Sometimes Brit Lit delivers.

::discussing Heart of Darkness::
DR. SMITH: Rivets are...
JEFF: Rivets are blah blah bliddy blah (I stopped paying attention, you see)
LADY WHOSE NAME I CAN'T REMEMBER: That's riveting.

Had a pretty nice weekend. Mom came over Friday and it was really good to see her. We went to the mall and bought out Suncoast. Angel Season 5, Wonderfalls, and Stargate SG-1 Season 1. Yea. Shiny things to distract me from the crap that is school. Didn't do much other than that on Friday. Kinda took it easy. Saturday we went to the mall again and bought a couple of shirts. They're pretty. One of them is this cashmere sweater that I've been looking at for at least a month. It had been pretty expensive, but I got it on sale 65% off. Go me.

Then Kay, Mom, and I went and saw Closer. So good. Pretty people being pretty fucked up. Natalie Portman was great. Clive Owen was (is this a surprise?) *awesome*. (And not bad to look at. The part with the sweater and the jeans and the no shoes? Mmhmm. Very nice.) Anyway. I'm really interested in the fact that I didn't actually hate any of the characters for what they did. Also really liked the ending. And Damien Rice rocks. As I've said before.

And so it is
Just like you said it would be
Life goes easy on me
Most of the time

And so it is
The shorter story
No love, no glory
No hero in her sky

The song's great. And really does fit the movie, especially if you listen to the whole thing. I don't think the final line of the song actually made it into the film anywhere, but I could be wrong.

Anyhoo. Sunday we watched the Oscars. Personally, I'm glad Million Dollar Baby won Best Picture. I've only seen Finding Neverland beside MDB in that category, but I don't think I would have liked the others, or have been touched/moved to the same extent by the others, as I was by MDB. Great film. See it.

Now Mom's gone and I'm stuck at school and blah. Can't wait for spring break.
