Merlin Fic: A Glint of Silver (NC-17)

Merlin's distracted by shiny objects. Especially if Arthur's wearing them.

ginnith for doing your thing with your (virtual) highlighter and red pen. shetiger's jewelry picspam here was helpful. And possibly planted the seed of the idea back before I'd seen any Merlin.
A glint of silver catches Merlin’s eye from across the room. It really shouldn’t, small and insignificant as it is, surrounded by so many finer, flashier things. But it does, and Merlin’s eyes are drawn to the bands of silver that move on Arthur’s wrist, peeking out of his cuff, momentarily shining bright when they catch the light just so as Arthur moves.
Then Merlin’s not in the banquet hall at all; his mind is back in Arthur’s rooms, where Arthur was just Arthur and his hands fit so perfectly on Merlin’s body that Merlin was sure this was what it meant to be one half of a whole. Where Arthur’s gaze alternated between affectionate and wicked, desperate and teasing, and the only similarities were that they were all Arthur and they were all meant for Merlin. Only Merlin. And Arthur gave them readily, feeling and intent breaking the surface without fear of judgment.
Before the feast, Merlin had helped Arthur change, helped him strip (though he hardly needed it) and redress. But in between…
Between the two, Arthur had stilled Merlin’s hands with his own, pressed kisses to his throat, and pushed him back until Merlin’s knees collided with the bed, followed him down onto it until Merlin could feel the heat of Arthur’s bare chest and thighs through the fabric of his own clothes. Arthur pulled at Merlin’s tunic, tugged at his trousers. Merlin wasn’t paying much attention, occupied as he was with Arthur’s mouth on his own.
His tunic was pushed up his chest and his trousers opened and Arthur’s hand was wrapped around his cock , Arthur murmuring things like “shh” and “let me” and “Merlin” against his mouth.
And Merlin gasped and quaked and let him. Merlin shuddered and moaned and reached for him as Arthur stroked and touched, bringing Merlin ever closer to the edge until he was right upon it and Arthur drew his mouth away and slowed his hand.
“Arthur,” Merlin groaned, wanting Arthur’s mouth back on his, needing Arthur to finish what he’d started.
But Arthur ignored him and when Merlin opened his eyes to see, he found Arthur’s gaze fixed on his hand around Merlin.
Merlin’s gaze followed and the sight—Arthur’s strong, capable fingers wrapped around his cock, bracelets slipping and sliding along Arthur’s wrist with each steady stroke, catching the light in the room and winking at them—was enough to make him come.
When it was over, Arthur lifted his hand to his lips, pink tongue sneaking out to lick and taste.
“You’re going to be late,” Merlin said, willing his heart to slow down.
Arthur just rolled his eyes. “I’m the prince,” he said. “They can’t start without me.” And then he’d rolled over onto Merlin, pushed him deeper into the bed and really, who cared if they were just a little late?
Now it looks like they may be leaving a little early. Arthur catches Merlin watching from across the hall and raises one questioning eyebrow. He lifts his goblet for a taste of wine and the bracelets slide into view, shining in the light, drawing their eyes.
Merlin feels flushed and hot all over and when he looks at Arthur again, his goblet is paused before his lips, his eyes on the bands of silver. Then Arthur’s eyes meet Merlin’s and he smirks over the rim before taking a deep drink, draining it, and sets the goblet down on the table in front of him decisively. He is distinctly pink around the edges. If asked, Arthur will attribute it to the wine, but Merlin knows better.
Merlin makes his way toward Arthur, on the pretense of refilling the goblet, but he knows they definitely will not be at the feast much longer.
