GOOD weekend in Seattle. Mom asked me if I miss it. I do a bit. But mostly I miss the people. ::hugs::

Only ended up watching Tristan. Callie went to Whidby Island with a friend. Tris got back around midnight on Friday dead tired. In the morning he woke up with Sheppard hair. omg so cute! He also went around saying "that sucks, yo." Ha.

Saturday we went to the mall and I got my bridal shower shopping done. Yea. The lady at Bath and Body Works was very nice and helpful in a way that was entirely non-annoying. She also had neat green-hazel eyes. And, omg, I found Good Neighbors/The Good Life on DVD!! The whole series. I am so friggin' thrilled. The show is *so* far before my time, but I caught it once on PBS and LOVE. Felicity Kendal is the cutest thing ever and Richard Briers cracks me up.

But why is it called something different in the US? Are we too stupid to understand the title The Good Life?

Saturday night I was flipping through channels and zoomed past Lifetime only to do a double-take and zoom back because I though I spotted someone I recognized. I was right! It was something called Silencing Mary and it starred Melissa Joan Hart, Corin Nemec (Jonas!) as her boyfriend, and Teryl Rothery (Dr. Frasier!) as a detective/cop. I stopped because of CN and had a cow, scaring Tris in the process, and then flailed a little more when TR showed up.

And then last night I couldn't sleep so I watched part of Nip/Tuck on FX and holy *crap* but that's a good show. I mean, damn. It was the episode with the stigmata-woman and I got to see it from Liz telling Christian about the abortion and Sean coming in and beating the crap out of him. "I loved you the most." Which means what exactly? Sean loved Christian more than Christian loved Sean?

Just...fanfuckintastic show.

"I need to believe in something."

"Don't you get it? There is nothing left to believe in anymore."

LOVE.

I may need to buy it on DVD.

Also rented and watched Brigadoon because I'd never seen it before. Mom discovered I didn't even know what it was about when we drove over Stevens Pass and there was a sign for a town that seemed to not be there at all. Anyway. Loved it. How could I not? I mean Gene Kelly. We laughed our asses off at "hot headed Harry" trying to flee the village though. At one point he looked *exactly* like Mr. Peepers from SNL. 'Twas funny I tell you.

Friday's ep of Firefly was "Shindig." How did Inara know how much pressure it takes to cut skin? Was the fencing part of her, what I assume would be well-rounded, training at the academy? Of all the people on Serenity, I think it's Inara and Book I'm most curious about. And River. But Inara and Book are the ones we probably won't find out too much about.

SG-1 - "Beachhead"

Mom didn't like this episode. Like, at all. I liked parts of it. Other parts were just sort of meh.

- Daniel shaved!

- Sam is back!

- Vala is adorable with the uniform and the pigtails and the scarf. Aw.

- I had a friggin' cow when I saw the guest credits. Maury Chaykin, aka Nero Wolfe! A goa'uld! *So weird.* It was also weird to hear a flanged voice like that being all excited and friendly. Kinda didn't go together.

- The supergate thing was neat.

- Starting to wonder if the writers are writing themselves into a corner. They're setting the Ori up to be pretty darn near invincible. Hopefully they know where they're going.

- The thing that drove me nuts was Daniel's "we must think outside the box." But the whole time he's completely ignoring Vala who isn't really inside the box. She does things that you're not necessarily expecting her to do. And because she's a thief and a liar, she's had to be creative. Look outside the box that is SG-1, Daniel, and listen to Vala for once.

- Mom made the observation that Vala wasn't happy not being the only female around.

- Gonna miss Vala. Am also a bit worried about her. And, aw, Daniel was worried. I just know he was.

Overall? I enjoyed it. But I'm pretty easy to entertain.

Apologies beforehand with the SGA thoughts. I don't think I can get through it without excessive use of CAPS and exclamation points. As an English major and a scholar I realize I should be able to articulate my thoughts in a more learned manner, but, um, no.

SGA - "Trinity"

So, is it just me, or wat that just a big piece of McKay/Sheppard fanfiction that was broadcast on Friday? 'Cause, whoa, it really felt like it.

omg.

There were a couple of moments where I almost couldn't believe what I was hearing/seeing. I think I spent most of the episode slack-jawed and bug-eyed.

SQUEE!!

