Supernatural - "Unforgiven"
Saturday morning I felt overall fairly "meh" about this episode. After further thought, I realized that wasn't entirely true. I felt "meh" about the last few seconds of it, but the rest of the episode I pretty much enjoyed. I liked the juxtaposition of robo!Sam and resouled!Sam. And the flashbacks, I liked the flashbacks much more than I thought I would. Especially the camera work and editing.
The CGI at the end, however? Just...didn't work for me. ::shrug::
Personally, I feel like less would have been more right now. Let me hear Sam collapse, let me see Dean's reaction, Dean going to him. Let me see Sam convulsing and then...credits. Because I would've known what that meant anyway, without the rest. It simply did not work for me like seeing Dean in Hell at the end of "No Rest for the Wicked" did.
I feel bad about that. I mean, I love Sam, I do. And it was hard to watch him deal with the things he did without a soul, but the ending felt anti-climactic to me. It wasn't a surprise or a shock, it just...was. I wanted to feel it so much more than I did.
Plus, Sam looked all right in the 6.14 promo. So. Less worried than I should be, I guess. SORRY, SAM.
