Meanwhile, Back in the Dorm
Jan. 13th, 2005 11:05 pmWent to the Frye Art Museum today for Lit Pix and saw their Wondertoonel exhibition. Pretty interesting stuff. The colors were amazing, as were the figures. Really neat, I thought. Beautiful and disturbing at the same time. Lots of image repetition. I wonder what it all means...? Especially the repeating "638" and bees.
On the walk to the museum I talked to the professor about our first paper and voiced my wariness of the class. She was very encouraging about asking for help/advice when I needed it, so now I feel a lot better about taking the class. She seemed approachable before, but now that I know she's approachable through first-hand experience, I'm a little more comfortable with the whole 'omg where are my skills?' issue I was having.
Speaking of Lit Pix...My parents are the Best. Parents. Ever. I called Mom last night to ask her to send my Sandman companion so I can do this paper. Okay, fine, no big deal. Then around 2:30 last night I realized, oh, I might need some of the actual graphic novels. Which meant setting my alarm earlier than I had to just so I could call Mom and catch her before she left the house. I was just going to request a couple of them, but she told me she could send them all. Okay, fine, kinda pricey. Half-an-hour later she calls me and says, "Mary, I'm sorry, but I can't send your books after all." I was half asleep and kinda freaked by this. "What? Why??" She's much too chipper in the morning sometimes. "Because....ROAD TRIP." Mom called in sick to work and she and Dad drove *three hours* to see me for five minutes and give me my books. Now that's what I call love.
"Oh, the things we do for our kids."
So anyway.
I have a smallish piece of fanfiction that I work on whenever I am bored or the mood strikes. I make a big deal about me writing fanfiction, but this is not the first time I've ever done it. It's actually, huh, the....fifth time I've attempted something. And out of the four attempts before, I only ever finished one. And I'm *proud* of that one. It makes me happy, even though its not particularly happy itself. I even posted it on LJ. Heh. Go me. Now, if only I can finish something else...Original or non. Doesn't matter to me.
Watching Jonathan Creek makes me want to read 175 page British mysteries.
