There is nothing scarier than double-checking your Sent folder to make sure your final bill you're sending your former employer was the one with the correct total only to click and see "Project Supernatural.doc" as the file name.

But then you look up and realize, whoops, you clicked on the message beneath it and are actually looking at the e-mail you sent [livejournal.com profile] olivelavonne with the first couple of pages of said fic and all is well.

For a minute there, though...Holy crap. It was a Dear Gmail, where is your magic "unsend" button? moment.

Not that there is anything particularly embarrassing or dirty in that document. Just, y'know. Awkward. For me.

01. The other day [livejournal.com profile] sdrohc_ratiug were texting each other what it would be like if Eric Kripke did Buffy and Joss Whedon did Supernatural. Then there were crossovers. It was entertaining.

[livejournal.com profile] annundriel: If SPN were done by Whedon, Dean and Cas would make out.
[livejournal.com profile] sdrohc_ratiug: Haha it's true. But he would also break everyone's heart and EVERYONE WOULD DIE.

It's a win-lose situation.

02. Just want to send a big thank you to [livejournal.com profile] wynna_pendragon for the v-gift! I've been in a bit of a rut lately and it totally made my day. <3

03. Writing briefs is not my favorite thing to do ever.

04. Finished reading Joe Hill's short story collection 20th Century Ghosts. Really enjoyed it. Got it from the library and may have to buy my own copy. I'm still trying to figure out all of the implications of "My Father's Mask." (A story which you should not read in the middle of the night because you may be woken up an hour later by the dog barking and the sound of doors opening and closing and start thinking about how in-the-middle-of-nowhere you are and people in masks and so-on.)

05. There is no 5.

Bazinga!

- Follow-up to Before the Night Is Through sent to [livejournal.com profile] ginnith last night. I'm on a dirty, porny roll!

- Editor dropped off the Nikon D40. I get to carry a fancy-shmancy camera around with me! For free! HA. (Unless you count the various tolls anxiety takes on me when forced outside of my comfort zone in order to interview people.)

- The first issue of the new publication came out today. My feature is the first story in it! And they used my title! And it's all "Mary ___, contributing writer"! I feel ridiculous for being excited about it since I've been writing for the newspaper since November 2008, but there is something about opening this one up and seeing it there. Maybe it's because it's thicker than our inky-dinky paper? The publication is a combination of three local papers now, and is more tabloid-style.

- Subbing half a day of middle school PE tomorrow. I'd say I'm a crazy person, but honestly? I'd rather sub those classes than have to deal with a whole day of fifth grade where there are detailed lesson plans. (And half of the material's never where the teacher's note says it is...)

- There was a guy in the library today who smelled of diesel/gasoline. My nose is still tingly with it.

- I have Southland on DVD! Only seven episodes, sure, but now I can watch/re-watch and pause and whathaveyou whenever I want.

Ugh

Hey, I know! Let's pretend today didn't happen!

Except for the part where I got the feature finished. That part we can keep.

Oh, and the part where I finished a book (The Ersatz Elevator) and started another one (Mister Monday). I am apparently on a Young Adult kick at the moment. Those are good times.

But the parts where I had to chase down puppies (in the cold while my hair was soaked) and got crap all over my shoes? And am now a little hoarse? Yeah, do not need them.

I will stop being so down in the mouth tomorrow.
annundriel: ([spn] We're Here to Save You?)
My brain is a little bit on crack under the cut.

Supernatural - 5.12 )

*

I'm at the Library of Doom tomorrow. [livejournal.com profile] sdrohc_ratiug as asked me not to die while I'm there. I'll try not to. That town's a little scary these days, though I've never had any problems with anyone in the library. Or anyone in general. I skate by on niceness.

Meanwhile, I started working on a follow-up to Before the Night Is Through. I've also been working on other "Castiel's First Time ____" fics.

