I found the Doctor Who episode tonight, "Midnight," really creepy. In a good, interesting way. But I'm kind of annoyed at the preview SciFi ran for next week.

SGA - "Search and Rescue"

From what I saw around the internet prior to the SciFi premiere tonight, it seemed like a lot of people were pretty squee-filled after watching this episode. I was less squee-filled. Which isn't to say that I didn't enjoy it; any time these characters return it's unlikely I won't enjoy it. What I mean is that while I thought it was a solid episode, it's not going to be high on my list of episodes to rewatch.

Thinking back, that's generally true about several different show's season openers. Especially when I know that the characters that were left in peril at the end of the previous season are probably going to be just fine.

And now for some random things:

- Ford made an appearance! Holy crap! I'm not sure about the John/Teyla drinking wine thing though. Sheppard, what is going on in your head?

Or if that's what's going on in his head, maybe I don't want to know...

- At one point during the recovery of the team on the planet, Mom said, "You know it's funny, but I don't remember noticing so many female soldiers before." At the commercial break I explained about the character introductions that are apparently going to be made this season. We both agreed that it could be pretty groan inducing once the season gets in full swing. Because those guys just cannot write women and while an all woman team is nice in theory, I have some doubts. But we'll see.

Mom pointed out that "as a casual viewer" it was interesting that her first comment was, "Gee, there are a lot more women in this scene than we usually see."

- Teyla had her baby! YEA. Though I think she should have stuck a Rodney in the name, too. Even a Ronon.

- Sheppard's "McKay's alive?" was lovely. As were his lips. I may have stared a little. Though an earlier episode was on a few days ago and I stared a lot. Rodney's arms were also looking very nice.

- Keller may be a Mary-Sue, but I like that she's kind of a dorky one. That she tries to be funny and Sheppard just stares at her.

- Sheppard was playing with a DS and all I could think was, "That's just like mine!"

- So, did Kanaan explode? Michael totally took off in the 'jumper, I'm sure.

The details of the episode are slipping for me now. Like I said, for the most part I enjoyed it. But I enjoyed it more as the first step to shiny new things later in the season.
