Mom and I are 11 episodes into Supernatural season one.
First off, when we started watching, Mom re-read an Entertainment Weekly article about the show and its current season. She stopped me one evening and said, "So, there are Sam girls and Dean girls, huh? I don't know which I am."
"Why choose? I'll take both, thanks," was my answer. Because, really, I definitely appreciate them both.
Although I am definitely leaning toward Dean. Because...his face. His issues. Oh, Dean.
Particularly one of the episodes we watched tonight, "Home." After "Bugs" last night, oh, it was like breath of fresh air. Not that "Bugs" was completely horrible; it had it's moments. Like the whole "we accept people of any nationality blah-di-blah and sexual orientation" ::wink:: and Dean and his love of the steam shower. Also poking things and using sticks to poke things. But it totally fell apart in the third act. What the hell was that with the sunrise coming, like, thirty minutes tops after midnight and only taking half a second? Pfft.
Anyway. "Home." Loved it. So very much. The boys...well, I was going to say they just killed me when they were at the gas station, but really, they started before that. And then Dean excused himself and snuck off to call their dad again and we get this moment where we really do see more explicitely that Dean's got insecurities and issues.
I also really liked Missouri. And how she wouldn't let up on Dean. Sam looked like it was the best thing that had ever happened. Seriously, their faces. I love them.
You know what else I love? I love that Sam and Dean almost talk about their feelings sometimes. Occasionally they even go a little past "almost." Way to go, boys.
Mom had trouble letting go of the crazy "apple" trees in "Scarecrow." I finally paused it and we agreed to pretend they'd been distorted by evil. IMDb says they're hazelnut trees. Interesting.
Dean's "Dude, you fugly" cracked me up for way longer than it probably should have.
I'm going to stop now before I use the word "love" again. Or more italics. But I'm really enjoying the show. Like, a lot. And I love that Mom's watching it with me. Things are so much better when she's watching what I am so that I can flail at her and we can discuss things.
Also, the title should really be Supernatural: Yeah, We Went There because holy crap. Some things I don't need to actually see happen on my TV screen.
