Friday's Supernatural
Mar. 1st, 2011 10:55 pmSupernatural - "The French Mistake"
Count me on the side that enjoyed it. Parts of it didn't make a whole lot of sense--like Virgil being able to use Misha's blood to call Raphael when magic doesn't work--but whatever. It was more fun than I've had the rest of the season.
My mom has taken to calling Misha "the weepy pretty man."
This has also happened several times:
ME: ::minding my own business::
MOM: ::comes in looking like I'm going to have to get ready for a funeral::
ME: OMG What's wrong??
MOM: They killed Misha.
It keeps working. Next time she comes in looking like someone kicked her puppy, I'm not going to fall for it. I swear. Probably.
Randomly, because I feel compelled to make a post but don't really have anything to say:
- Loved the bit with the "acting." Especially Misha and all of his reactions. The "what the hell?" to the camera in particular.
- THE TWEETING. Oh, Misha. "Frowny face."
- I thought Gen looked fantastic. I love her slightly shorter hair. Also, ALPACAS.
- Can you imagine the kind of ghost hunting Dean and Sam could do with that kind of money?
- The question is: did Balthazar create this reality he shoved Sam and Dean into, or did he actually shuffle them off to an alternate reality? I like the alternate reality idea personally because then it works with ideas I've had for slightly more crack-filled pairings. (Or threesomes.) Also, I like imagining what may or may not have happened to alternate Jared and Jensen. Obviously they couldn't get shuffled into Sam and Dean's places, but I like the idea of them in a Quantum Leap-esque waiting room. With their own Al. (Oh. Does this mean Al is an angel? Oh, the ideas.)
- This is my favorite Balthazar episode. I don't hate him, but I don't OMG LOVE him. I did really like him here, though. Interesting vibes with Cas at the end.
- I loved bendy Matrix dude. There's a story there.
- Cas has all the weapons. Yea, Cas? I hope that Balthazar's words don't end up being prophetic. “Well, Cas, now you have your sword, try not to die by it.”
- I've seen people say that they think Dean/Castiel is really taking a hit this season, and that this episode in particular was bad for it. I disagree. I mean, things certainly aren't easy (are they ever?) but there was something about the final scene that felt more like them acknowledging the fact that no one was really being fair or truthful and that it needed to be addressed. Of course, then Castiel left, so...
Communication, how does it work?
- Mom wanted to know why Jensen's wife wasn't on the show. I said because Gen's already been on it and it's funnier since she's "fake Ruby."
Anyway. I'm trying to think of other things to say and I'm just...not coming up with anything. I enjoyed it, even if it didn't always make sense. I laughed a lot. The episode flew by, as opposed to 6.14 which draaaaagged oooooon.
And with that, I think this is about as far as I got spoiled for. Except for an episode theme coming up. I'd like to keep it that way.

I had the same thought myself. Like where WERE the Jared and Jensen of that world?
Also, why were Sam and Dean such bad actors? I mean it's funny but considering what they do for a living, it's hard to believe they don't know how to act.
I don't like Balthazar. There's just something about him that irks me.

Trying to figure out Dean and Castiel is just so confusing. I mean you can tell they still care about each other but it's so painful to watch them be at odds and not together.
And while Dean could be more supportive and understanding, Castiel could be the same as well by telling Dean more about the Civil War. So far, he's given hints it's really bad but that's all! We, the viewers are just as much in the dark as Dean.
I am hoping for more revelations in future eps. because the lack of info. is annoying me greatly.

Date: 2011-03-04 11:55 pm (UTC)I think it boils down to the type of acting. As hunters, that's just part of what they do. But on set...there are a ton of people and a camera and lines to remember. It's just that much different.
And while Dean could be more supportive and understanding, Castiel could be the same as well by telling Dean more about the Civil War.
Oh yeah, definitely. I hope I didn't imply that it was all one sided. They're both failing spectacularly at being clear and supportive and, y'know, communicating anything of importance. For the amount of stuff they both apparently have going on, everyone's pretty much in the dark.

Date: 2011-03-02 08:44 am (UTC)MISHA. Playing Misha-playing-Cas subtly differently from the way he played just-Cas! Sweet acting, dude. AND TWEETING THE SHOW TWEETS IN REAL TIME. ♥_♥

omg I meant to mention that! He was brilliant, wasn't he? You really wouldn't confuse AR!Cas with Cas. Or Jimmy. Or Misha. Or future!Cas.

