Winter Quarter 2007

Masculinity in the Middle Ages: A-
Asian American Literature: A
Who gets a cookie? Oh, yes, that would be me. :)
They were hard classes. Especially Masculinity and Irish Lit, what with the insane amounts of reading.
I'm already working on my readings for next quarter. Two of my professors sent out e-mails gently suggesting we get started. I'm currently making my way through an annoyingly marked up copy of Madame de Stael's Corinne, or Italy for 19th Cent. European Novel and have an essay on John Donne to read for Donne and His Critics.
Already they're keeping me busy.

Fall Quarter
Dec. 13th, 2006 11:44 pmSenior Synthesis: A
Buddhist Philosophy: B+
Modernism in Art & Lit: A-
What I was expecting. Especially proud of the Philosophy one, partly because the professor's teaching method could be unhelpful and partly because I kind of really didn't apply myself that hard. I am such a slacker. Oh well.
Yea!! If we had the kind of alcohol I would willingly drink in the house I would totally toast myself.
Cheers!

Can We Fix It? Yes We Can!
Jun. 15th, 2006 11:26 pmI spent 2.5+ hours re-roping fifty year old Venetian blinds. It would have taken less time, but I had to do the right side three times before I got it completely right. By the third time I was frustrated and really just wanted Grandma to shell out the cash for new ones.
But I felt really accomplished when I finally got it right! Go me! With my mad Venetian blind fixing skills.
Grades also came out today.
Ethnic American Lit: A
Asian Religions: A-
Art of the Film: A-
So, yes, all around a non-sucky kind of day. Except for the wind. That was gross. But helpful for the farm, so I guess I won't complain too much.
The stupid weather has cost us roughly $50,000. Not good. Grandma's been complaining about it and I mentioned it to Mom today because, really, I don't have to finish my four years of college in four years. Or I could go somewhere else that's less pricey. (I REALLY wouldn't want to though.) But Mom assures me that we'll be fine and that Grandma just likes to complain.

Dorm Life & Midterms
Oct. 27th, 2005 10:50 pmToday was a pretty decent day. :) Got Astronomy test back (B) with midterm grades thus far (A-). Took Philosophy midterm (first one finished) and I think that went okay. The bad thing about taking a class from a professor you like and respect is that you want to do well and not have them think you're stupid. But sometimes you have off days. English was, for whatever reason, marginally less boring. The sudden synchronized underlining with Julia was pretty funny.
Yesterday I found out that apparently I'm "indispensable" at the library. Not sure how serious she was, but it's a nice thing to hear when I'm always worried that I won't be able to come in one too many times and they'll fire me or something. But apparently I'm the only one that comes in and actually gets things done. My boss knows that she can leave me a project and I'll get it done and done right. So that made me feel pretty good about things.
Speaking of libraries, had another dream last night in which I was working at the library. What's with this recurring library theme?
Bellarmine 7 has turned into the "special" floor. Tonight was the hallway Halloween decorating challenge for all of the floors. Prize is, so I hear, free pizza. So exciting. (So not serious.) *Someone* decided a fog machine would be cool and creepy. *Someone* forgot that fog is very much like smoke and indoors the smoke detector/fire alarm isn't going to recognize the difference. So the seventh floor was evacuated because we live with a bunch of idiots. ::facepalm::
Why me? Why us? This must be payback for something I did in high school.
Gonna go watch Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants now and hope nothing exciting happens for the rest of the night.

Mar. 24th, 2005 02:31 pmSo, watching SV with Neesha totally made me love it again. Yea! I should actually try to write that fanfic for Natasha...I'm such a bad writer. (Not quality, but actually doing things.) Or I should work on the KS thing...Hmm...
When is the WB going to start showing new eps? I want double the Lex now. Not Clark getting married while hopped up on RedK. Sheesh. Although the bit with him and Alicia in the barn before they run off to Vegas? Damn funny. Anyhoo.
It's already Thursday of my spring break. Only...about 4 more days until classes start yet again. Blah. Grades are out for Winter Quarter though. I don't suck as much as I thought! Go team me.

Which means I may be on the Dean's List for a third time (twice in a row even). But, hey, check out that B+. I was certain I wasn't going to do better than maybe a C because of the papers. So when I saw that I just about had a fit. It's a good day when your grades exceed your expectations.
This afternoon Mom and I are going to go to Moses and then we're going to come back and maybe dye my hair and definitely watch more SG-1 season one. I get such a kick out of that show.

Dec. 16th, 2004 12:23 pmGrades for Fall Quarter are out.
Survey of American Literature: A-
Spanish Language 1: B+
Philosophy of the Human Person: A
Not too shabby for a crap quarter, huh? :) I'm particularly pleased with the philosophy grade because, yeah, it's *philosophy*. That crap's not easy.
Go me.
Anyway, I'm going to have to share this with Sara when I get back to school. I think she'll appreciate the ridiculousness of what they were trying to do to The Sandman and the genius of one Neil Gaiman. As much as I'd love to see a movie, I'd love even more to see a *great* movie that follows the story. I'm picky like that sometimes. I remember reading this a long time ago, and thankfully the date is 1998. Which indicates, lord do I hope it indicates, that it's been dropped.
Geez. If it's not broke, don't fix it.
Wonder if NG will get mentioned in Lit Pix? One would hope so.
