Not Judging You, Just Evaluating
May. 13th, 2008 11:44 pmBeing "excepted" to college is not the same thing as being "accepted."
Tonight my parents and I were senior project presentation evaluators at my old high school. The four presentations I saw were all very good, but they had the occasional typo/slip like the one above. I sat there for a couple of minutes just going, "Wait a minute..." So I debated with myself whether to mention it and finally wrote, "Nice presentation blah blah good things. Typo on second to last slide." I didn't want to make a big deal of it, since the presentation is over and done and, really, a few "um"s and "uh"s and a typo in an otherwise decent presentation should not knock the criteria from an A to a B.
There was that and then there was the girl who wrote that she had "five brothers and three sisters" but when she got there she paused, stared at what was on the screen, and said, "Uh. No. I have two brothers and three sisters. Whoops?" Being a small town, everyone had already been going, "What?" It was amusing.
Interesting being on the evaluator side of the proceedings.
Then we came home and watched NCIS, which I enjoyed a lot more than last week. Last week things just felt...off to me. Plus, there had been all of that "Someone could DIE!" hype right before hand and then the main bit of action happened before the opening credits and everyone was FINE. I don't really want anyone to die (though I want some to live a little more than others), but I have to admit that I felt a little cheated.
That and Mom and I were trying to figure out why Ziva was acting so weird with almost getting shot. I mean, yes, she was over-thinking and second guessing herself, but when it comes down to it she's not exactly a stranger to peril or handling herself in perilous situations.
So there was that. And less of everyone else than I would have liked.
But tonight's episode was fun. I liked getting more Palmer, seeing him deal with fear and courage and all that. As soon as he rammed the guy with his car, I said, "Hey, at least he didn't get out of the car." Good going, Jimmy. Even if Gibbs did yell at him. Which was something else that I loved, Gibbs yelling and then being understanding. I like when he does that.
Probie-Wan Kenobi always cracks me up. I don't know. It just does.
Also, DiNozzo was very focused on McGee several times. Not an unusual occurrence, but sometimes I wonder what he's thinking behind all that staring. I mean, I know what I like to think he's thinking, but...
Yeah. So staring and teasing McGee about his irrational fear. Oh, boys.
I liked the Scrabble, Abby and Jimmy, Jimmy's shoe/foot fetish, Abby's face when the hypnosis seemed to work, her thumbs up with McGee. And Ducky missing Palmer. Aww.
Now apparently someone is going to die in the season finale. I repeat, I don't really want anyone to die, but there are some people I would like to stick around more than others. Generally the case, yes, but on a show where I basically like everyone, well, it's a little bit harder for me to figure out who I wouldn't mind losing.
But maybe it's all just a bunch of hype again. Guess I'll just wait and see.
Meanwhile, I am two episodes into season two of Without a Trace and I'm loving the little bits of background story they're dropping. For example, Martin hitchhiked cross-country and taught accounting at a state prison. The first thing surprised me when he mentioned it off-hand and the second thing made me laugh and laugh when he explained it to Danny because, oh Martin, you nerd.
Also, I love this song a lot.
