There could be things in here that make no sense. My excuse is that I've been up since 5:30.

SGA - "The Queen"

It was okay. Not great. Not horrible. Rachel Luttrell was great.

Things I observed:

- Where'd the credits go? Did they cut them so that we could have a minute of something else? Why cut the credits when you can cut the surgery montage?

- I liked the Team in the 'jumper.

- I wonder what Michael's Wraith name was. Do they have names? How do they refer to other Wraith who aren't queens? Or the Primary. Do they only use names they can put a "the" in front of?

Only now I just see Todd going around being all, "Don't hate on the Todd, yo!"

- "Not to mention I could stop waiting for the chance to kill you. In theory."

- The bit where the Team plus Keller was sitting around talking with Todd? Pretty Team! I noticed Rodney first. And then John. And Ronon. But I thought Rodney was especially lovely this episode.

- I really liked the first shot of John and Teyla in John's room. How they were set as far apart in that space as it was possible to get them and that the camera showed us that. There was even a beam between them I think.

- What's Keller's expertise/field?

- "Just remember, anything happens to her there won't be anywhere in the galaxy for you to hide."

Ronon was very good this episode. I love what we get to see of his relationship with Teyla.

- Rodney turning away from viewing Teyla's surgery.

- The waiting room.

SHEPPARD: Just relax.
McKAY: I can't. I had like three cups of coffee. I'm completely wired.
RONON: I hadn't noticed.

- Rodney and John reassuring Teyla that if anything went wrong or she wanted out they were right there for her. And Ronon being all, "Just be careful out there."

- At first I was all, "WTF, Todd?!" And then I understood. Power struggle. And Teyla really pulled it off. Even if she was the tiniest Wraith queen in the history of the universe.

- I like Todd quite a bit. He's got a great voice.

- Kenny! Heh. "When did we start calling him that?" And Rodney wanting to take a vote next time.

- Kenny! "I do not know. I am not on the ship." I like these Wraith with attitude.

- The bit about the beaming technology and John being all, "Why'd you mention it?" Because it's cool. And totally not helpful right then. But still, cool. John will appreciate that later.

- I thought John's trick with the 'jumper was great. "That's impossible. The enemy hive just exploded."

- And once again we got Rodney not looking when he shoots, holding the gun as far away from him as possible as he pulls the trigger. Granted, it looked like he hit his targets. But scenes like this, and the one in "The Siege, Pt. 3," only make me think of the end of "The Defiant One" and how different Rodney was with a weapon there.

I mean, I understand the backslide from, say, a comedic point of view, but I don't care for it. Rodney's a competent individual. Why can't he look like one? Though I hadn't really thought before about why he holds a gun the way he does now when he's shooting. I wonder if you could read it as Rodney wanting to get as far away from that sort of behavior as possible. That is, he's expressed concerned about certain types of killing before, so it could be a manifestation of that.

Only I don't believe that. Because they're Wraith and were they blowing them up, Rodney would have no problem with it. So I guess I can't really get deeper than, "it's funny to watch Rodney shoot at things."

Plus, it only happens sometimes. I do like to think of "The Defiant One" as proof that Rodney is extremely capable when he's got the right motivation and something that really matters is on the line.

- Teyla couldn't kick the bald Wraith's ass on her own?

- I'm sorry, but all I could think was "deus ex laziness." Laziness ex machina? Whatever. It just felt like the last ten minutes the writers were like "la la la bored now" and then ended it.

- After John says, "What have you done to her?" and Teyla is all, "Haha, very funny," John gives this little shifty duck face. It made me laugh.

- Todd in control of the alliance. It only makes me think of Todd in control of the Alliance and chasing Mal and his crew across the 'verse because he wants River.
