There were two boys at the library yesterday trying to get cheat codes for a video game. The site they were on was dumb, so I Googled for them and found the same cheats elsewhere. Then their computer time ran out because we were closing. So I repeated it on the main computer and printed it all out for them.
They were pretty thrilled with the cheats. And that I helped and they got to keep the cheats. As they were leaving, the one turned around and said, "You're really nice."
When I told Mom, she was like, "I bet they just got the game and were stuck and you've completely made their weekend."
Plus, my cousins and I have always gotten along. And Tris and I text each other a lot and give each other a bad time and team up on video games. I dunno. Kids like me? ::shrug:: I'm fun.
We share a love of video games, comic books, and explosions. (I'm a huge fan of the well-choreographed action sequence.) I know what it's like to want a few cheat codes. Plus, I just got to thinking about how it was the beginning of the weekend, the library's closed until Monday, and they've got no other computer access. I did a good, good thing.
It really was a great way to end the day. Added to that, I helped an older woman get a form from the Department of Veterans Affairs for refilling medication. It wouldn't open on the public access computer, so I used the main one and also e-mailed it to her. At the time, I told her that if I did nothing else that day, at least I helped her. And she added that she'll continue to be well since the form will get her more of her prescription. So really, it was an excellent day all around.
I got it before I was the only sub. From the main librarian. It's become kind of a joke now, since she told a patron to expect "the nice one" and forgot she'd asked the other sub to work. She came back and he was like, "Geez, if you call that nice..."
