WTH?

Why are seasons three and up of Without a Trace available in the UK and not in the US?

WHY?

I mean, I do have a region free DVD player but...I want to be able to watch them anywhere, on anything.

I am being deprived of Danny/Martin goodness. Unfair.

D'aww. Their faaaaaaces.

You know, I kind of miss them.

Oh, Without a Trace. I am kind of sad about you now. :(

This episode of NCIS I'm watching, "Jeopardy," is like a crazy combination of shows I love. First Connor Trinneer (Michael, SGA) showed up, then Tamara Taylor (Cam, Bones. She was on once before.), and now Tim Russ (Tuvok, ST:Voyager). And all three of them have been on WaT, too. I love TV.

The other day, I also randomly saw Tim Russ on an episode of iCarly. That was weird.

Confidence

Last night there was nothing on so I watched part of the Without a Trace reruns they show on TNT. They're at the beginning of season two and I caught a scene that I really like.

Being "excepted" to college is not the same thing as being "accepted."

Tonight my parents and I were senior project presentation evaluators at my old high school. The four presentations I saw were all very good, but they had the occasional typo/slip like the one above. I sat there for a couple of minutes just going, "Wait a minute..." So I debated with myself whether to mention it and finally wrote, "Nice presentation blah blah good things. Typo on second to last slide." I didn't want to make a big deal of it, since the presentation is over and done and, really, a few "um"s and "uh"s and a typo in an otherwise decent presentation should not knock the criteria from an A to a B.

There was that and then there was the girl who wrote that she had "five brothers and three sisters" but when she got there she paused, stared at what was on the screen, and said, "Uh. No. I have two brothers and three sisters. Whoops?" Being a small town, everyone had already been going, "What?" It was amusing.

Interesting being on the evaluator side of the proceedings.

Then we came home and watched NCIS )

Meanwhile, I am two episodes into season two of Without a Trace and I'm loving the little bits of background story they're dropping. For example, Martin hitchhiked cross-country and taught accounting at a state prison. The first thing surprised me when he mentioned it off-hand and the second thing made me laugh and laugh when he explained it to Danny because, oh Martin, you nerd.

Also, I love this song a lot.

Undercover

So, where's the episode of Without a Trace where Danny's the one that has to go undercover as an exotic dancer to expose blackmailers? And Martin has to go undercover as the repressed man who they're going to blackmail with footage of him and Danny in some seedy apartment/motel? Hmm? I think there's really something there. Like making-out and some awkward realizations that ultimately lead to happiness. Sure, they'd probably get fined by the FCC, but they should be used to that by now. I say go for it!

Finished season one of Without a Trace )

Maybe some day I'll have something to say that's better than "omg LOVE." Today is not that day. Maybe if I think about it more...

Meanwhile, I almost felt a little dirty writing WaT almost-porn while watching tonight's new episode.

And on CSI I've gotten to the point where I hope for Hodges and Wendy to have a scene together and then I turn ridiculous when they do. Heee.

The library was dead today. Not a lot to shelve when I got in, four books on the request-pull list, nada in the book drop. So I straightened the non-barcoded, non-call numbered young adult paperback books and did a lot of sudoku. And snuck pretzels when no one was looking. Not that there were many people there to look. There were maybe eight people in there at the busiest time.

But then Mom came over and we went to dinner at La Cabana and there were enchiladas and margaritas and it was good. Yum.

Now I'm wasting time until the Without a Trace I want to see comes on TNT. "Off the Tracks," in which Danny's brother goes missing. I caught the first half of it a while ago, but missed the conclusion (though I know how it ends, spoiler whore that I am) as I had work. This morning I saw the first part of "More Than This," which I was going to ignore but am happy I didn't because I got to see Martin struggling through Spanish and Danny teasing him and supporting him. Clearly Danny has been teaching Martin. Such a small thing, and yet I flail.

I could verbally flail more, but it really would just devolve into a Danny, Martin, Danny/Martin love fest. Seriously. I mean, I love Jack and Vivian and Sam. And Elena is okay, though I don't care for her a lot. Mostly I just wonder why they needed a sixth and want one of the five original characters back. But Danny and Martin. Well. I like 'em best.

I got into WaT sort of backwards. )

Anyway, I could go on (and on and on) - particularly about Danny and (for me) recent bits of his backstory - but those thoughts aren't completely together and I'm getting too tired to be as coherent as I'd like to be. Plus, show to watch!

omg James Marsters on Without a Trace? Weeeird. Not that I really watch the show, but CSI is over and I can't be bothered to change it. Anyway, I almost didn't recognize him because he was being, well, pretty subdued. Or serious. It's nice to see him do something a bit different.

Speaking of CSI )

I have two episodes of Torchwood to catch up on and one episode of SGA. And Dexter.

Meanwhile, two websites that made me laugh this evening as I amuse myself in our hotel room:

- Garfield Minus Garfield. Seriously. I'm kind of in love with the comic strip that appears when Garfield is removed from the equation. For some reason, I'm especially liking the final one on the first page and Jon's, "This is not my lucky hat!"

- The 40 Most Inappropriate Children's Book Covers.

Yesterday Dad and I drove through Death Valley. Dropped from 7000 feet to 200-something below sea level. Fun times. And it was sunny and hot and flat, except for when we passed in and out of it. Definitely would not want to do something like that during the summer, though. I mean, with it as warm as it was yesterday in February I can only imagine how hot it is later in the year.

Right before Death Valley, though, we stopped in the ghost town of Rhyolite. That was interesting. Especially the house made of glass bottles. The nice volunteer woman told us that there are believed to be somewhere between twenty to thirty thousand bottles in the house, most of them beer and some of them medicine. The man who built the house in 1906 didn't wash any of the bottles, so you can look in some of them and see things. Kinda neat.

Before that, though, we stopped some place for a bit of a break and the building across the street was called the Cherry Patch and was, duh, a whore house. House of ill repute? Whatever. It was obvious what they were selling there. With a pretty family friendly RV park across the street. Amazing.

Last night was spent in Bishop, CA and then this morning we drove up through some of the Sierra Nevadas. It was gorgeous.

Pictures: Sierra Nevadas, Mono Lake(larger pics here) )

We wanted to get into Oregon to stop for the night, but were distracted by the little town of Virginia City, NV. Dad really wanted to go because he was nine the last time he was there. The town was a mining town (and seeing the web of mine shafts displayed to scale? Crazy.) and the town the characters on Bonanza often visited. And that was part of the draw for Dad, since he watched the show as a kid and was just tickled at nine to visit it. Even now, it was pretty cool.

Like Leavenworth, WA, it has a theme going for it. Western this time. So all the store fronts fit that. There are also several museums in town. Dad and I stopped at two of them: the Mark Twain Museum and the Way it Was Museum. What we learned was that Mark Twain started his writing career in the building in which the museum is kept in 1862. He was on the editorial staff of the Territorial Enterprise and was still writing under Samuel Clemens. I geeked out a bit over it all, like his desk and the old dictaphones and printing presses and things. So neat.

Pictures: Virginia City )

And that's basically what's been happening. Everyone seems a bit surprised that we'll be home by Saturday (my grandma's birthday), but Dad and I are both ready to be home. I want my own bed and shower and closet. No more living from a suitcase. Plus, it feels like we've been gone longer since we've tried to do as much as possible. We're always driving somewhere.

So one more night on the road and then home.
