To Be Alone

I'm really looking forward to house-sitting this summer. Really. Even though I will have to try not to freak myself out in the middle of the night when the dog starts growling at nothing.

I'm not actually looking forward to that part. But! I am very much looking forward to having an entire house to myself. Well, except for the dog and the birds. It'll be nice to be able to choose to be alone and not feel guilty about it.

Some days there is just nothing I like more than not being bothered. And lately that's been true a lot. I've been spending a lot of time with my door closed, reading or writing, because I don't even want to hear anyone else. Summer's the worst, too, since a lot of the time people will be hanging out in the living room and I don't exactly feel comfortable ignoring them as I try to get from one part of the house to the other. I tend to hide out a lot. In my own home.

So, yeah, looking forward to July.

Ugh, your post reminded me of this terrible trailer I saw for the movie "The Strangers." There's this part where Liv Tyler is standing in the kitchen, and it's all quiet and you just see this crazy guy with a bag over his head some up behind her and it's all quiet. ACKKKKKKKKKK.
