Sorry for being kind of spammy, but I have to say this just to get it out there.

Is anyone else watching The Pacific?

Part 8? The last ten minutes?

Holy. Shit.

All of it. Just...all of it. The combat scenes are always intense, but this? This really hit me hard.

And then, well.

::sobs::

I don't really know what to do with myself right now.

After seeing John and Lena so happy & in love and John's recruits learning how to be effective soldiers, only to see him fall was just heartbreaking. :'-(

It was heartbreaking. And shocking. There Basilone was, running this way and that, and I think that along with his recruits, I started to think of him as being untouchable. He's John Basilone.

I can't decide if I'm glad I didn't know it was coming, or if I'm annoyed at my father for not warning me beforehand what Basilone on Iwo Jima meant. A few minutes into the action on Iwo Jima and I was already feeling emotionally drained. The ending left me feeling gutted.
