Sep. 7th, 2003 05:27 pmI have a major idea for a new play. Unfortunately I'm not sure what exactly to do with it. Bah.
No, that's not true. I know exactly what to do with it. Write it. I just need to pin down the details and what the idea really means. But if the details remain as good as the vague idea, heh, I'll have a new play to work on!

Date: 2003-09-07 10:42 pm (UTC)The other day I was in Barnes and Noble and I bought a book out of being in a hurry because my ride wanted to go. I realized I didn't want that book once I got home, of course! I went back today and exchanged it for "The Lovely Bones". I started reading it today. I can't wait to see where it goes. =)
P.S. Thats really cool that you have an idea for a play. You should deffinately write it and once you've perfected it get it copyrighted and send me a copy. =P
P.S.S. Oh I'm going to make this whole "P.S." thing really old reall quick. LOL. Oh well, anyway around a week ago my sunday copy of LA Times came with a small fold-out for "Master and Commander" and I was just wondering if you had a P.O. Box or something I could send it to you at.

Date: 2003-09-07 11:03 pm (UTC)I could live in Barnes and Noble. I hope you enjoy The Lovely Bones. Or at least get something out of it. I found it a very moving, very provocative, book.
If I do write this play, it'll be my second. (Third if I count a co-written one from 3rd/4th grade.) I guess you could say playwriting is my fast turning into a little hobby. I'm so going to be famous one day! ;)
A small fold-out you say? Involving what exactly? I'd love to have a copy, but I have no P.O. Box.

Date: 2003-09-07 11:40 pm (UTC)Donnie Darko is about a "troubled" boy who lives in a small town. One of those towns where its so small that everyone knows everyone. And something starts happening. Its hard for me to say anything more without giving anything away. It is a dark movie, but I deffinately recommend it. If you do decide to see it, don't pay any attention to DD pictures and the such online.
Aww, I wish I could sit down and introduce it to you and watch it with you. I own the dvd and love it. Goooood movie.
As far as living in Barnes and Noble, I am right there with you. I am still going to just go there one day from when they open to when they close and just read. Of course with a lunchbreak and whatnot. =)
I didn't know you wrote plays!! Thats awsome! If possible you should e-mail me one or them to me or something. More than interested over here =P And then when you become famous I'll be able to tell people I knew you before you were famous. =D
The fold-out is a small "Master & Commander" poster I get in with my paper. Its about 3-pieces of writing paper tall and 2 pieces wide. It has stuff on both sides. When I got it I thought of you. I just don't have any way of getting it to you, thats why I asked if you had a P.O. Box.

Date: 2003-09-08 12:38 am (UTC)I know that the DD looks interesting from what I've seen. And it certainly sounds interesting. I have always wondered what it was about though. Thanks. I guess now I'm going to have to go find it to rent. One more question. Is there a possibility of it freaking me out?
At the University of Washington, in Seattle, college students practically live in the two-story Barnes & Noble. It's just across the street from the main campus.
I write everything. And just because I write them doesn't mean they're worth anything. My senior year I wrote, "produced", and co-directed a play for a graduating project. It was a success and people seemed to really like it, so I'm pretty proud of it. I wouldn't mind sharing that one. Isn't it great to know people before? :D
Oooh. I almost hate to admit that in a very obsessive way I want the fold-out. I really appreciate the thought. I'll get back to you on the offer. :D

Date: 2003-09-08 01:04 am (UTC)As far as DD freaking you out, it is an eerie movie. Mind if I ask how easily you get scared? Because its not a bad movie. Its also not a huge horror though. Its nowhere near scary like "The Ring" scary. Its just a little eerie. If you don't like eerie, can I recommend watching it during the day? Just as long as you can get into the story and are watching, you're good to go.
A two-story Barnes & Noble!?!?!? Oh, I'm jealous. If I lived anywhere near there, I would want to live in there too. Lucky college students!
If you have a copy of your play online or on your computer that you could e-mail to me, I could check it out. Cool! I think I may have asked you this before, but do you write any poetry?

Date: 2003-09-09 01:58 pm (UTC)I'm not too easily scared...OK, so that's a lie. I freak myself out more than I really need to when it comes to movies. Um, I love the Sixth Sense. The Ring scared the bejeepers out of me while I was watching it, but when it was over I was a little, I dunno, disappointed? (Although 7 days later I did make sure I was still alive.) I guess you could say that I like scary movies if they are psychologically scary. If they challenge preconceived notions.
If I do get a chance to watch DD, I'll make my younger brother watch it with me. Then at least I can fall back on humor if it weirds me out too much.
There is a town (where my family can trace its roots to) in Wales that is practically made of nothing but bookstores.
I'll post my play here on LJ. It's one of the longest things I've ever written. (18 pages.) I do write a little poetry. Mostly I'm a prose girl though.
Psychological Book Prose
Date: 2003-09-09 04:32 pm (UTC)A town made of nothing but bookstores. Hmmmm, I wonder if I would ever be able to convince anyone to go with me? LOL, probably not. But even alone at least I'd have plenty of books to keep me occupied. I'd have to bring an extra bag luggage-wise for the books I picked up there. Oh! Heaven on earth. Well, sort of. LOL.
A prose girl huh? I've written a few poems but I never really got into prose. To be perfectly honest I don't remember the rules to writing prose? Could I get you to post some of yours?
Re: Psychological Book Prose
Date: 2003-09-09 08:29 pm (UTC)Yup, I like prose. Poetry too, but prose comes more naturally to me. Rules to writing prose? I just write! LOL. Whatever comes naturally. If I can find something I feel is worth posting, I definitely won't mind sharing it. :) I'll go dig through my stuff.

Re: Words
Date: 2003-09-08 11:11 am (UTC)Anyway, I didn't actually make the icon so I don't know what the original source would have been.
