Designs I liked: Jerell, Kenley, Korto, Leanne, Terri
Borderline: Blayne, Daniel, Keith, Kelli, Suede
Meh: Emily, Jennifer, Joe, Stella
- Blayne freaks me out a little. Like that whole part where Kenley looked up and he was staring at her with his crazy eyes. Paired with, "I'm gonna eat you." Yeah. Creepy. And his design was, eh, whatever.
- Daniel's design did little for me. It was nice, but nothing that really stood out. This week I actually noticed how old he is. It's just weird realizing that several of these people are really close to my age.
- I was kind of sad to see Emily go, just because I was enjoying her personality. But the dress reminded me vaguely of what we wore when my tap dance class performed the can-can in, like, the second grade.
- I'll admit to liking the colors that Jennifer chose. I like the contrast between really deep blues and creams.
- I feel sort of bad for never really having anything to say about Jerell. I liked the dress. And Jerell takes care of his skin. Go him.
- In Tim's recap, he calls Joe's design "humdrum." Yeah, what he said.
- Keith's dress, I think, had potential. Looking at pictures, maybe if he'd made the bodice into something different, something structured, and only done the floaty thing on the skirt it would have worked better.
And, as if I wasn't already in love with Tim Gunn, he used "obfuscated" in regards to what the layers did to his model's shape. Oh, Tim.
- Kelli's was visually very interesting, and I go back and forth from liking it to being a little overwhelmed by parts of it. Is it just me, or does it seem like she spends a lot of time at other people's stations talking?
- I liked Kenley's. I would have liked it more if the main fabric had been less busy. Or maybe just different colors or a different print. Mostly, though, I thought it was cute.
- I didn't understand how Korto's design fit her inspiration. I can't even remember what her inspiration was.
- I loved Leanne's design. A lot. I kind of thought she was going to win. Especially since she learned to edit herself so quickly.
- I was impressed that Stella made pants since those hardly ever show up on PR's runway.
- SUEDE, SHUT UP ALREADY. I'm thinking maybe Suede has multiple personalities. Like there's Suede and then there's the guy who talks about Suede. So it's not really Suede talking about himself in the third person, but the personality that doesn't think it's as creative and isn't as dominant praising the creative/dominant one.
- I really liked Terri's design. Very cool.
- "Holla atcha boy!" It's okay, Tim! I don't know what it means either!
Today when I got to the library, Shannon was finishing some things up so I was flipping through some old issues of Time that she was tossing. I ran across an article about Stephanie Meyer called, "The Next J.K. Rowling?" in which the writer said this:
It made me laugh. Because whether or not you like the books, I think you have to admit that's kind of true.
And then the writer compared the Twilight books to fanfiction, saying that "they have a pillowy quality distinctly reminiscent of internet fanfiction." Which, okay, yes they do. But at the same time I kind of want to stand up and say that I've read a lot of fanfiction that's also way better.

Rowling pieces her books together meticulously, detail by detail. Meyer floods the page like a severed artery. She never uses a sentence when she can use a whole paragraph.

Date: 2008-08-01 05:19 am (UTC)I thought Kenley's dress was too much like her model was wearing a Kremlin onion dome for a bottom and it made it look like she was smuggling whole chickens on the one side. I absolutely adored Leanne's dress and I'm sad she didn't win and that Kenley of all people won that one. Uh.. I had something else to say in regards to yesterday's ep, but now I forget.

Date: 2008-08-01 05:56 am (UTC)I like Keith except for his stupid hair. I thought Emily looked like a brunette Heather Graham.
Blayne is from Yakima. 'nuff said.
I did really want Leanne to win this one.
PR = Crack
Date: 2008-08-03 02:17 am (UTC)I also really liked Leanne's separates! I like Kenley but I really don't understand why she won this one.. Also why did everyone think Terri's was so great? I thought it was boring and shapeless!
p.s. Tim <3 !
p.p.s. I've gotten through a good chunk of Ugly Betty but haven't started on Torchwood, Also I burnt all of the IT crowd for you :)
Re: PR = Crack
Date: 2008-08-03 02:21 am (UTC)I really like Kenley so far. And while I did like her design, I thought it would have been better with...less color/pattern. And, really, Leanne should have won.
I guess with Terri's design I just really liked the color and flow of it. But not the cuffs on the sleeves.
Yea IT crowd!! And yea Ugly Betty! What do you think of it?
PS. We need to get together sometime.
