SGA - "The Prodigal"
I really, really enjoyed this episode. Except for maybe some of the dealings with Michael. For the most part, though, it felt much more like the Atlantis I love and not the one I've been watching the past season.
- I love Ronon and Woolsey. So much. "I saw you there. It's kind of hard to miss you." I like that Woolsey was trying to find a way to help Ronon with mission reports. But he should have realized Ronon's also not a big talker.
- John and Rodney! And then Teyla! Their little waves! OMG. Boys!
Heh. That was totally John's idea of a date. He totally showed up in the lab with the cars under his arms and cocked his hip and Rodney just couldn't resist. In John's mind he's got it planned out. If John wins, he can comfort Rodney. If Rodney wins, John can congratulate him. It's a win-win situation in John's book.
- Wait, what was that Rodney said about shaft and bush and lube? And then "What?" off of John's look. HA.
- To keep the ZPM powered up longer, shouldn't the keep most of the lights off like that anyway? I'm just sayin'. I mean, unless they've got that many people there now.
- If the power is out, how come all of the doors open? At least Teyla's door. Or is it just "critical" doors that are blocked? ... Okay, so they just locked "immediate access doors."
- I missed John and Rodney doing stuff together. So far this episode reminds me a lot of, say, "Tabula Rasa." Or parts of "Quarantine." What I mean is, it feels more like a season four episode than I season five one.
- That baby Teyla is carrying around is not even close to the size of the actual kid. They can do better than that, can't they?
- "You cannot weaken my resolve." And the people of Atlantis just cannot own up to the fact that what they did to Michael was wrong and this is all their own fault.
- Lorne and zelenka being all "Michael? WTH?"
- Is this going to be another one of those situations where the main part of the bad guy's goal isn't reached because he gets distracted by personal vengeance? I seem to be seeing that a lot lately.
- Stun bubble. HA.
- OMG. I just realized why I'm enjoying this so much and it makes me feel like a terrible person, but whatever. NO KELLER.
- MICHAEL: Why can't you understand? I have become what I am out of necessity. The need to survive!
TEYLA: You became what you are out of vengeance.
MICHAEL: Do you not punish criminals in your world? Are they not brought to justice?
TEYLA: Is this justice to you? Killing hundreds of thousands of innocent people across this galaxy?
MICHAEL: They would not be dead had you not made me the subject of your vicious experiment! Their blood is on your hands!
- John and Rodney quarreling. Heee. Aw. And Zelenka's face when they leave.
- RONON: You can fight?
BANKS: Five years kickboxing.
RONON: It's good to know.
That was fantastic!
- He threw Ronon off a balcony! He looked kind of like a ragdoll. :(
- That is a remarkably quiet baby, what with Teyla running around with him like that. Oh, never mind. He made a little bit of noise and almost got them caught.
- I love the lighting in the 'jumpers and the way they make everyone look so pretty. Not that they aren't all pretty anyway.
- McKAY: What are you doing?
SHEPPARD: I'm flying the Jumper; I'm crashing it into the tower.
McKAY: Crash it?
SHEPPARD: Look, it is our best chance of taking out Michael's Jumper.
McKAY: Not to mention taking out yourself!
SHEPPARD: I have crashed Jumpers into the tower before.
McKAY: Not like this, you haven't! Look, in addition to the weapons, the inertial dampeners are out. You'll need to impact Michael's Jumper with enough force to do some serious damage, which means a lot of speed when you hit that tower. Look, this is a suicide mission.
So it's maybe a little perverse of me, but I love when John wants to go on suicide missions. Or starts to hint at being willing to. Because then Rodney gets all, "Oh no you don't!" and worried and it becomes even more clear that they care about each other.
McKAY: Okay. You're good to go. (Unplugging his tablet as Sheppard comes back to the pilot's seat.)
SHEPPARD: Make sure that strike team's ready to move as soon as that field drops.
McKAY: I will. You make sure you don't accelerate too fast coming out of the Jumper Bay. I mean, if you hit the gas too hard, you're gonna flatten like a pancake.
SHEPPARD: Right. (McKay sighs anxiously. Sheppard looks round at him.) What?
McKAY: Well, it's just...um...what you're about to do is...
SHEPPARD: Yeah. Well, it's not like it's the first time. How many suicide missions have I flown?
McKAY: I don't know. I lost count.
SHEPPARD: Right, well, there you go.
McKAY: All right. Well, you know...(He stands up, offering Sheppard his hand.)...here's to many more.
And then they just barely clasp hands when Zelenka interrupts. AH! Their FACES. And voices! And HANDS. Everything, basically.
- No kamikaze run! They're both so relieved!
- Yea, Teyla! But I'm still not happy about them not owning the fact that they started it. Not that that excuses Michael's behavior.
- WOOLSEY AND RONON. ♥
- And back to the cars! Oh, boys. How I've missed you. ♥

Date: 2008-11-14 10:40 pm (UTC)I was also questioning the whole quiet-baby thing. With all of Michael's yelling and the noises, ANY baby would be screaming its head off. Then when things go absolutely still, it starts fussing. Sheesh. Crazy babies.
I really loved at the end with Ronon handing over the mission report. It's hard not to know it was going to be so blunt and simple. I loved it.
Also. Tonight's episode. I'm super excited and am really glad it's happening. It's all I asked for before the end of the series. Woohoo!

Date: 2008-11-14 10:45 pm (UTC)My favorite parts all had to do with John and Rodney and Ronon and Woolsey. Ronon and Banks were pretty great, too. I've really missed John and Rodney teasing and squabbling and acting like an old married couple (the thing about the 'jumpers not being fixed when Rodney had two years). And then the worry and relief and the hand shake!
Ahem. Sorry. It's been awhile since I've felt this flaily over them.
Yea, tonight!
