire paper (Tuesday)
- Write Tom Jones paper (Tuesday, Dec. 6)
- Write Philosophy paper (Thursday, Dec. 8).

If I count highest amount of pages assigned that is, hmm, roughly 31 pages of essay. Not horrible. But I'm starting to freak out just a teensy, tiny bit.

Oh, end of quarter rush, how I love you. ::grimace::

In other news, SNOW. Woke up Friday morning and there was snow on the ground. It's mostly melted now, but that doesn't change the fact that it was there. I'm going to pretend the snow was for me. Since I may be stuck in Seattle where it never snows that much and when it does the city goes to HELL. Seriously, it's *scary* how bad the driving is.

So today we have to try to head back over Snoqualmie and back into Seattle and Sunday afternoon I'll be back at the dorm. Where I will have no excuse not to work on my essays.

It's 1:30 in the morning, why the hell am I still awake and how appropriate is this song anyway?

Oh, I have actually figured out why Lost kind of annoys me a little bit sometimes. It takes itself a little too seriously for me sometimes. Also, I think it's really hilarious that no one has really noticed that it's actually a sci-fi show.

hmmm

Is Jack on Lost strangely reminiscent of Jeff Probst on Survivor sometimes or is it just me?
annundriel: (Chloe (sv))
Smallville tonight. Don't know why I'm going to torture myself. Probably because it will be fun to point and laugh and go "omg" and roll my eyes. And, also, Lex is still hot. I admitted to Natasha this morning, though, that I'm kind of sad Chloe is fine. I mean, I like Chloe. I don't want bad things to happen to her and I don't want them to kill her. But if she sticks around another season they're only going to mistreat her some more.

Watched Nip/Tuck on Tuesday. Those people are fucked up on some seriously high levels. I thought the gorilla subplot was kind of hokey. Mom and I talked about it and we both agreed that if that much time and effort had been put into Kiki, than they would have figured out some other way to get her pregnant than actual intercourse. And is it just me, or does the paralleling of seemingly unrelated layered plots seem kind of obvious so far this season?

Didn't watch Lost because the premiere left me totally meh. Mom said it was okay and that next week looks like they'll actually answer some things. Maybe.

Watched the 1963 version of Moll Flanders in Lit today because the professor lost her voice at a Neil Diamond concert. (hehe) Wow those '60s movies were wacky. Young Moll had on more eye make-up than...than...Well, she had on a *lot* of eye make-up. It was laughable. And I did laugh.

Tomorrow is Serenity with Natasha and Kasey. Finally. :D

Today it is windy and raining. Seattle weather. Finally feeling more like fall. I went and got a pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks across the street and a cinnamon scone. It was like Thanksgiving in a cup.
annundriel: (Human Reaction (fs))
So I thought the season premier of Lost was sort of lackluster

This could be because I still haven't seen *all* of season one, though I have seen the finale a couple of times, or because I wasn't really in the mood for Lost. I think it was mostly the latter. Putting this behind a cut just in case. )

Natasha was so unimpressed she exclaimed, "That was the premier?" when I mentioned it afterward.

But I do want to know what's going on and I do want to see where they're going with it. Should be interesting.

Quiz. 'Cause I'm mildly bored.

What Stargate SG-1 Character Am I? )

New SGA mood theme by [livejournal.com profile] goldie_gal. For some reason this is the first time I can get all the pictures to work. Anyway. It's shiny and I heart it.

Got Tom into Lost. Go me!
annundriel: (Waiting (sg-1))
Watched Stargate, the movie )

OMG. Michael DeLuise is David in this episode of Lost ("Confidence Man")! Did a double-take. Saw him, went "wait a tic," thought he looked familiar (from SG-1), then realized he looked like a DeLuise and, bam!, he is! Neat.
annundriel: ([sga] Atlantis 1 v.2.0)
Sci-fi Friday. Again. With new episodes. Yea!

Apparently I become pretty shallow when I watch Stargate.

SG-1 - Babylon )

SGA - Conversion )

Last night was weird. Couldn't sleep *at all*. Went to bed before two and tossed and turned for over an hour. Got back up around three, came up to the kitchen, and read fanfiction )

Anyway, read and went back to bed at four and *finally* fell asleep. Spent most of the day kind of in a haze. Watched a couple more episodes of Lost. Finished with "Walkabout," which from all the episodes I had a chance to see, had one of my favorite endings. Actually, I think I just love all of the ep endings on Lost. It's a beautifully shot show and they know how to work what they've got.

Tomorrow, we go to Wenatchee for school shopping. Maybe a movie. We shall see.
annundriel: (Sigh. (sga))
Sheppard. John Sheppard. )

So, there's that. Natasha, I would like you to persuade me out of playing with this idea. Really. I don't need to write tiny scenes on scraps of paper. Or figure out just where the other SGA/SG-1 characters would fit into this. (Teyla's a sexy secret agent from another country. Daniel works on decoding things.)

*

In other, seriously-I'm-not-crazy news, got my driver's license renewed. Yea. Only have the temporary right now, but I don't look like a complete dork in my picture. In fact, ::gasp:: I look like me. Also bought Lost. YEA. Spent part of the evening looking for easter eggs. Actually found some, too. Go me!

Anyhoo. ::is dull::
annundriel: (The Floating City)
I'm just going to ramble for awhile. Don't mind me. :)

SGA Spoilers )

Gonna stop now because if I don't, I never will.

