Almost the End of the World Again

I'm just going to ramble for awhile. Don't mind me. :)
My mind is still completely full of Atlantis. It just won't leave me alone. Which I'm fine with. :) But I'm thinking it's a little obsessive. Which I'm used to.
When last season ended, it was pretty obvious that certain people were going to be just fine. They can't kill off Sheppard after one season if they plan on more. He's the leading man, the hero. The character the audience is most likely to connect to. So, Sheppard stays. And I am so very glad they didn't keep the crew on Atlantis in the dark about his real fate for long. (Putting Sheppard in peril actually sort of reminds me of the big "omg, Lex has been poisoned! He's going to DIE!" at the end of SV season three. Because NO, he's Lex fuckin' Luthor and you can't kill him on the WB.)
You also know going in that they probably won't actually destroy Atlantis.
When it comes down to it, y'know, I actually wasn't really worried about anybody during "Siege III." Chalk that up to spoilers or to blind faith that the characters I love are going to pull through. Either way, no worries. Except for maybe a slight moment of "omg!" with Rodney. But Teyla came and yea!
Liked the plan to trick the Wraith into thinking they had self-destructed, though someone somewhere on livejournal brought up the point that - hey, aren't the Wraith going to notice and then be supremely *pissed off* when teams from Atlantis make their presence known again? Probably. But I'm sure they'll figure something out. And when you've all been up and running for days on end and imminent doom is on your doorstep, it can be hard to plan ahead. I imagine.
So, some thoughts, hopefully in some order to save my own sanity.
- Poor Ford. Of everyone, I was worried for him the most. (And I just now realize that of everyone, I wasn't spoiled for Teyla.) For the first half of season one, Ford was pretty "meh" for me. I didn't dislike him, but he didn't do anything for me either. And then the mid-season break thing came and I completely forgot about SGA. It returned and there was this big moment of shock after "The Eye" where I just sat there and thought, how the hell did I forget how much I love this? And Ford started to grow on me. After watching "Letters From Pegasus" multiple times, I love him enough to miss him. Watching it during the marathon, and seeing his message to his grandparents, he made me quite sad. I don't really know what's going to happen to him later on this season, but I can only imagine that he's never going to see his grandparents again. And never going to share with them any of his experience. At least the parts that don't need security clearance. He was filled with so much enthusiasm. Not so much anymore. So I repeat, poor Ford.
- I still really love the reactions, though brief, of Beckett, McKay, and Weir to Sheppard's believed sacrifice. Their expressions are all just so- so- defeated, in a way. But McKay's look in particular just killed me. And then the relief when they hear Shep's voice and find out about the Daedalus. Oh, it's so good. The way McKay just sort of slumps over in exhaustion and relief, looking so close to having a complete emotional break down.
- Trying very hard to take Hermiod the Asgaurd seriously, because I'm liking his cranky little gray ass and his mumbling in Asgard. But am having trouble due to inappropriate comment because I keep seeing "Hermiod" and "Hemroid" which just makes me think of Hemorrhoid of the Assgaurd. It's bad. I'm bad. Sometimes Neesha really just needs to slap me upside the head and tell me to shut up.
- Carson's reaction to the beaming technology! Hee! If I had been at Kay's, she would have made a Scotty/Star Trek joke. She makes one every time I watch SGA over there and Carson comes on.
- Was ridiculously pleased to see Novak on-board. Loved her in "Prometheus Unbound" despite the hiccups, which I actually didn't mind that much. Re-watching it and seeing her interact with Daniel, I remember randomly wondering what her interaction with McKay would be like. And now, bam! There she is. Although, I don't know why I was surprised. I guess in all of the excitement of seeing Claudia Black kick Michael Shanks's ass, I just forgot that Prometheus was supposed to go to Atlantis and so, Novak being part of the crew she would have been there, too.
- A very strange part of me wants to know if Zelenka is right- , left-handed, or ambidextrous. 'Cause his sidearm is strapped to his left leg, but he seems to do everything work-wise with his right.
- Love Caldwell and his interaction with, well, everyone. He's much more respectful and willing to say, "Hey, you've been here longer. Give me some input as to what to do." Good for him, knowing when to ask the questions. (Much like Mitchell in "Avalon Pt. 1" and his Goa'uld bracelet question. Get out there and ask those questions! Sometimes the audience would like to know, too.)
