SGA - "Midway"
The last two weeks I've taken viewing notes next to whatever sudoku puzzle I was working on. Appropriate or very appropriate?
I really enjoyed tonight's episode. Nothing really cringe-worthy and plenty of stuff going on so I was never bored. Basically, I thought it was fun.
Random things:
- "It's bad to kick the crap out of people with a baby on the way." Well said, John.
- I thought the landscape and the lighting on the planet that the Wraith were using was very SG-1-esque. The way it was shot, too.
- Teal'c! Yea, Teal'c. Except for the hair. The hair's a little funky. So I was kind of glad Carter asked about it. It did grow on me by the end, though.
- Staring contest. At first I was a little bit annoyed at Ronon for being so dead-set against Teal'c for no apparent reason, but then I realized that he wouldn't like someone coming in and telling him that how he does things isn't the best or only way.
- Teal'c talking about food and being partial to tater tots. And then pulling that whole "Satedans suck" line of questioning with him to prove his point.
- Chuck keeping track of the betting. But what are they going to use the money for in Pegasus? And I kind of had a feeling they were going to back out of actually giving us a winner to that fight.
- Kavanagh cut his hair!
- Lee showing Ronon and Teal'c to their shared room and the whole "have some tea and get to know each other better."
- KAVANAGH: My allegiance is not that strong!
LEE: Believe me, it isn't.
- I was waiting for Kavanagh to faint.
- The Wraith stunner-ball-thing was pretty clever.
- "As soon as McKay gears up we're ready to go." And McKay barely protesting at all. I just liked that John wasn't going to go without him.
- McKay was very lock-and-load and competent with weaponry this episode, I felt. It was good to see.
- I always love Rodney's big "oh no, John!" face whenever John goes off to do something dangerous and heroic.
- Ronon calling Teal'c on "indeed." And Teal'c being surprised.
TEAL'C: I had not noticed.
RONON: Indeed.
- Teal'c, everyone wants Ronon's gun. Someone needs to get to making some.
- "Rodney, talk to me." That was total aural porn. All of John talking to Rodney over the radio was, with his voice and the breathless quality and roughness, but that part especially. I don't know. It was good.
- "We made a terrible mistake. We revived Kavanagh." I don't mind Kavanagh. And, y'know, I can't really entirely blame him here. Sure, Rodney said that he didn't want to take unnecessary risks, but he also didn't really explain himself, just expected Kavanagh to take that leap and figure out what he meant. Plus, he was distracted. Basically, I'm saying no one was particularly stupid. It was an accident caused by a lack of sufficient patience and communication.
- Rodney's "John" and worry about time and venting all the air. And then Rodney's face after the air's been vented and he think's John's died and it's basically his fault. Oh, Rodney. But then John found the spacesuits that we'd glimpsed earlier and Rodney found John and it was all good.
- Is nuking the SGC really the answer? Really?
- Loved Ronon's "not without Teal'c" moment. He really grew on him, didn't he? And Teal'c's part of the team and the team doesn't get left behind.
- TEAL'C: Excellent timing.
RONON: Indeed.
- Loved what we saw of the interview, with Ronon's "yes" and the new IOA guy's "good enough for me." And then Ronon and Teal'c in the corridor. Aw.
- As they cut back to the 'jumper, Mom said, "I hope someone brought a deck of cards." Heh. Poor Rodney, stuck in the back. And John locking himself in the front with his headphones and falling asleep. Then Ronon poking him awake! I laughed and laughed. John is just...adorable. Plus, Ronon really does have a lovely smile. Great ending.
