Day Three

My Torchwood team icon is sadly outdated. :(

I may have had other things I wanted to say, but we had several hours waiting around for a tow truck in 100+ degree weather and I don't want to think anymore.

So Ianto wants to know what it's like to live forever. Sort of. Or he wants to know what it's like for Jack to live forever and see the people he cares about grow old and die. And it will happen, sooner or later. Ianto's not the first and he won't be the last.

His line about Jack watching him grow old and die got to me. Because I don't think that's going to happen. And the fact that he had to go and say it? Well. I am preparing for the worst. Why have I been so pessimistic about the possible outcome here? I feel like they're telegraphing it and at the very least I don't think the season will end without something horrible happening. They can't kill Jack and they won't kill Gwen.

Plus, Ianto was going to have Owen's storyline last season.

And it would be tragic.

But if he does die, can he haunt Jack for eternity?

I'm sorry, can you tell what interests me in this show? Or what sticks in my mind?

Meanwhile, I love that we don't know what the 456 look like. Creepy things in a tank of poisonous gas and they're just this disembodied voice. You can't do anything with a disembodied voice. You can't interpret body language or facial expressions - not that those would do you much good in an alien species - and you can't judge from inflection. And you just do not know exactly what you're looking at. Except that there is definitely more than one creature in that tank.

What do they want the children for? Why only 12 in 1965 and 10% of the child population now?

Why can Clem smell things? Is that something that happened to him because of the 456? Or was he special before?

I knew Jack was involved! But were the rest of the people on that list Torchwood of that time? And they unfroze Jack to do the dirty work?

Things:

- Body language. What was up with Jack and Ianto sitting on completely opposite ends of that couch? And then Gwen comes and sits between them. Purposeful staging symbolic of something?

I'm going to pretend that they're that far apart because sitting closer would be too much temptation to do the whole "omg you're alive! Let's have life-affirming sex!" thing.

Would it kill them to hug at least? (Won't kill Jack anyway.)

- I need to learn shorthand. It would make my life so much easier, public meeting/newspaper-wise.

- Seriously. Not that impressive that Gwen is running around fighting when she's only three weeks pregnant. Get over it, guys.

I do really like action Gwen.

- Loved the little criminal montage. Jack's charm totally kept people from noticing he was wearing sweats as a waiter. People are so unobservant.

Though, seriously Barrowman, Jack only found Gwen breaking the law sexy? C'mon!

- When Forbisher told Jack he was a better man, I thought he shouldn't be so sure. Jack is pretty decent, but I think there are a lot of lines he would cross for his team and family.

- Speaking of, how great was his daughter? She was taught well. Though Mom thought she should have just shot that woman. They don't want them dead after all, so what could it hurt?
