Ideal Fic

Okay, so I figure I should just say this now: at the moment, I am NOT planning on signing up for this year's SPN Big Bang. Those of you who know me in real life know how badly obsessive and indecisive I can be and just thinking about it was giving me hints of panic. So. I think I will be generally a happier person if I can just write my fic without the weight of deadlines or word counts.

[livejournal.com profile] ginnith tells me that I'm writing my planned fic either way and to expect nudging. Which isn't too bad, since it was always the plan to write the fic. This way, though, if it ends up at 8000 words I won't be a failure. :P

I don't want to be a disappointment, guys! I really don't. But I don't feel comfortable enough to throw myself in there yet.

Anyway, here's a writing meme snagged off [livejournal.com profile] shetiger:

If you could have me write a fic specifically for you, what would it be like? Fandom, characters/pairing, genre, plot elements, kinks (if applicable)...what's your ideal fic from me?

Hmmm...ideal fic? That's tough. I love lots of things within the Dean/Cas ship. Though, for meme purposes, I'll say that I really enjoy fics that explore power dynamics between Dean and Cas, while still being heavily grounded in their epic love for one another.

I love those types of fics, too. There's such an interesting balance of power between them, one that kind of see-saws back and forth, and I love seeing that brought in to play. Especially when, as you say, it's grounded in their epic love. Because one might hold more power at any given time, but neither of them are ever completely powerless.

It would probably have to be some insane Alice/Torchwood crossover, in which Jack & Ianto land in wonderland and somehow meet up with Alice & Hatter and WACKINESS ENSUES. The TARDIS may have to show up, at which point the doctor will step out, take one look at Jack/Ianto/Alice/Hatter ans ask 'Ah. This Wonderland then, is it?' and Ianto would be the only one with the capacity for speech and say 'Yep.' and the Doctor would say. 'Oh dear.' and then leave them all standing there gaping. at which point Ianto would sigh and look at the group and mutter something along the lines of 'So thats you're fabulous Doctor, is it' in Jack's general direction :D

OMG. This comment amuses me greatly.

I wonder, though, if Alce and Hatter wouldn't be a little "Whatever" about the TARDIS appearing. Except I love Ianto being the good-head-on-his-shoulders fellow that he is.

My VERY FIRST THOUGHT was that Ianto and Hatter would bond over tea and the brewing of it. I also thought of Disney Hatter, which made me think they would bond over tea but Ianto would be facepalming all over the place of Hatter's outfit and perhaps secretly trying to take his measurements. But then I realized Ianto would probably facepalm over the other Hatter's outfit, too.

After texting you earlier, I actually have decided that if I could make you write anything, it would have to be the J2 Top Chef AU with MR, Tom Welling, Allison Mack, Chad Michael Murray and Christian Kane co-starring. You know the CW peeps.

Or maybe a slightly different version of The Land of Women, J2 style. Something that is loosely based on the movie but obviously ends well for the boys.

Heee, when we were texting the Top Chef AU was the very first thing that came to mind. I'll share the last bit of notes from my ntoebook...which turned nicely into a drabble. Set post the show itself:

Jared loves watching Jensen cook, each movement confident and precise.

It was bad when they first met, when they were nothing more than competitors. Jared just wanted to watch the competence, the artistry, wanted to sit back and watch Jensen do his thing. He couldn't afford to, not when staying meant winning and winning meant more time around Jensen.

Now he can watch Jensen at work, at their homes or restaurants. He can join him with his own slightly more chaotic approach.

This thing with Jensen—this wild, crazy, perfect thing—is the best result Jared could have hoped for.

I have never seen The Land of Women.

I have no idea what my ideal fic would be from you, mainly because any time I've thought about tailor-made fic and mentioned it in some way or other to you in the last 8 years, it's happened. That, and I have no interesting plot bunnies humping around in my brain.

The best thing about you not doing the Big Bang? Now you can focus on the Porn Battle without Big Bang guilt. :)