Date: 2011-03-02 01:36 pm (UTC)Oh gosh I don't know whats going on with Dean and Castiel its all so complicated! They obviously love and care about each other but they seem to be angry or uptight with each other all the time and its quite sad and hard to watch :(
But dam the eye sex at the end of 6x15 was gorgeous :P and Castiel always breaks his gaze first which I find interesting, its like he's hiding something or feels nervous under dean's stare x

Date: 2011-03-05 12:58 am (UTC)This is exactly why I'm saying they need to communicate more! Or better. Of course, Dean and Sam have never been very good at communication, either.
The eyesex was very good. There should be more of that. And, I don't know, it could be that Cas is hiding something. Or that he knows he should be telling them more. Or he feels guilty about not helping them out more. Hmmm.

Date: 2011-03-06 07:10 pm (UTC)Oh god the eye sex is something else! yer I don't know why Cas does that, I recon it does have something to do with guilt or hiding something.......and coz he is submissive to Dean obviously ;) x

Communication, how does it work?
This. Seriously. Cas, just sit down and talk to them for a minute, okay? While making fierce eye contact with Dean. It's not too much to ask for, is it?

Date: 2011-03-05 12:39 am (UTC)Oh yes! My mom and I lost it at the picture of cowboy Jared behind his desk. Every time the camera caught it, could not stop laughing.
They did all look like they were having a grand ol' time, didn't they? What a fun set.

Not too much to ask for at all, I think. This needs to happen, and soon. They need to sit and talk and really lay all of their cards out on the table. I'm afraid things won't work out so well if they don't.

Date: 2011-03-02 08:29 pm (UTC)But yeah I agree, if this is a big foreshadowing for what's going to happen to Cas, aka his DEATH, then I am not looking forward to season 7. I have become attached to him and they just need to stop killing off their secondary characters, they kept Bobby alive, why can't they do that for Cas?
As for the Cas/Dean thing, I agree and also the end really revealed a lot about how Dean felt. I mean, not only was he looking at him the way he did in Season 4 in that kind of soft, trusting kind of way, but I feel he's really hurt about how much Cas is NOT telling him about the War. I mean, we know what's happening but never has Cas asked them for their help so I think that's a big part about Dean's antagonism towards him, that Dean feels comfortable asking Cas for help but Cas doesn't (? because I'm not really sure)
I'm so glad you liked this episode!!!! It was awesome, I was so sad when they killed Misha off but then they killed everyone else so I was like "Meh, okay".
"I'm a painted whore!"
And that acting scene, killed me...like I couldn't stop laughing.
"There's a key....so there must be...a lock" Oh Sam!
Kay, so I'm going to stop gushing now. And I think they didn't add Jensen's wife because they live in Texas while Jared lives in Vancouver, apparently. Still don't understand the Alpaca...

Date: 2011-03-05 01:07 am (UTC)Ooh, I think that's a very interesting way to read it. I hadn't thought of that before...I could see that, though, Dean being upset that Cas isn't trusting them with what's going on. But Dean has also acted like he isn't interested, or like Cas' problems can't be as big as theirs. Which is dumb and unfortunate.
I LOVED Sam's "acting." Oh man. That was hilarious.

Date: 2011-03-10 01:09 am (UTC)I very much hope they don't plan on cutting his character, but given how popular he is it seems like that would be a pretty crazy move.
It does seem like a crazy move. And considering we've already had two moments where it looked like that was it for him? It would be sort of...I don't want to say anti-climactic or silly because I would be seriously upset, but, I mean, they keep doing it. They should do something else instead. Like not kill anyone.
There certainly hasn't been as much screen time for them, so there's less "UST if you squint" type moments. But that just means all the good stuff is happening in the background, and there's plenty of room for fic to fill in the details.
Exactly! And personally, I think they're more interesting because of all of the miscommunication and lack of communication. It makes fic hard to write, but there's so many different emotions to pull from, too.
I love the idea of it as an actual alternate reality--and the idea that there are many others out there! That's something I've always been interested in. And now there's so much more to play with!
