On a single episode of Dead Like Me:

- The reapers (as usual) ate at the Waffle House o' Ascension.
- Dr. Janet Frasier tried to sell the Lass' house and proved that, even when not on SG-1, she can still randomly change her hair.
- Maybourne was a priest.
- There was a random dude who'd been a couple of dudes on SG-1.
- Apophis went barefoot, sketched, had a sort of, um, rastafarian (sp?) accent, and totally flirted with George's mom. Mom and I died at realization of who it was.

ME: He looks really familiar. (rewinds and watches)
MOM: Wait. Rewind and pause it on him.
ME (ignores): Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
MOM: Probably, yeah.

Surreal.

I seriously need to rewatch SGA season one, because apparently I'm missing all the good (read: slashy) dialogue.

1x15 - Before I Sleep )

I think I need to watch this ep again. 'Cause really. How did I miss that before? Didn't even really register on the second viewing. At least I'll have an excuse to spend the day watching SGA. Like I need one.

And Neesha will be coming over (whenwhenwhen??) to watch "Avalon Pt. 1&2," "Siege III," and "Intruder." Can't wait. Will be nice to see them with someone who will squee like I do, and who isn't ruined by spoilers and very heavy slash-vision.

Family went and saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory today. Still shiny. Still on crack. I still love it. Bigger crowd than last time.

Then made Mom watch Whale Rider on PBS 'cause she hadn't seen it. Got all weepy.

And now it's...two in the morning. Why the hell can't I sleep like a normal person?

SG-1 - Avalon Pt. 2 )

SGA - Intruder )

Mom may not get the slash (she might, I'm not entirely sure), but she's totally up for some innuendo.

Tomorrow gotta help Mom with a...funeral, I think. Possibly a wedding. But I think a funeral. That's kinda bad that I can't remember which.

Other than that, still doing nothing with my time. There was a thunderstorm, lots of rain. Watched Farscape. In the evening the light turned everything green and gold. Oh, then watched brand new season two DVDs of Dead Like Me. Yea. "I'm so smart, I'm practically retarded." Ha.

Bah! I cannot answer these last two Philosophy study guide questions! And I've been working on it for slightly longer than a week. This is most frustrating.

Brought season 1 of Dead Like Me back with me to school. Looooove the show.

Natasha and I didn't go to bed until 4:30 AM. She then got up at 6:00-ish and I got up at 7:00. I'm currently perfectly fine, and have been through out the day. A rather strange, giddy sort of mood has come over me. Didn't stay up for any real reason really. Just because we were wired and reading fanfiction. I've totally hooked her. Go me! 'Twas fun.

I can't wait for Thanksgiving.

Listening to the RotK soundtrack gets me a little bit more excited about the EE coming out. But I'm still not where I used to be feeling wise regarding LotR. What's happened to me?

There are bats outside making creepy ass bat noises. Last summer Mom and I were in the kitchen with me on my laptop and Mom on the desktop. She turned around and looked at me and went, "Mary, what is that?" nodding toward the window. The screen on the window had been taken out and put back in recently, but apparently the top part was done not so well as attached to the screen, on the INSIDE of the window, was a bat. Needless to say, I left the room until it was gone.

Bad experiences with bats and bat-like scares. Not good.

Mom was watching more of Dead Like Me season 1 when she randomly called me up to the bedroom. KAYLEE from Firefly was on it!! As a goth girl. Who, erm, got squelchy (How do you spell that? Coupling term-ish.) with Mason in the back room sorta thing of a music store. Kaylee is such a slut!

I've got a big urge to go back and re-read all of The Sandman because Neil is, obviously, a genius. Maybe I'll just have to take them with me to SU. Graphic novels are pretty easy to pick up and set down throughout the day. I also want to re-read American Gods, but it feels more like a winter-weather kind of book. (Actually, the whole premise behind it is something I really would have liked to have seen kind of emulated in The Village. Not that the stories are at all alike, they're not.)
Frell, I'm gonna have to cut this, aren't I? Semi-spoilers for the movie. )

They should just make a movie of American Gods. Because that'd be cool. I think. Personally. All of you should go read this book. It's fantastic.

Anyhoo. I did go and see The Village with Neesha and Dahlia yesterday. I wore red. I am brave in ways you will never know. Heh. We were lucky enough to be just slightly late and miss all of the terribly boring, pointless Moses Lake commercials. I had the giggles the first, like, thirty minutes of the movie. As did Neesh a bit. I just couldn't stop! Plus, during the previews, Neesh offered to share her bonbons, but the theater was dark and she didn't say anything and I was talking and gesturing with my hands and, well, most people will realize what happened next. My hand connected and bonbons went flying. It was hilarious. Luckily, no one was injured. (Sorry about that, Dahlia!) Although I think my shoe did get stuck in one. Anyway. Yet again I laughed at inappropriate intervals. There was one part though, where the whole theater was giggling and Neesh turned to me and said, "Should the whole theater be laughing at this?" Very strange sense of almost community.

Anyhoo. Still a pretty movie.

I am now impatiently waiting for Ultraviolet to get here. We wants it, precious! Like, stat.

George: I'd say I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not. I excel at not giving a shit. Experience has taught me that interest begets expectation, and expectation beget disappointment, so the key to avoiding disappointment is to avoid interest. A equals B equals C Equals A, or whatever. I also don't have a lot of interest in being a good person or a bad person. From what I can tell, either way, you're screwed. Bad people are punished by society's laws, and good people are punished by Murphy's Law. So you see my dilemma.

*

[George has just attended her own autopsy]
George: So, what's next? Onward and upward?
Rube: "Onward", not "upward". No pearly gates for you. No choirs of angels, either.
George: You dick! You're sendin' me to hell?

*

Rube: You like spaghetti, George? I like spaghetti. I like board games. I like grabbing a trifecta with that longshot on top. That ozone smell you get from air purifiers. And I like knowing the space between my ears is immeasurable. Mahler's first, Bernstein conducting. You've got to think about all the things you like and decide whether they're worth sticking around for. And if they are, you'll find a way to do this.
George: And what if I don't?
Rube: Then you go away, and you don't get to like anything anymore.

Dude. I love this show so v. v. much. It's funny, it's intelligent, it's touching. For those of you who don't know, Dead Like Me is a show about grim reapers. Georgia (aka George) is around 19 and out on her lunch break her first day of work and is struck by a toilet seat that fell from a Russian space station. She's killed and joins the reapers. Hilarity and angst ensue.

And they have jokes about Monty Python!

*

Anyway. Neesha, you'll be pleased to know that I've got a start on my prologue. Finally. Only a little over 200 words so far, but it hasn't even begun yet so yeah. But I'm happy with it, and this makes me even happier. Should I e-mail it or post it? If posting, do you want to edit it beforehand?

Speaking of which, I'm thinking about posting updates of this story here on my journal as an attempt to keep myself from abandoning it. I was wondering whether my wonderful, darling friends would be willing to give me feedback if I did this. Would you?

SQUEE!!
