So the Ood say that the Doctor's song is ending. That all songs come to an end.

Well.

The Ood are wrong. Some songs don't end. Ever. Therefore, Mom and I think this song should be the Doctor's new theme.

I make no apologies if this song gets stuck in your head.

omg, now I'm feeling all nostalgic. Shari Lewis was amazing.

ETA: Also, the kitchen timer just went off and it sounds exactly like the drums the Master hears. Weird.

I am more excited for tonight's Doctor Who than SGA.

I might even been looking forward to Joan of Arcadia a little more than SGA. Because I've never seen it before and they're only on the third episode and I like discovering new characters.

::shrug::

Yesterday Mom, Dad, and I saw Hellboy II: The Golden Army. I really enjoyed it. A lot. It was gorgeous visually, though I actually thought the first movie was more comic book-like. I'm wondering if that had to do with the color palette.

I love the relationship between Hellboy and Liz. And I love the juxtaposition between the way he looks and the way he acts. Plus, his "oh crap" will never not be funny.

One of my favorite lines was when Hellboy tried to get Abe to drink with him.

ABE: My body is a temple.
HB: (pushing the beer at him) Well, now it's an amusement park.

Meanwhile, I love this song. Not sure if it's my favorite, but it's the one that gets stuck in my head most often.

So I keep thinking about Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog )

Rambly. I can't stop being rambly.

Also, I took the Doctor Who Companion Test because I was bored.

I found the Doctor Who episode tonight, "Midnight," really creepy. In a good, interesting way. But I'm kind of annoyed at the preview SciFi ran for next week.

[livejournal.com profile] ginnith was over today and we watched A Dog's Breakfast, the last three episodes of season three of DW, and "Voyage of the Damned." It was great fun.

I just had a small comment/observation about "Utopia" that I wanted to write down before I forgot and it was lost until the next time I watch the episode and think it had never occurred to me before. Because I think I did notice this, just forgot about it.

Anyway. First of all, I love the scene that takes place between Jack and the Doctor while Jack's doing his can't-die routine in the room with the radiation. But what I really love is Jack's, "But this lot, you see them out here surviving. And that's fantastic." It's the "fantastic" that does it for me. Because right there is Christopher Eccleston's Doctor in one word and I love the subtle reminder of him, purposeful or not. It's the Doctor Jack met and traveled with and fought beside.

I also really enjoy the way the Doctor says "Jack" when Jack avoids his question. Hee.

So yesterday was spent reading and napping and basically not doing anything.

Today has been spent reading and watching the extras from Doctor Who season three and basically flailing over John Barrowman (glasses!) and David Tennant. I love this show. I really, really do.

And, hey, now I can finally watch the second to last episode.

Oh, days like this are nice.
annundriel: (Ten (dw))
I had a dream last night that David Tennant and I were roommates. When I told Mom, her first question was, "Did the apartment look like the TARDIS?" And no, no it didn't.

Speaking of DT, finally got to see the season finale of Doctor Who (missed the one before it, though). Wow. I don't care if it was over the top, it worked for me. And that's basically all I have to say about that. But, oh, I love the Doctor. I really do. And Martha. And Jack.

And speaking of Jack )

Now, can season two of Torchwood hurry up please? With a cherry on top? 'Cause I kinda miss those guys and their issues.
annundriel: (Ten (dw))
Just watched Doctor Who's "Utopia." There was some flailing and nail-biting involved. They really can give good build-up. And now I have to wait a week for more.

Watched A Dog's Breakfast with Mom yesterday. Really enjoyed it. Was worried I would be disappointed because I like the people involved so much, but I really wasn't. Mom was even pleasantly surprised. She wasn't expecting the filming quality to be so good. But I laughed and laughed, because people (DH) screaming like girls and falling over is funny.

Now I'm mostly just bored. Today was a very blah day (besides DW). Nothing to look forward to. Except I did get my copy of I Am Legend from Amazon, so that's something. And after The Soup I'm hoping to finally send Dr. Weber the cleaned up copy of my French Novel final. And catch up on some reading, namely the stuff that [livejournal.com profile] trademybike has sent me.
annundriel: (Ten (dw))
Mom and I finally started watching season three of Doctor Who. We're only about four episodes in and, oh, there are not enough words written to explain how much I love this show. Seriously.