- OK, so the whole McKay-Security escort thing? I loved it. I don't care if maybe it was a little too slapstick by the end. He's stressed, he's exhausted, he's never been completely great under those types of circumstances. Even in "The Defiant One," he need Sheppard giving him instructions. So, I'm willing to go with the whole magazine dropping thing. Because it made me laugh and we got McKay screaming, "You want some of this? Huh?" However, I did kinda go "eh" when he wouldn't be just a little bit quieter while hiding in the hallway before his escort got shot. 'Cause we all know he's not stupid. He should know better than to talk that loud. Maybe he was just frantic that they'd do something and he'd end up screwed somehow because he didn't understand? So he needed clarification *stat*? I mean, he instinctively whispered after cloaking the city and that was just hiding on a larger scale.
- And Teyla got her little cliff-hanger resolved quickly and came and saved his ass. And I squeed because he was hiding behind a box and a little frantic and Teyla just poof! showed up. (Although, hey, wouldn't it have been nifty if it had been Sheppard?) Loved their exchange. "I thought you were very brave." "Really?"...."Lead the way." "Yeah, sure, after you." Hee!
- "Snap!" ::giggle::
- Rodney on the floor! Aw. Teyla's "Shall I just explain to the rest of the Wraith left on the base that you are unavailable to fight?" and helping him up. And McKay checking his empty holster as they exit.
- The Sheppard/Weir hug was kinda awkward. I think, all things considered, I would rather that they didn't push any romantic pairing at us. It's better if things just develop naturally. Plus, it makes it much easier to ship anybody you want if there are not real canon pairings. But I do like the friendship thing going on between Shep and Weir.
- So I do like the scene with Everett and awful lot. But that really was actually a kind of a shitty thing for him to tell Sheppard. (I actually missed this scene the first time around because Mom was making fun of Everett's heart monitor thing and I couldn't stop laughing.)
- Wow, Mitch LastNameICan'tSpell's got really large-ish ears. Or maybe that was just the camera angle.
- That confrontation between Ford and Beckett was kinda intense. Why can't we all just get along? Did Ford ever think much of Beckett?
- "...slow death, quick death, painful death, cold, lonely death..."
- "What are you, union?"
- Poor Zelenka! Getting hit like that. Stupid Ford. Noticed that Rodney called him "Radek" and was pleased. Also noticed that Sheppard mostly used "Rodney." Did he ever use "McKay"? And, most importantly, when is McKay going to use "John"?
Speaking of Sheppard and McKay. I love them so very much. From the beginning when Sheppard pulls McKay back from his explanation of Asgard technology to the balcony scene to, well, I can't remember what else. They're just so in-sync with each other. Love love LOVE.
Although I'm a little worried about Shep's statement to Caldwell that he's "learned to trust Rodney about these things" and all of Hewlett's talk about destroying a solar system. Could there be foreshadowing in that statement? Because it wasn't exactly key to the plot, but it's there and saying stuff like that seems to jinx people so....I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
Balcony scene had to have been one of my favorite moments all ep. Wasn't entirely necessary, could have been any two (or more) people out there. But it wasn't. It was John and Rodney and it was gorgeous. (There goes the SFX for the rest of the season.)
Also loved McKay and Zelenka. So in-sync it's almost scary. Yea geeks!
Gonna stop now because if I don't, I never will.
Still hate the credits. Stupid people.

Went to Tri-Cities with Mom by a sort of meandering route to figure out how we'll be delivering wedding flowers. It was pretty easy. Bought new clothes, a book about SG-1, Lullaby by Chuck Palahniuk, a shiny new planner, and HBP.
Though I'm not reading the book yet (Mom's got it and I'm busy with Diary), if I see Half Blood Prince spoilers not under an lj-cut on my f'list, I swear I will hunt you down and kill you dead. ;) Keep me from committing murder - practice safe LJ-ing.
It's been a good day.
Oh! Since we had to find the place for the reception, we took the Othello route to Tri-Cities and in between Othello (a rather dull town) and Mesa (a town so small you can stand in the middle and see its end in every direction) there was a sign pointing out the road to Basin City. I squealed and had a minor cow. Because I am a geek. Had to explain it to Mom, though. Go Frank Miller.
Also, there's another, longer version of the UK promo for Lost floating around. LOVE.
