There is very little of substance beneath the cut.

Except for the part where I almost wrote post-episode fic. Sort of, in future tense. I may have to do something with it, actually.

Supernatural - "Changing Channels"

HOOOOOOLY SHIT.

I probably shouldn't admit this, but tonight's episode actually made me hysterical. Today sucked and I've been stressed this whole week. And then Supernatural comes on and the opening credits made me laugh so hard I got teary eyed and then the COMMERCIAL in which SAM HAD GENITAL HERPES made me laugh so hard I actually cried.

And then I couldn't stop crying through the commercial break. Once the dam was open, it was open apparently. I was better after that. I'm still feeling emotionally precarious at the moment.

So on the one hand, uh, kind of embarrassing. But on the other hand, thank you PTB, I totally needed that.

But then of course they went and made it all serious and interesting beyond just being entertaining. Nice blend of making me giddy and making me fear for everyone on the show ever, basically.

(After what happened with Torchwood, I am terrified about what other shows I love will do to characters I love.)

- The Trickster is GABRIEL. Well. That totally explains why he was so interested in Sam (and Dean) in "Mystery Spot." Why he was so intent on Sam learning his lesson about Dean being his weakness, etc.

- I loved his brief interaction with Castiel.

Did that look that passed between the two of them as Castiel left the building mean anything more than unhappy recognition of the situation and their places within it?

- Oh, here's a thought: Gabriel is an angel, but he does his own thing and apparently isn't fallen. How does that work? Is it because he's an archangel? Did he say something about "witness protection" or am I making that up?

- Dean called an archangel a douchnozzle. I love Dean.

- Poor Castiel. Worried, bleeding, thrown around, duct-taped. And Dean was all worried and hoping he was okay and threatening Gabriel to bring him back. And then actually asking Castiel if he was okay. It makes me ridiculous.

(I could easily see Dean coming out of that bathroom being all, "I hope Cas is all right. Uh, speaking of Cas, Sam, there's something I probably should've told you...")

- Speaking of Cas myself...he looked good. Little weird seeing him, all of them really, in a bright sitcom palette though. They all looked good. Sam's face is killing me.

- I'm impressed Dean knew Facebook.

- Loved all the parodies. And how into Dr. Sexy, MD and Dr. Sexy Dean was. His face when Dr. Sexy approached him. Heeee.

And the music they kept playing!

They must watch a lot of questionable television while in those motel rooms. (I still love that Dean made a Suite Life of Zach & Cody joke last season.)

- Mom pointed out that two of the parodies were shows that air at the same time on opposing networks, Grey's Anatomy and CSI.

The CSI stuff killed me, too. The sunglasses and the lines and their impressions. Oh, guys.

- Smeat. HA.

- I'm happy Dean told Gabriel no and to suck it up and stand up to his family. I'm a little concerned Sam didn't say anything. Where are we headed here? And why do the angels need them to sort it out anyway? Why does this have to take place on an earthly level/plane?

- I'm going to pretend they invited Castiel into the car with them at the end instead of leaving him standing at the trunk. Dean totally got halfway behind the steering wheel before popping back out with a pointed look and, "You coming?"

Cas will shuffle forward and open the back door, climb in. They'll drive off and it'll be tense until Sam teases Dean about Dr. Sexy. Dean will tell him to shut up and Castiel will blink at both of them from the backseat and ask, "Who is Dr. Sexy?"

Sam will grin evilly and say, "Yeah, Dean. Tell us about the good doctor," and things will be okay for a little while longer.

I didn't get your text until like 2am this morning. I had my phone on silent and somehow lost it in my bed until I flung my hand in the middle of the night and hit it. I'm not entirely sure why my phone was even on my bed.

Anyway, I pretty much loved this episode! It was like . . . OMG! Couldn't stop laughing. Also, dude, Dean had like the best reaction to Dr. Sexy! And the CSI jokes! And poor Cas.

Yeah. Also, I agree with your interpretation of the ending. They totally took Cas with them. I'm going to pretend that the look Cas gave Gabriel was more of a sad, your-my-brother-but-I-don't-like-you-or-what-you-did-to-my-boyfriend look.

The whole angel thing makes me wonder how close they all are/were. How many are there? Did they all love each other at one point or only their Father? Do they actually know love or just blind obediance? What are they to each other?