Still hate the credits. Stupid people.

Went to Tri-Cities with Mom by a sort of meandering route to figure out how we'll be delivering wedding flowers. It was pretty easy. Bought new clothes, a book about SG-1, Lullaby by Chuck Palahniuk, a shiny new planner, and HBP.

Though I'm not reading the book yet (Mom's got it and I'm busy with Diary), if I see Half Blood Prince spoilers not under an lj-cut on my f'list, I swear I will hunt you down and kill you dead. ;) Keep me from committing murder - practice safe LJ-ing.

It's been a good day.

Oh! Since we had to find the place for the reception, we took the Othello route to Tri-Cities and in between Othello (a rather dull town) and Mesa (a town so small you can stand in the middle and see its end in every direction) there was a sign pointing out the road to Basin City. I squealed and had a minor cow. Because I am a geek. Had to explain it to Mom, though. Go Frank Miller.

Also, there's another, longer version of the UK promo for Lost floating around. LOVE.

annundriel: (Listening (ja))
Do you think the other castaways ever see what's going on with the main characters and think, "What the hell is up with those dudes?"

'Cause I would be doing some serious wondering about 'em all.
annundriel: (Default)
OMG. So. Friggin'. Hilarious.

Kasey, you really need to see this.

Sawyer Song

This is not the best week ever. Don't listen to those yahoos at VH1, they have no idea what they're talking about.

The weekend was pretty good. Kay and I watched Garden State, which I still love, and a whole bunch of Lost, courtesy of Kasey. Sunday night we all went to a new Thai restaurant for dinner and all was good. Until I got back to the dorm and tried to finish watching Lost and the frelling VCR decided to eat the tape. (Still sorry 'bout that, Kasey.) Watched Jonathan Creek instead. I think I've watched all of the eps with Maddy now, except for Christmas episode. That makes me sad. :( Don't know how I feel about actually moving on to the new chick, even if she is played by Julia Sawalha (or however you spell her name).

Monday I think was pretty good. Can't actually remember it, so that must mean something. ::shrug::

Tuesday. Oh Tuesday. Basically, the day can be summed up in this conversation:

Gets back from Brit Lit.
Natasha: How was Jeff?
Mary: Jeff can FUCK OFF AND DIE. GAR.
Natasha: ::laughs hysterically for some reason::

We've decided that from now on when we tell people that we suck, we're going to say "You suck like Jeff." Except we can't decide if Jeff sucks in a good way, a bad way, or both ways. Possibly it depends on the situation.

Anyway. I was cranky yesterday. No real reason. Just in general. Also, I feel like all my classes, except for Spanish, are a waste of time. Which translates into - English sucks (like Jeff) at the moment. Slow and boring. Interesting for moments, but never the entire class period. Blah.

But now it's Wednesday and I'm not at work (to finish my presentation, done now) and there is a new episode of Smallville on *right now*. Thus far? Lois rocks. And, it's official, alcohol doesn't affect Clark. Hopefully Lex will get more than three minutes.

So, anyway, things are looking a little bit better now. Yea.
annundriel: (Default)
Well, I said I'd post about classes and so now I'm gonna do that. Partly because I said I would and partly because I like to hear myself type. :)

Spanish Language 1 (SPAN 115 - M-F, not Th) should be fun. Hopefully fairly easy as well. Not easy easy, but relatively easy. I really like the professor so far. She's pretty energetic and very smiley. The class itself is small-ish. Today we were randomly put in twos and asked to do an impromptu conversation. Easy. I still can't role my r's though. rrrrrrrr.

Survey of American Literature (ENGL 254 - M, W) is going to be interesting. Kasey's there, so at least there's someone to talk to. And giggle with. Because half of the things mentioned during class in the first day alone linked back to Eddie Izzard. It's a good thing 'cause it makes it more fun. It's a bad thing because I want to bust out laughing half of the time. The professor is going to totally notice it and be all "Explain yourself" and I'm going to be all "the French Banana War....Mormons *are* from Mars....that would be laughable..." But, y'know, it's fun. We'll be reading several things I've read already, which is good for me. Yea.

Philosophy of the Human Person (PHIL 220 - T, Th) is also going to be interesting. This is the class that Julia recommended to me. It's part of the woman's studies program and the professor is very intense and kinda nutty. But in a good way. Definitely gonna be a bit of a challenge, but we get to read exciting things like Frankenstein so I'm good. So far.

Also looks like I'll be working Monday through Wednesday. 7:00 PM - 11:00 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM on Tuesdays.

Lost premiered on Wednesday. Went over to Campion and watched it with Kasey, Kit, Katie, and Natasha. Had a good time, though not entirely sure what I think about it. It's got potential, but some of it is a little, I dunno, cliched? off? There's something about certain parts of it that are a little too horror-movie-of-the-week y'know? Plus the slightly long-ish monologues of exposition. All in all I'd say I enjoyed it. I'd like to see more because I am especially intrigued about what's mauling people. (I was gonna see "eating", but the pilot seemed mostly whole to me.)

But this is all coming from the girl who watched her brother play Resident Evil: Code Veronica (I think it was that one) just because she wanted to know what the hell was really going on.

*

Our door mirror now says: "Don't tease me about my hobbies. I don't tease you about being an asshole." Everyone ever should go see Garden State. I've now seen it twice with Mom. Whee.