Like many of the things I watch, I'm really just happy sitting there watching it. Doesn't need to be brilliant, doesn't even need to be particularly good. Just the fact that it's available to me makes me happy.

Although, I do have one sort of general issue with the season thus far. )

So, yeah. When EB is here during July, I'd kind of like to introduce her to DW. Considering all of the silliness we got into involving Star Trek and Star Wars, I think she'd really enjoy DW.

Meanwhile, I want more Torchwood. I want to know what's going on with the team. Specifically, I'm curious about what they're going to do with Owen. And Ianto. And Jack. Not that interested in Tosh because they didn't really leave her at a, I don't know, a moment where things could potentially change? Also not interested in Gwen. But that's mostly because I still don't really care for her.
annundriel: (Down the Rabbit Hole (dw))
While watching "Doomsday."

[livejournal.com profile] olivelavonne: I want a box with the future in it. (pause) It's "Box to the Future."

I should be in bed, but how can I resist new Doctor Who?

I totally dug "The Runaway Bride." Loved the Doctor and Donna together. And David Tennant's delivery of the final line? Lovely.

So now what I want to know is when the new season actually starts. 'Cause I'm kind of maybe looking forward to it a little bit.
annundriel: (Down the Rabbit Hole (dw))
Battlestar Galactica )

On the season one soundtrack for BSG there's a track entitled, "Helo in the Warehouse." Every time it comes up on my MP3 player I read it as, "Helo in the Whorehouse." This causes some amusement.

Because I couldn't wait for SciFi to air them, I just watched the last two eps of Doctor Who. Am a snotty mess now. Thank you, Doctor Who for breaking my heart just a little. And now I can't thinking about it and, seriously, broken.

Otherwise, the wind finally died mostly down. Thank goodness. It's quite nice and quiet and warm here in the kitchen. I hope all of you in the Seattle area are safe, warm, and dry.
annundriel: (Lost in Space (fs))
So, looks like I'm going to stick around campus this weekend.

Anybody want to come over and geek-out over Doctor Who with me? [livejournal.com profile] subjectivreview? [livejournal.com profile] mandapanda0521? Anybody?
annundriel: (Feel Pretty (cplng))
I just squashed a bug that was like a centipede but not a centipede. It was an an inch and an half long and it was gross and wriggly.

And I'm wired and I can't sleep.

I blame television.

And I'm having an awful time finishing Dogeaters. (I typed "Godeaters" at first. That'd be an interesting read.) I'd start something else, but I feel I have to finish this one first.

Maybe going to see PotC2 with my parents tomorrow. Told Mom they should have cut out the whole bit with the cannibals. "Because there wasn't enough Norrington?" Yeah, pretty much. Less flesh-eating, more ass-kicking.

Watched some of the behind-the-scenes stuff on Doctor Who and, hey, they're narrated by Simon Pegg.

Why can't my brain just have an off-switch?
annundriel: ([sg-1] SG-1)
Yesterday was a good shopping day. I got three of the four things I set out to get: the soundtrack to Superman Returns, the new Muse CD, and the first season of the new Doctor Who. Wasn't able to find the soundtrack to PotC2, but the trip would have been worth it for the DVDs alone. A little pricey, but anyone who knows me knows that I don't really care. I mean, I did buy all four seasons of Farscape and those are worth an arm and a leg. If I want it, I'm going to get it. Anyway. Also got some really neat earrings and a new bag from Target. Yea Target.

Had Chinese food for dinner and talked about Captain Jack (not Sparrow) and then came home and watched the final two episodes off of the DVDs. So now I'm caught up with last season and rather sad I don't have more with me right now.

Luckily, SG-1 and SGA started tonight to distract me.

Anything under a cut is going to have spoilers.

SG-1 - Flesh and Blood )

SGA - No Man's Land )

Randomly, a visit to the set of Neil Gaiman's Stardust. There's even a picture! (Exciting, I know.)

Cheers!
annundriel: (Atlantis 1 v.2.0 (sga))
Been home since yesterday. Yea, I guess. Wanted to e-mail and catch up with people, but the internet decided to stop working. So I tried writing, something I didn't do the whole week in Seattle, and ended up with some stuff I'm pretty happy with and other stuff that just wouldn't come out the way I wanted. I'm going to blame that on the tiredness.