And, of course, what I should really be working on is the feature for the paper. The thing about features that freaks me out is that the people they are about will probably read them. I don't want the nice people I spent a pleasant hour+ to be unhappy.
annundriel: ([spn] I Have the Power)
It's probably wrong to feel gleeful when the other PE teacher tells you the kids will probably run the next day. But, oh, it's nice being on the other side of the equation for a change! Also, some of those kids...Grr. ::shakes fist::

You know you're in trouble when the other teacher tells you, "Fifth period you've got about, oh, five of the worst human beings on the planet."

It wasn't that they're disruptive or disrespectful, they've simply turned Doing Nothing into an art form.

Was Health today, but will be PE the rest of the week as there WERE NO LESSON PLANS. I was supposed to call the teacher, but she never got back to me.

I did get a good start on my port article. Yea, multitasking! I still have the fire district meeting to go to tonight.

Oh, that reminds me of something that annoys me work-wise. Especially in regards to subbing at the school. )

So I am mostly using this mood (originally "mischievous") because it is seriously one of my favorite Castiel moments/looks in SPN. I NEED AN ICON.

But now I'm going to go find a heater and/or blanket and curl up with Guards! Guards! until I have to leave again.

Yawn

Yesterday my back was absolutely killing me. So I took pain killers and applied heat and texted [livejournal.com profile] sdrohc_ratiug. She brought over her massage table and now I can BEND OMG.

A couple of weeks with no newspaper articles to write was really nice, but now I'm having the hardest time getting back into the groove. Bah.

Monday there's a port meeting. Wednesday is fire district. I think I spend the majority of my time writing something-or-other.

Focus!

Dear Self,

You are not allowed to work on or even think about the follow-up to Busted and Backed Against a Wall until you are finished with all of your articles.

Got it?

Good.

So the bad thing about snow (one of them, anyway) is that people track it in in the stupid treads of their stupid boots. Then some poor, unsuspecting person (ME) goes about in their stocking feet and BAM! Warm, fluffy, comfy socks become receptacles for ice-cold water. :(

It doesn't help that our floors are white where they're not carpeted. So you either don't see the snow or you don't see the puddle until you're hopping on one foot across the room because, Jiminy Christmas*, that's really fucking cold.

I'm going to have to mount an expedition under my bed for my slippers.

*One of the people I talked to for my feature yesterday said variations of this the whole time. He also said something else that was delightfully odd and character-like, but I cannot for the life of me remember what it was.

Raaaarr

You guys. You guys.

I hate writing about levies and levy proposals and levy equalization/LEA and stimulus packages and percentages and how much funding we're going to lose when WA Legislature goes back in session. Haaaaaaaaaaaate.

I want to be working on my fic. Or on that scene that popped into my head that involves Dean and Castiel and the Impala and rain, where I can indulge in description and feeling.

Instead I am writing about the proposed maintenance and operations levy and increases in property valuation.

Bah humbug.

Back to work. Back to work and then I can move on to fun stuff.

Holiday

annundriel: ([cplng] Could Use a Drink)
Happy Thanksgiving to those that celebrate it! To those that don't, the sentiment remains though the holiday does not. I hope everyone had a wonderful day, wherever you may be. ♥

I had stuffing, so I am happy.

Now I am texting Tris about Black Friday and watching this teaser and this trailer for Bioshock 2. Grabby hands may be involved. WANT.

The funny thing about this is that I SUCK at games like Bioshock. I am way too excitable for games in which things attack you and you have to fight. I prefer to watch because then my flailing doesn't ruin anyone's chances. Except Tris rented Bioshock when I was over there last summer and I was actually pretty good at it. Even though parts scared the bejeebus out of me. Visually, aurally. It's a creepy game.

There was a great part while I was playing with Tris where a guy popped out of a bathroom stall I'd already investigated. I jumped and, yes, yelped and Tris screamed. He blamed it on my jumping. But I think we all know he would have done it anyway. After trying to play the game before me, he had to give up. The atmosphere is really effective.

It's just one of those things where I'm so intrigued by it visually and story-wise that I just can't help but be drawn to it. Curiosity really did kill the gaming-cat, didn't it?

Trailer. Other trailer.

