Dear Chaucer
Dec. 29th, 2009 09:28 amGet out of my head!
So I said I was glad it was just Donne running rampant with his verse? Well. I dunno what happened. I was avoiding it! I blame Merlin.
So if I was still writing Merlin fic (not that I won't ever again, I just need to catch up) and had enough of a grasp of Middle English to write it myself, I'd do the completely geeky thing and write something Merlin-related in Middle English.
IT WOULD MAKE ME STUPIDLY HAPPY.
Also, I know this is going to sound horrible but I'm going to say it (again) anyway: I love the way that "Arthour" in the first line feels in my mouth. ;)

In th'olde dayes of the king Arthour,
Of which that Britons speken greet honour,
All was this land fulfild of fairye.
The elf-queene with her joly compaignye
Daunced ful ofte in many a grene mede.
This was the olde opinion, as I rede--
I spake of may hundred yeres ago.
