Watched tonight's episode with
olivelavonne, who has been here since Wednesday. It was good times.
I'm going to forget to say something here, I just know it.
Spoilers for the 6.07 promo included.
Supernatural - "You Can't Handle the Truth"
I enjoyed it. I was really worried going in that I would hate it and it would ruin everything and blah blah blah entitled fangirl is entitled.
Except it didn't, for me anyway.
- There needs to be more casual throwing around of angel powers. And more Dean making kind of startled bug-eyes at it. I think it's slightly different than season four, since there Dean seemed...generally unimpressed? But here...here he already knows Cas, Cas is a familiar figure. Dean himself said he used to be more human. So Cas - Castiel - throwing around his superpowered angel weight after Dean was so familiar with Cas...that's understandably going to throw Dean off.
I love it.
- Speaking of Dean and Cas, man, do those guys need a hug. From each other. Cas' promise to make inquiries, Dean's sad "I didn't really want you to go" face, the tension between them...c'mon guys. Hug it out.
- Cas needs to learn that just because you have no relevant information for your friends in need? Doesn't mean you should check in with your friends in need and at least tell them that.
- Sooooo. Dean's got some anger issues, yeah? Except we all wanted to punch him, too, honestly. Sorry, Sam. I kept flashing back toward the end of last season when Lucifer as Sam beat the crap out of Dean.
Once again we come down to these guys being completely unable to communicate anything ever. Jesus H. Christ, guys, would actually, literally kill you to have some honesty in your relationship?
Well.
Okay.
If Dean's going to react that way, it might eventually.
Though, really, I still say Dean has some major reasons to be rightfully fucking pissed about the way things have been going for him. And, yes, I know Sam hasn't had it easy either, I know that, but I feel like so much of SPN is told from a Dean-skewed POV that I can't help but feel more where he's coming from. Plus, lately we were supposed to be wondering about Sam ourselves.
(
olivelavonne and I discussed earlier today how this may be connected to the fact that I find writing Lucifer much easier than writing Sam.)
- Dean and Lisa. Yes. That was how I was hoping it would go. I mean, I don't want to see Dean unhappy, I really don't, but that was not going to work out with Dean's issues. And I really didn't want Lisa to just handwave the fact that Dean pushed Ben. I'm pleased they handled it the way they did.
It's sad that apparently no one is allowed to be happy, though.
- Hey, SPN, are you getting way more disgusting this season or what?
- Dean really should have cleared his browser history of all "Is Sam a Crazy Demon Thing?" research before heading out. I mean, c'mon, Sam could have come back and found that.
- Was anyone really surprised by anything that happened in this episode? By what was in the promo for 6.07?
olivelavonne has been saying they should have done that for forever.
Mom pointed out they've already been alluding to the importance of the soul this season.
