annundrielFriday afternoon working at the library, two boys came in and were using one of the computers. It's not a big building and the computers are next to the main counter, so I could hear everything they were saying.
What I found absolutely fascinating was the way English and Spanish were combined. The kids just flowed in and out of the two languages, back and forth like it was no big deal. It was really interesting listening to them. And kind of fantastic.

Date: 2008-10-01 12:07 am (UTC)One of the things I love about living where I do is that there is such a large Mexican community. I love the mixing of cultures, any of them. One of the things I do not love about living where I do is the attitude that some people still take toward it.
I just wish that my Spanish were better. Mostly I just feel horrible when I can't help people at the library. Mary for the lose.
