Where the Wild Things Are
Oct. 25th, 2009 08:29 pmLoved it. A lot. Layered and interesting, both visually and emotionally. And a little bit heartbreaking in that way childhood can be. I think that what got me the most about this movie, or at least one of the things, was the way it really took me back to those frustrations that are so present when you're young. And that sometimes persist. Like the inability to articulate your emotions, particularly anger and fear and loneliness, and the frustration that results when you feel like no one around you understands.
I cried. This was not unexpected. Every time a preview ran on TV I'd turn to Mom and say, "I'm going to bawl during this movie, you know that right?"
I was impressed. Definitely a movie that needs seeing again.
