Not speculative or spoilery about upcoming events (because I am UNSPOILED GO ME), but going under a cut anyway.

Dean didn't know that Castiel turned Anna in.

Does Dean know about Castiel letting Sam out of Bobby's panic room yet? I'm curious and can't remember. And too lazy to go looking on the SPN wiki.

Nothing has been said on-screen or indicated. I hope that doesn't pop up at a really bad time...

They didn't have the "Hey Sam, I broke the first seal so this is kinda my fault, too" conversation on-screen either, did they? So it's entirely possible Dean knows and we just haven't been informed of it as an audience.

Oh yeah, I would HATE for that information to be used on Dean in a stress-filled moment. But since he still trusted Castiel more than Anna in last night's episode, even though Anna told him Castiel turned her in, I'm hoping he wouldn't completely lose his head. Both actions occured after Castiel had been yanked back to Heaven and before he'd allied himself with Dean, after all.

I doubt Dean knows about that yet.... like I said in my own reaction post, I'm having nervous feelings about the future of Cas. But even if he's not gonna do a face/heel turn on us, he may still have been unwilling to share this tidbit of info because he wouldn't risk Dean's friendship. It's all he has right now, I think.

I do guess they know it was "angels" that got Sam out, but not Cas specificaly....

I've thought about the possibilities of evil!Castiel before. Who says busting Dean out of that room at the end of "Lucifer Rising" wasn't part of some plot to keep him close to the Winchesters/Dean? Give him some influence over them? And on the one hand, I think that could be kind of clever. Especially since they pulled it already with Ruby. So we, as fans, should maybe be suspicious.

On the other hand, it the whole thing makes me kind of sad. Castiel is basically Dean's first real friend, and if it turns out it's all been a manipulation...it'll just add to his massive collection of issues.

Castiel just worries me in general, whether that means evil or death or whatever. I want the writers to do right by him.

You're right, they've gotta know it was angels that released Sam.
