annundrielWell, here I am, all alone. I think it's best if I stay away from the Sci-fi channel and The Twilight Zone tonight.
We bought a couple of books by David Sedaris today. So now I'm reading Dune and Me Talk Pretty One Day.
Last night Mom and I watched Cold Mountain since I hadn't seen it before. My freshman year of high school I did a book report on it. Which I think is something considering everyone else did, like, little paper backs. Excuse my intellectual/literary snobiness. When I finished reading the book, I bawled. When I finished watching the movie, I bawled. So not fair. Read the book, see the movie. Send Charles Frazier hate mail when you bawl.
I'm kidding about that last part. Ignore it please. He's brilliant.
Today we visited Franny and then rented a bunch of movies. Mom and I watched 24 Hour Party People before she left. It's sort of like a documentary/biopic type thing, except also not. The back of the box says "...true story of the raucous anti-establishment explosion that revolutionized the music industry..." It's good and very interesting in a "huh" kinda way. Particularly interesting to see how fast someone can be made and broken in the industry. Quite funny, too. I'd heard a lot about it when it originally came out, and Steve Coogan is in it, so had to eventually see it anyway. (And Shirley Henderson, aka Moaning Myrtle/Jude, which a much lower voice than usual.)
I need to go make dinner. And then I'll probably watch TV and stay up until I can't keep my eyes open watching crap. Or maybe something good. You never know. Hey, I could even go be lame at the movie theater by myself.
