I'd Walk to You if I Could Trust My Feet
Apr. 3rd, 2005 11:20 pmIt was a good weekend. Twins birthday today. Went to Robots with them and thoroughly enjoyed it. Cute movie. Watched an episode of Nip/Tuck on FX last night. Enjoyed it lots though had little idea what was going on. Also bought another Tom McRae CD. Took me forever to actually find another. How much do I love him? Like, lots. He's brilliant. Like, woah.
And I wish I could comfort you
If love is our defense
It's alright I can comfort you
If you let me I could love you to death
- "A Day Like Today"
Shape your mouth to fit these words of war / I
see the arrows falling backwards burning for a
cause I'll swim with you until my lungs give out /
Oh I can raise you from the deep or drown with
you in doubt
- "Mermaid Blues"
I just realized now that his voice kind of reminds me of Damien Rice. Huh. Also, I swear he's not as depressing and "oh woe" as those two quotes make him sound. Honest. Though the first time I heard him it was "You Cut Her Hair" and it was on a fanvid for Farscape and the whole bit where John-with-Scorpius-Nuero-Clone kills Aeryn. I was impressed, obviously, and now I'm a fan.
Anyhoo. Everyone just ignore me.
SG Fan Question of the Day: In all of my fanfiction reading, why has Stargate been the only fandom to make me teary while reading? On the sad/upsetting stories, my reactions have been much more emotional than in other fandoms. (Except for a few Sparrington fics, and one in particular, that have pushed me close to crying.)
What's interesting is that I'm already this emotional over some of the stuff that I've read and I'm only really just entering the universe that is SG-1 and SGA.
The reason I bring this up is because the fic I just read made me cry. But it was good, in a beautiful, fragile way. And maybe after "end" was written the Asgard or Hammond will show up and it will be fine. And maybe it won't. But what's there is just right though terribly sad.
So, that's one SG-1 and one SGA fic to make me tear up so far in fandom. (There's probably more SGA fic, actually. In fact, there was one just last week that got me darn close...) But there's also some really hilarious stuff. Most of the SGA stuff has McKay snarking and that's always good. The McKay/Sheppard stuff makes me particularly happy. Though the McKay/Zelenka stuff is gaining. It's funny that I'm having some trouble getting into McKay/Beckett because that was the first slash pairing I noticed on the show itself. Possibly because they're the first two to get snippy at each other. And, well, I was a little put-off by Shep in the beginning because, well, he was pretty and the hair and how was I supposed to know before watching that he was wonderful? Plus, Carson's got that Scottish thing going for him, so yeah.
Um, how come these SG thoughts always devolve into slash? Explain this to me.

Date: 2005-04-04 07:32 am (UTC)2. The chick who was NotJulia and seeing NotJulianMcMahon...Sean!...she committed suicide and Sean sat there and held her hand. And Julian McMahon's hands slipped and his cadavor head fell on the floor during re- re-...re-something. Trying to get their licenses renewed. So he went to the morgue and practiced on random dead Jane Doe. Also, an older woman wanted her guy, as well as herself, to get lifts down to places that I really just do not want to think about.
Anyway. Didn't get to see the end, but I really enjoyed it despite not knowing exactly what was going on. Do you have any on tape/DVD and would you be willing to share? :)
How's your schedule Wednesday/Thursday for meeting up?

Date: 2005-04-05 07:39 am (UTC)Um. But, yeah. Maybe around 3 on Thursday? Would that work for you?
Russ's teeth in your icon kinda scare me. Makes me think, "What's he want me for? What did I do? OMG he's gonna eat my non-exsistant babies!!"
Don't mind me. I'm sleep deprived!