I mean....just.... ::flail:: John and Rodney and Zelenka. Ronon is even growing on me. I think I'm gonna like him. :) And Teyla kicked ass and I love her and I didn't think I would when the show began last year. Was glad to see Elizabeth putting her foot down with Rodney, even cheered a little. Unfortunate that Rodney had to go to John and do his whole "trust me" thing (that part was not unfortunate) and Elizabeth moved her foot out of way once again. Sigh.

Can't really do the "moments I loved thing" because there were too many. And I need to watch it again. (Three times!) Basically anytime John and Rodney were on screen I was a happy crab panda with a ridiculously large grin trying to escape. And I wouldn't have been trying to keep it contained, but I was watching with just Mom and didn't want to freak her out.

But, anyway.

- David Hewlett is fucking brilliant. Joe Flanigan is brilliant and I'm loving him and John more and more every day/episode. David Nykl is also v. good, so much so that I would consider watching Pterodactyl (which I have been making fun of every time there's a commercial) just for him. Unfortunately (fortunately?), I have a wedding reception to go to that night.

- Zelenka had the stomach flu. Aw. Poor Radek. :( I wonder who nursed him back to health...

- Don't they know that it's a bad idea to compare things to the Manhatten Project? Most of the episode I was covering my face, peeking through my fingers, and going, "stop, stop right now....bad idea....don't do that..." In between the big gaping silences when I would have been squeeing if not for the shock at actually seeing what I was seeing.

- I am in love with the science team montages.

- Totally called Collins's death. As soon as he made it into more than one shot with McKay and/or Zelenka. And then when he got a name I knew he was toast. Hee. Bad word choice.

- Was seriously afriad the Daedelus was going to get blown up, too.

- Rodney going to John with his dead scientist story. And asking John to trust him and go out on a limb for him.

- The end! :D <3 I'm personally going with the optimistic reading of this scene. And the fact that Rodney smiles and then his face falls again as John leaves, well, it's him acknowledging the fact that eventually (probably not that long) they'll be fine again and the face-fall is acknowledging that he screwed up and he knows he screwed up and he's disappointed in himself, etc. He didn't seem too concerned about the solar system, but I think he was/is and we just don't get to see that. They hardly ever touch on how losing so many of his science team affects him, so I wouldn't be too surprised if Rodney's pushing it all to the back of his mind or something. Anyway.

The existence of this end scene and the way the actors played it is one of the main reasons why I love this show and can't go back to Smallville. This would *never* have happened on SV. Lex would have asked Clark to trust him, Clark would have, Lex would have screwed up, Clark would have ignored him and then done his pissy holier-than-thou routine, and Lex would have gone home and gotten drunk while staring moodily into the fire. I think this episode actually happened. Several times.

But here we have Rodney asking John to trust him, John doing that vocally (because he's pretty much always trusted him without saying it explicitly), Rodney screwing up in a spectacular, solar-system-sized way, Rodney admitting he screwed up and asking for forgiveness, and John forgiving him. Well, holding out the possibility of forgiveness. But it's there and it's gonna happen.

So, yes. LOVE.

Mom says this is what happens when you have mature characters.

I had been really worried about his episode because I love McKay and I love the (slashy or not) Sheppard/McKay dynamic and I really didn't want Rodney or that relationship to be broken. I now know there was no reason to worry. :) What I'd like to see now is Sam on SGA saying something and Shep defending McKay in front of both of their faces before McKay gets a chance to defend himself. I can just see the lovely surprised look on Rodney's face.

And, because [livejournal.com profile] oxoniensis has screen-capped the ep, one of my favorite little moments from "Trinity." Because I am shallow and easy. Love that his enthusiasm is catching. John and Radek are also pretty smiley in the 'jumper.

omg, isn't he adorable? They should let him smile more. :)

Also, new icon! ::points:: Also by [livejournal.com profile] oxoniensis.

Hey, look, no excessive CAPS and exclamation points. Go me.

One question though. Who is Dr. Vogel and why does he love pastry so much? Speaking of, there was a lot of pastry in this ep. (Okay, not a *lot*.) Where did Rodney get that donut? Did the Daedalus go back to Earth and bring some with? Did the Ancients have a Krispy Kreme? I'm betting next week they find Starbucks on one of the unexplored piers/levels/wings.

Gonna go watch The Good Life now. Yea.
