Project Runway - 5.12

Liked: Jerell, Korto, Leanne

Borderline: Kenley

- TIM GUNN BOBBLEHEAD.

- Mom spent the first part of the episode naming all of the flowers that were shown.

- I wasn't sure I was going to like Jerell's dress as he was working on it. But in the end, I thought it was really lovely and the most visually interesting.

- Kenley's design was...really blah I thought. It wasn't new. It wasn't different. It just kind of...was. I don't completely hate it, but I'm generally unimpressed with it.

- Korto kept calling her inspiration flower one thing and Mom kept going, "No, it's not!" I finally suggested that maybe they call it something different regionally. As for the gown, I thought it was nice, soft and lovely.

- Leanne's dress was nice, too, but it felt like something I've seen before. Like something I've seen before from another contestant on PR, but I can't quite place it. Hmm. Anyway, I liked it, except for the weird bit of blue at the back. That just seemed kind of random. And I agree with whoever said (Michael?) that Leanne's designs always have a sort of sad quality about them. They are rather somber.

- And no one is eliminated. I was kind of expecting that, actually.

While we were watching PR, Mom and I were discussing the events described in this article. Seriously, it's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read. But it lead to the following conversation that amused me.

MOM: I don't think you should be able to cite an Adam Sandler movie unless
you've seen it.
ME: I don't think you should be able to cite an Adam Sandler movie period.
MOM: Not even Happy Madison.
....
ME: That's Happy Gilmore. And Billy Madison.

See, the whole time I was thinking how stupid everyone was because it's not like the producers on the show are unfair or tricky or anything. If she's bought it, she's bought it.

She's not the first contestant to pull that sort of defensive whining, though. That may be the behavior when criticized on the runway (and I'm not condoning it here), but that doesn't necessarily mean that's going to be crossover into more "real world" situations.

I remember in earlier seasons - at least in season one, specifically - the judges and Tim being all, "You guys just keep doing enough to not get kicked off. Step it up!"
