So what if I'm avoiding Waiting for Godot? It'll get done. What with the quiz in the morning and all.

It was kind of fun seeing Jamie Ray Newman (aka Cadman from SGA) as a law-breaking mom on Veronica Mars last night. As soon as I saw her I was going, "What a minute..." and then had to sit through the bajillion male guest stars listed to finally see her name because she was just different enough.

It was kind a "meh" episode for me, though I'm not sure why. Well, okay, I lie. I'm a liar. I didn't like Weevil's statement that Logan was awful to Lilly and I'm kind of not like the way Veronica doesn't trust anyone. With that in mind I'd kind of like to see her alienate everyone around her by the end of the season and then have to regain their trust. Or something. Thoughts not fully formed and all that. Anyhow. My favorite part was probably Lamb doing the robot and the guys in the background being all, "Hey, the sheriff's doing the robot! Someone get a camera phone." Heh.

Went to the theater tonight. Will post about it tomorrow maybe. Right now I have to go watch America's Next Top Model. Guilty, guilty, guilty pleasure. I'm still a little annoyed they kicked off Brooke. On her graduation night! Tyra, I don't care if you've been modeling forever, you are dumb.

I'm really enjoying my classes this quarter. I feel much more relaxed in them than usual. Not sure why.

In Ethnic American Literature we just finished reading Chang-Rae Lee's Native Speaker, which I thought was wonderful. This quarter I've been really trying to complete all of the novels assigned, and when books like this are on the syllabus, it's really not a very difficult task.

The last movie assigned for film class was Talk To Her, directed by Pedro Almodovar. I watched it once by myself on Saturday and once with Kasey and Michele on Sunday. So far this is my favorite film we've watched (not counting Raising Arizona, since I'd seen that previously and loved it). Perhaps if I had the chance to see My Life As a Dog again that would be around the same place as this one. I'm not even sure why I liked it as much as I did, but there's just something about it that works for me. I'll have to force it on Mom when the quarter ends.

Speaking of film class, a certain someone is dead to me. Again.

Yesterday my Asian Religions class went to a Buddhist monastery. We were shown how to bow correctly, given a tour, practiced meditation, and then had a bit of a Q&A session. It was a good time and a wonderful way to bring together everything we've been reading and discussing in class. As the professor says, you can't really understand religion unless you see it in practice.

I'm writing a lot more lately. It's a good thing. Have been working on some old stuff and have come up with some new stuff. Woo.

One episode left!
annundriel: ([sga] Atlantis 1 v.2.0)
I finally got caught up on the last three episodes of SGA )

And now I have to wait until friggin' July.

Then there was Project Runway which I *love*. More than I should. And, um, Santino's still kind of a big asshole, but he's grown and, damn, I kind of like him now. Though I think less overall of the outfits this season, I like all of the people a lot more.

Veronica Mars was good. Nothing really to say. Kind of 'meh' for me.

In real life, weekend! Yea! Tough week.
annundriel: ([jf] Yea!)
I am DONE!

English paper ended up longer than I was planning due to my failure to double check the length. Philosophy paper ended up a solid eleven pages with a decent bibliography. Astronomy test kind of iffy, but overall I think it's fine. Mostly all I care about is the fact that I didn't completely blow anything and now I'm done for roughly three and a half weeks. Time to focus on reading for pleasure and not for torture class.

Greg's picking me up later this afternoon and Mom's supposed to come tomorrow (weather holding) and take me back over the Cascades. I'm mostly packed now, just a few smaller things I need to grab, plus my laptop. Need to make sure everything of mine is unplugged and off the windowsill. I've already vacuumed (next quarter we are *so* vacuuming more often) and now I just need to do some dusting.

But right now I'm just gonna sit here with my Pepsi and Hot Tamales (with more kick!) and not do anything, at the same time I won't feel guilty about not doing anything because there is nothing left to do! Yea!!

I spent yesterday watching a lot of TV. Really shouldn't have, but I did. SciFi was doing their daily mini-marathon thing with Andromeda, so I watched that for a couple of hours and then used it as background noise. Before yesterday I'd only ever seen a handful of random parts of it, enough so I knew who everyone was. And obviously enough to be having dreams with Harper making faces at me in coffee shops (I still don't know where that came from). Anyway, I enjoyed the two episodes I actually watched, even if I didn't entirely understand what was going on, and it made good background noise for writing.

