Evil Wrapped in a Fangirl Disguise

The other night, olivelavonne and I spent a good deal of time on the phone discussing SPN. (Mostly it was about the finale and what we'd like to see next, and partly it was her talking me off the ledge re:fic.)

But she pointed out something about Chuck.

Golly, Dean. I think Cas is the only person who looks at you like that...

Not necessarily my favorite quote, but one I love. It's too hard for me to pick a favorite.

So I finished typing this and then I was hesitating over the "post" button and I realized it was because I'm afraid the Castiel I try to write, while feeling in-character to me, may read as OOC to other people. You don't want to be like "This is how I see things" and then have someone call you on the fact that it doesn't translate.

But oh well.

If this post is extra nuts and doesn't flow well, it's because I'm hungry and dinner is waiting and I'm too impatient to re-read it now. :P


Yesterday aesc posted The Casifesto; or, Why Castiel is not your grandma's angel. It is a post of brilliance and, in my opinion, should be required fandom reading. Also, there are pretty pictures.

I read it yesterday, and a little while ago lattimore happened to point it out to me again.

And then an amazing thing happened: I realized what made me stop reading SPN fic like I was starving and it was cake.

( Going under a cut because, well, it got long and maybe non-sensical )

Because some days you just need a .gif of Castiel looking ridiculously pretty to get through the day. Mmmhmmm.



That stare. Those eyes. The eyelashes, which I didn't notice in this much before but are suddenly, oh my, a bit of a fixation. The cheekbones. The mouth.

Outside of objectifying, I love that stare. I love that there's so much in it, both in that moment in particular and on the show in general, that you really do get the sense that there is something otherworldly behind it. Non-human. Not inhuman, because there's a certain coldness to that and Castiel has shown himself to be anything but. Try as he might have to fight it, Dean's influence is strong.

Don't mind me. I am feeling massive love for Castiel today. Not any different from how I usually feel about the character, but today it's hitting me like a ton of bricks.

And now, back to writing.

I joined sdrohc_ratiug while she ran errands today. And we got pho. Oh, pho. It'd been more than a week. I'm surprised I wasn't going into withdrawal. The only thing better than having them set the bowl in front of you and getting that first smell is taking the first bite. It's crazy how much I love this stuff.

Why else is Thursday good? Not only is Project Runway on (I enjoyed last week's premiere), SUPERNATURAL IS BACK. IN ALL OF IT'S APOCALYPTIC, TRENCHCOATED, BATMAN VOICED, FLOPPY HAIRED GLORY.



Ahem.

Also, it is the mid-January and it's like spring outside. What up, central WA?

It's probably wrong to feel gleeful when the other PE teacher tells you the kids will probably run the next day. But, oh, it's nice being on the other side of the equation for a change! Also, some of those kids...Grr. ::shakes fist::

You know you're in trouble when the other teacher tells you, "Fifth period you've got about, oh, five of the worst human beings on the planet."

It wasn't that they're disruptive or disrespectful, they've simply turned Doing Nothing into an art form.

Was Health today, but will be PE the rest of the week as there WERE NO LESSON PLANS. I was supposed to call the teacher, but she never got back to me.

I did get a good start on my port article. Yea, multitasking! I still have the fire district meeting to go to tonight.

( Oh, that reminds me of something that annoys me work-wise. Especially in regards to subbing at the school. )

So I am mostly using this mood (originally "mischievous") because it is seriously one of my favorite Castiel moments/looks in SPN. I NEED AN ICON.

But now I'm going to go find a heater and/or blanket and curl up with Guards! Guards! until I have to leave again.

I'm having one of those days where I just want to surround myself with comfortable things and things that make me happy.

So I'm indulging myself with Dean and Castiel.

I've been re-watching bits of season one lately and thinking about the amazing luck SPN had when they cast Misha Collins. Before I'd seen any of the show, I'd read his first line several places. "I'm the one who gripped you tight and raised you from perdition."

Reading that? And not knowing the character? It's got the potential for massive fail. How do you make something like that sound...not ridiculous? I am convinced no one but Misha could make that line work because, omg, does it ever on the show itself. Now I read it/hear it and instead of thinking, "Who says stuff like that?" I become a quivering mass of flaily fangirl.

Besides which: best, most badass introduction/entrance of a character ever y/y? Seriously. He's got two of my favorite entrances on TV.

Also! Whenever I write a Dean line and go, "Ugh, that's pretty dirty. Even for Dean," I think about the deleted stuff from that scene and go, "Okay, maybe not too dirty for Dean."

CASTIEL: Finding a human vessel durable enough to contain me...it's not easy.
DEAN: I have that same problem with women.

SO MAYBE VESSELS CONTAINING ANGELS WILL WORK BETTER FOR YOU, DEAN. YOU SHOULD TRY IT.

OH LOOK. A CONVENIENTLY VESSELED ANGEL! ::smushes them together::

Um. Anyway. I almost couldn't believe he said it. Almost. Oh, Dean.

Also, this deleted scene from "Heaven and Hell." I just love how...subtly pleased/amused Castiel looks over telling Uriel to keep his hands off Ruby.

I have no really appropriate end for this post, except that the hiatus is surprisingly not torture. I think it's because a) I have lots of fic I want to write about them that works well with not worrying about new canon information and b) I am afraid the whole season is going to end in an epically bad way and if I can put that off, I'm good. I have no basis for this fear other than it's SPN and, well, look at the subject matter. But it's still there.

Tonight on the CW they replayed "Free to Be You and Me." Much as I love the episode - and, oh, I do, I really do - I also have some issues with it. But that's one of the things fic is for, right? To work through those. Which I have already done.

But the episode is now on my mind and so, a post. I'm mostly just thinking out-loud under the cut. It'll probably be a jumble and lead nowhere.

Anyway. I've got fic to work on. Two things that I was supposed to be working on until Busted hi-jacked my brain. And, um, now I may also be working on a sequel/follow-up to Busted. Apparently when I say, "Take a break from NC-17," my brain goes, "NO DIRTY FIC, WRITE THE DIRTY FIC." ::shrug::

Unrelated, sdrohc_ratiug did some of her massage therapist magic on me today and OH MY GOD. I...don't even...She only worked on me a short time and it was impromptu, but my back feels so much better. I think I'd forgotten what it was like not to be in constant pain in certain places. I am now considering doing the massage thing regularly again.

Dahlia, hun, you are awesome. In general, not just or the massage. ♥
