I keep thinking about the end of "Changing Channels." Okay, well, not the end exactly, but the scene with Dean, Sam, and Gabriel. (And Castiel. I can't remember if he was there or not at this point.)

Keep in mind I've only seen the episode once.

What worried me about that scene was Sam's silence. I think I've figured out more fully why that was so.

Gabriel's pushing them to play their roles. Sam figured out first that in order to survive in the "game" that's what they had to do. Sam is feeling massive guilt (I'm guessing he's still feeling it anyway) about letting Lucifer out.

Is Sam going to go and do something stupid to put a stop to this?

But Sam's role is Lucifer's vessel, and how could that do any good? It would perhaps force Dean's hand with his own role as Michael's vessel. Except we've seen Zachariah try to use Sam-as-Lucifer to get Dean to agree and that didn't work. So...

I don't know. It's that silence that gets me. That silence when Dean's so adamantly against it. Like their roles have been reversed, Dean pushing against authority while Sam takes it.
Haven't we seen similar behavior in scenes with John, Dean, and Sam? Only there Dean was the one taking the orders while Sam pushed against them. (I hope I'm not mis-remembering that.)

I'm just worried about Sam. And Dean. And Castiel. And everybody else I enjoy on the show. Once you put "apocalypse" on the table, I think everyone is fair game.

Also, is it strange Michael hasn't shown up at all yet? Lucifer appeared to Sam. Are the saving Michael for Dean, completely? Have we met him and didn't know it?

Will Dean be the one to agree because Dean saves people and if this is the only way he can see to do it, he'll take it?

Interesting speculation. I also thought Sam was being a little too quiet. Though, on the Michael front, my thinking is: If Dean and Michael are so similar, for all we know Michael might be MIA because he doesn't want the Apocalypse either. He doesn't want to fight his own brother, and he doesn't want to be partially responsible for the damage the battle would do to the earth. I would like that. I don't want Michael to be just another angel dick.

Ooh, I hadn't thought of that re:Michael! I like that idea, a lot. Michael's already been there, done that with Lucifer. Like you say, if Dean and Michael are so similar, maybe he's tired of taking orders from an absent father, too. He's reached the end of his rope and doesn't want to be just an instrument in the grander scheme.

Heh. I have visions of Michael living as a hermit in a cabin by a lake now. He just wants to be left alone!

I don't want Michael to be just another angel dick.

Agreed.