I really just want to explore Rapture and not be attacked.

Anyhoo. I'm also trying to work on fic. It's going. But Dean is not being...Dean enough. Heh. When I think, "Quit being problematic, Dean," it sounds like Sam. Maybe I'll try Castiel POV for a while.

I'm also working on the last school board meeting. Levy and levy equalization talk! FUN.

City council and port articles today. I am a writing machine!

So

annundriel: ([sn] Jeremy)
I think I'm just going to pretend yesterday did not happen. I'm as good as I ever am if stuck a little too deeply in my own head. Given that it's not Thanksgiving yet, I think I can take my moods to mean winter is going to be Not Fun.

But. I did get my hair cut yesterday and I really like it. It's nothing very different from what I've had before, but it's shorter than it was and cleaned up around the edges. More A-line bob-like. We'll dye it soon.

Did you know there are only six weeks left in the year? Crazy!

Meanwhile, there is a port meeting today. I have been working for the newspaper for basically a year now. I have been involved with three scandals because of it. Are there other scandals in the paper I don't instigate? I do not know.

Oh! Wait! Four scandals! Gang sign, burn days, restaurant sign, GOLF ASSOCIATION. Almost forgot that one. And that's the one that caused tears. (On my part. No idea if I make other people cry. Oh. Wait. I did make that one woman cry for a feature...Not on purpose! The death of a loved one was involved! Tears happen!) Though the gang sign one is still having fall-out (apparently) and that was last winter.

By "scandals" I mostly mean the stuff that makes people go "OMG SRSLY??" So, y'know, dirt. Mostly. Except that the dirt is just what people say in public meetings on public record. Because people are D-U-M-B, DUMB.

I do not like writing dirt. Whenever Mom hears this, she points out that it's just this kind of dirt I don't like writing. ::nudge nudge wink wink:: So then I go write some of the dirt I enjoy writing and that kind of makes me feel better.
annundriel: ([ncis] The Zing)
I love talking to my mom about stuff.

Spoilers for last night's NCIS )

Fire district meeting tonight! I am bound to be awkward! Woo, awkwardness!

::headdesk::
annundriel: ([merlin] Yeah Right)
I just got a phone call from a 555-5555 number with a recording saying my debit card had been deactivated because of new services (or something) and did I want to reactivate it. If so, put the digits in.

I hung up instead.

Real? Scam? Someone want to go with me to an ATM and find out if my card still works?

Also, I would totally headdesk right now except then there'd be brains everywhere and no one to clean them up. ARGH. Well shafts and parking! City council you are BORING ME TO DEATH.

Sorry about the multiple posts. This happens when I'm stuck at the computer all day.

"I do not want their pump back down my hole."

Still funny.

Tsk, so inappropriate Mr. Mayor.
annundriel: ([b] Brennan)
- sending a puppy over to Seattle. We'll be down to six.

- the feature on a local massage therapist

- city council (BOO)

- editing NCIS fic. [livejournal.com profile] ginnith will be getting a phone call later to hammer out some details. As usual, I will feel dumb reading porn out loud over the phone but she'll make me do it anyway. :P

- posting NCIS fic

- looking on the bright side of life
annundriel: ([st] Brain's All Tingly)
MAYOR: I do not want their pump back down my hole.

It took a lot of effort not to even crack a smile at that one.

And it didn't end in the predicted tears! Or stress! They didn't even mention the sign or incident or council members being negatively in the spotlight. Phew.

They did talk about parking and the lack thereof for forever, though. Sometimes meetings are interesting and sometimes it's 10 minutes talking about how many more feet the right-of-way needs to be and whether or not it's illegal to park on the sidewalk in the state of Washington. It is, by the way. If you're in Washington and think that might be a good idea.

Also, how does the Driver's Ed instructor not know cul-de-sac?

Missed NCIS. Sad panda am I. :(
annundriel: ([hp] Luna)
I am terrified of attending tomorrow's city council meeting.

I'd bet money it will end with me either in tears in the car or when I get home.
