I'm trying something different in the layout department. The stylesheet's by
refuted. I really like it, but I'm concerned that some of the text may be too light to read. Particularly in the comment box. If anyone wants to give me their two cents, I'd appreciate it.
Meanwhile, last night was the first season five episode of Project Runway. I think Tim was probably right when he said this was their most diverse bunch of designers yet; not the best, just the most diverse. I get a little annoyed when the hosts say the new group is the best. How does that make the previous contestants feel, especially the winners?
This should be interesting, though.
So, the designs I liked: Kenley, Emily, Jennifer, Wesley, Korto, Daniel, Kelli
Borderline: Terri, Leanne, Jerell, Joe
Meh: Suede, Keith, Stella
WTH?: Blayne, Jerry
- omg, Tim's face when he opened the champagne and the cork went over the side of the building! Hee! Whoops!
- I like the name Kenley.
- Emily looks a little like a brunette Heather Graham to me.
- People who refer to themselves in the third-person, Suede, are weird.
- Blayne needs to wash his hair.
- Jerry's design looked like something the female version of Dexter would wear. Except I kept thinking that a skirt with boots like that really isn't practical when being a serial killer since things could end up in your boots, sort of defeating the purpose.
- I mostly liked Joe's design; the top was kind of cute and it was neat that he used the pasta on the skirt. But it still left me kind of meh. Maybe because it reminds me a little of Home Ec.
- Keith reminds me of someone. Not sure who. Someone I worked with? Had a class with? Hmm.
- Stella was disappointing. She could have, like the judges said, changed things up with the garbage bags by ripping and tearing them and then sewing them together.
- Wesley reminds me a little, appearance-wise, of Greg from CSI. It's the coloring and overall face-shape. Just from his mannerisms in tonight's episode, I'm kind of interested to see more. He presents a little meek, so I want to see how prolonged interaction goes.
- Looking forward to seeing more of Korto's work. Along with Daniel, Jerell, and Terri.
I was happy when Tim said the judges would call them all slackers. I'm think I've read somewhere that this was one of Heidi's favorite challenges ever on the show. And hardly anyone really stepped out of the box and used crazy things.
My favorite quote of the evening had to be when Heidi told Jerry his design "was memorable, but not really in a good way."
Looking forward to this season!
Last night I worked on some fic that's been sitting around for a couple of weeks. Re-wrote the whole thing and surpassed my self-imposed word limit which made me really happy. Unfortunately I'm now kind of hesitant to send it to anyone because I don't want this shiny, happy feeling to wear off.

Date: 2008-07-19 05:29 am (UTC)I remember hearing Blayne say something about Seattle. Is it bad that as soon as I read Yakima I went, "Ooh, that could explain some things"?
Love your Tim Gunn icon!
