Dr. Horrible, Act III
Jul. 19th, 2008 02:15 pmJoss Whedon, you are a genius and I kind of hate your guts you bastard.
He just had to kill Penny. I mean, I don't know how I thought things would go down, but I wasn't really expecting to have my heart yanked out and stomped on. Even though this is Joss we're talking about and really, isn't that what he does best? Gives us characters that we love and then takes them away from us.
She even died thinking Captain Hammer would save them. Ugh.
Oh, Billy. The ending broke my heart to pieces. I was upset and a little teary until that last shot of Billy blogging instead of Dr. Horrible and then it was full on sobbing.
I do love the progression, though. And the complicated, hurty mess of what/who Dr. Horrible's become. The idea that he puts on this persona like armor because it's what he wanted and he finally got it, but it's not what he thought it would be and ultimately he's stuck with it.
NPH was just utterly fantastic. I mean, everyone was fabulous, but he really shined for me in this.
What I'm most impressed with is what Joss can do in so little time. Put it all together, we've only known these characters for roughly the length of an hour long television episode. And yet I laughed and cried and will miss them liked I'd gotten used to them being around.
On a sillier note, I was really hoping Bad Horse was an actual horse, and he was!