Also watched America's Next Top Model. Disappointed in the winner. Still don't care for Tyra Banks. I find her...annoying. And everywhere. Caught the beginning of season two of Project Runway. Hiedi Klum is so much better than Tyra. So much. Should be an interesting season. It's cool that Daniel Franco has actually made it past the first official elimination. Really liked Santino until Chloe won the second challenge. Then he went backstage saying, "They didn't want to give me first place twice in a row." That's not cool, dude. Then there was the bald guy with the scary crying. Wow, man, get a grip. If that's your reaction to a simple question your *first time*, how're you gonna react later? Oh! The weirdest thing happened just as Hiedi was kicking someone off. Bravo just...switched to infomercials with no warning. I had to go online to see who was booted. Very annoying.

Then, of course, Veronica Mars )

Also watched SGA's "Critical Mass." Don't have anything to say that everyone else everywhere hasn't already said. I liked it. Sure, it wasn't the best episode ever, but it was darn entertaining. And Sheppard and McKay are *SO* married. There's no denying it. (Meanwhile, I may have accidentally slipped into OTP territory with them.) Okay, so I didn't actually watch the *entire* episode, because I've been busy, but I watched the good stuff and it was nice to see )

Since Dad is going to be laid up at home for awhile, I think I'm going to make him watch the six hour Pride & Prejudice. Mwuahahahaha! He never should have told me how much he liked the new one. Which was actually pretty sweet. Near the end he asked me how much time was left because he had to use the bathroom and didn't want to miss anything. Aw. He missed a little bit of Darcy's "do you still hate my guts?" speech, but other than that, nothing. Definitely time to take advantage of the bed rest and bond over Jane Austen. :)

I'm avoiding my finals. Yea, procrastination. I just...don't want to. At least, I don't want to do this Tom Jones paper. Didn't read the whole thing, enjoyed what I did read, but I've just got no desire to write about it.

So here I am wasting time by flipping between Star Trek: The Next Generation and Spongebob Squarepants. What can I say, I'm well rounded.

Classes are completely over though, so that's cool.

Anyway. Hopefully will be off campus sometime next Thursday afternoon. Won't get home until, hmm, sometime before the 20th. Which is okay, mostly. I mean, Seattle's great. Love it. There's tons more to do here than out in the boonies. But home's still home.

Watched this week's Veronica Mars. Love it. Why can't other shows ::cough::SGA::cough:: have the same type of follow up and emotional continuity? Granted, VM *is* a detective/mystery-type show and that sort of relies on continuity, but shouldn't that just be the way everything is?

I have goals for this weekend. Here's hoping I actually achieve them.

Looking Up

I've been lazy these last couple of days and done nothing but read (for pleasure) and ogle the SGA DVDs. (Shiny!) Been slowly listening to the commentaries. So far they've all been generally amusing, but something happened during the one for "Hide & Seek" that caused me to have a moment of blank staring followed by a tiny bit of OMG-ing.

Torri Higginson joined Paul McGillion and Rachel Luttrell part way through the episode and they're talking about Jinto and what does she bring up? How Jinto inspired (or something) the idea for "Atlantis, the Musical."

::blink::

Didn't I have this idea?

If someone mentions puppets, I don't know what I'm going to do.

Yesterday Natasha and I went and saw Pride & Prejudice downtown. )

Obviously, I really really liked it. A lot.

Tonight, we are going with EB and her roommate to see GoF. Woo. There was a HUGE line outside of AMC last night around 6:45 for, presumably, the midnight showing. Because AMC has decided not to sell the tickets on line. What the hell?

But now when I see Daniel Radcliffe, I keep staring at his eyebrows.

Veronica Mars - Nobody Puts Baby In a Corner )

Really good episode. I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to see next weeks. Sad panda.

*

Got my Burney/Wollstonecraft paper back. The one that I thought was craptastic. Turns out it wasn't. Full points. Because apparently I am a "good writer" and can incorporate what I hear in class and take notes on and know how to bring it all together with what I'm thinking. Ha.

I was so worried, and then at the beginning of class, Dr. Smith gave us this mini-lecture about how if we don't talk or don't write good papers, there's no way she can know if we're reading and give us decent grades. I totally thought I was on her bad side at this point. But no, so yea. Totally made my day.
annundriel: (Veronica Mars)
Ah, Monday. Alas, you will never be my favorite weekday. That's just the way it is. Unless suddenly Monday turns into the weekend, in which case Tuesday would be the new Monday and then I'd dislike it. Poor Tuesday.

This week I have to:

- Write a five-page paper for Philosophy
- Read most of Evelina
- Go to a lecture given by bell hooks
- Review/Study for Astronomy test

Fun college times. Looks like this week will involve nothing but staying on top of school work.

This past weekend, though, I totally gave to myself. Kay, Greg, and the kiddos went to the cabin and I house-sat and had a Veronica Mars-athon.

So, Veronica Mars. )

Dinner now.
