Cantata Time

This is why there are no ornaments on our tree this year.
Just got back from the annual Christmas cantata. It was good. First time I've been to a church-related activity since going to mass last Christmas Eve (lapsed Catholic is lapsed).
Made weird by the fact that now whenever I hear "angels" I think of, well, Castiel and Uriel and Zachariah. Which does not quite go hand-in-hand with the white-robbed rejoicing, y'know? And inevitably Dean/Castiel. Which made it a whole lot more amusing but also a lot more sacrilegious.
It was hard not to grin or giggle. Though it did get me thinking about how different things might have been in the SPN 'verse for those angels back in the day.
I probably need an intervention.

*has weird images of Castiel and Zachariah in white robes and harps...*

Haha! omg, they'd be one of those angelic choirs that looked all holy and respectable in their white robes, but they'd be poking and smacking and behaving like hooligans whenever
the conductor'sGod's back was turned.(no subject)

He was robed in a cloud, with a rainbow above his head; his face was like the sun, and his legs were like fiery pillars." My response was, "Who is this fabulous flaming rainbow angel?"
Also, your cat is adorable. XD

"Who is this fabulous flaming rainbow angel?"
LOL. OMG that is fantastic!
I always thought a few of those phrases in the mass itself were pretty...suggestive. But then I can find innuendo pretty much anywhere.
Thanks!

Date: 2009-12-14 06:31 am (UTC)We were supposed to take her in and get her fixed last Friday (she went in to heat last week and was acting CRAZY), but the vet had a couple of emergencies so we're taking her in next week instead.
She chases Pepper around the living room! It's hilarious!
There's a group from Othello that does a Christmas cantata every year. It's basically a musical composition for a choir and instruments that's based on religious text(s). There's usually a theme. This year it was called Glorious Impossible and was essentially about how God who is all powerful and infinite "wrapped Himself in perishable skin" and had a birthday and "became an embryo" and how we can't imagine (because we are tiny humans) why He would make that divine choice.
The music is always nice. The last couple of years they haven't had a live orchestra, which is sad. But the singing is good. Mostly. I thought a couple of the solos could have been a little better this year.
