Dear Fanfiction Writers,

"is stood" is not correct. Not even a little bit. Don't use it.

It doesn't even sound remotely correct.

I will generally give you the benefit of the doubt (typos happen), but not when the mistake in question happens more than once.

PS. I think I saw this issue on my flist a couple of days ago. People are noticing. Fix this trend of bad grammar!

I will write you an example sentence:

Tony is stood in Tim's kitchen, rummaging through his freezer.

Your comment about context got me wondering whether or not there would be someway for "is stood" to be correct. But no. Even if it's an inanimate object, it's, "They stood it up" or "It is standing." Or just plain, "The idol stood on the altar."

Could you say, "The idol is stood on the altar"? As in, someone is actively standing it there right now? Hmm.

You could say, "Tony is stood up by his date," but that's different.