Let me get a rant out of the way. )

So, yeah. Obviously that's something I have issues with. And maybe I can admit that part of my reaction to the e-mail is specific to the person who sent it. I don't want to name names, but this person has used the phrase "blinded by God" in a completely serious way. Now, I don't want to come off as making fun of any religion, but I'm finding more and more that things like that just sound silly to me.

Now, random, more fun stuff.

Am slowly making my way through last season of Doctor Who. I'm kind of ridiculously charmed by all of it. And the music gets stuck in my head whenever I think about it. I like the fact that things specific to the Doctor Who-verse are explained along the way. My mom was a big fan of the show when she was younger, and I'd seen enough bits and pieces on PBS to get the general picture, but not enough to understand how things worked. It's nice that if I have a question about something within the show, it usually gets explained by the end of the episode. Now, if only I could actually find it on DVD. [livejournal.com profile] olivelavonne should consider herself warned for being subjected to another show in the fall. I think she would enjoy the Doctor.

I wasn't planning on seeing Pirates of the Caribbean 2 until sometime next week, but last night I saw a behind-the-scenes special on Starz and, well, I have no self-control. And then Neesha suggested we see it and I was going to suggest that we wait a couple of days, but then I thought about the special and, yeah. I can't wait. Overall, I don't know how I'll feel about it after seeing it, but I think I'll be happy as long as the clip with Norrington that they showed last night is in the final cut. Because guh. Maybe I'll change my tune about Orlando Bloom. Wouldn't that be weird?

This morning I had a dream where I was on campus but not. There was more lawn and there was some modern sculptures and lawn furniture and places to hang out. (It actually reminded me of some of the Tollan stuff on SG-1.) I can't remember how it all worked out, if e-mailing happened first or if I randomly ran into him and we hit it off, but I ended up meeting Richard Dean Anderson. We really hit it off and soon he was coming around all of the time to do stuff. It was kind of weird, but a lot of fun. I think I kept trying to post about stuff we did together (I think we played chess outside at one point), but every time I went to write something I'd decide that actually, no, I didn't want to share that RDA and I were BFF.

And then I think Mom woke me up.

Finally saw the Stargate promo with McKay in the elevator. I love him when he's smug. And the rest of the time, too.

Staying away from SG-1/SGA spoilers is getting harder, but there's only a week left and I am determined to make it. I know some broad things. It's the specifics I don't want to hear.

Having been home, oh, two and an half days now I've already grown fully attached to the puppies. The ones we're going to have to sell in another month.

They are adorable and I was totally in love with them the moment I saw them. Aw, puppies!

When I can catch them not being wiggly and rambunctious I'll take pictures and post.

I haven't actually spent a lot of time at home the past couple of days. Saturday we went to Moses, Sunday to Wenatchee (my uncle broke his hip while on a bike tour - it was raining and the bike hydroplaned and he went down), and Monday it's Moses again. I feel like I'm just going back and forth.

I was going to start rewatching season one of BSG, because what else am I supposed to watch while waiting for SGA to return? But I've just now realized I have a whole season of Doctor Who to catch up on. I think tomorrow I'll start that while I'm organizing the stuff I just threw into boxes in order to get out of the dorm.

Wow, this was pointless.

Being home is nice.

Yesterday the parents, brother, and I went and saw V for Vendetta. I really liked it, and that's with a sinus infection/cold. Of course, it could have been real crap and I would have been pleased just by seeing Stephen Fry, Stephen Rea, Rupert Graves, and Ben Miles all on the same screen. (Ben Miles was a surprise. Hee, Patrick.) I think it's interesting that Alan Moore has disowned the film. I haven't read the book (yet), so I can't compare it at all, but it was a decent film and at the very least it's going to get people interested.

I think I also read somewhere that Moore disowned it before actually seeing it. I wonder if that's true?

Saw a preview (again) for the new Pirates of the Caribbean. It's sad that I still play "Where's Jack Davenport?" Although I'm fairly certain I've spotted him.

Watched "Grace Under Pressure" with Mom today because she'd never seen it. It's still brilliant. Oh, Rodney.

Oh, also got to catch Doctor Who on the Sci-Fi Channel. Am interested enough to watch more, but will have to get someone to tape it for me.

Still kind of sick. Not fun.
