I had a nice impromptu visit with Neesh on Wednesday. We met up for a late lunch and on a whim we went to Moses and saw Freaky Friday. It was really cute. And funny. Afterward I followed her to Katie's house and we all watched the first 12 minutes of The Ring. I say watched, but what I really mean is that Neesh and I watched while Katie bravely covered her eyes and listened. I'd already seen it, so I was testing my bravery. I would have had to drive home in the very dark by myself. Not fun. But I figured that I'm moving off to college in a month so I better get over a few things. But before it even started I began having second thoughts. So we watched the first 12 minutes and then Katie's parents got home so we stopped. Yea! Instead we stayed there until 11 and sat around talking with her family. It was fun. Go talking!

Yesterday I finished reading The Da Vinci Code. Really enjoyed it. One or two of the twists near the end of the book almost felt anti-climactic to me. I'm not really sure why. The last two twists worked really well though. I wonder how much of the "facts" were actual fact? Hmm. There was some very interesting stuff there. Has certainly caught my interest. I am now reading The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. It has got to have the most interesting beginning to a book I have ever read. It's very good so far, but also upsetting to read. It is about a fourteen year old girl who has been murdered and her exploration of her heaven as well as her views of what is happening in life.

My name was Salmon, like the fish; first name, Susie. I was fourteen when I was murdered on December 6, 1973.

I haven't really written anything substantial for awhile, but why is it that inspiration seems to come in the middle of the night?? Are things just more interesting than? Is there just more of a "what if" about the world when it is dark than when it is light? Or does my brain just like to keep me up at all hours of the night?

Insperation

I think insperation comes in the middle of night because there is less going on around you, leaving you in a more peacefull and relaxed environment in which it is easier to contemplate things.

"Is there just more of a "what if" about the world when it is dark than when it is light?" I like this idea though. Its deffinately a question to consider.

"The Lovely Bones" sounds interesting. I've never heard of it before your mentioning it.

The new Entertainment Weekly has a big article about upcoming fall movies and it includes a large segment on "... Commader...." Sorry, I don't know what it is about this title that I just can't grasp. It just won't stick with me. Maybe "Master and Commander" is that it? Oh, its okay, I'll check the recent post.

But yeah, you should check it out.

You know, you're absolutely right. Inspiration comes at night because you can relax and just think about things. I do think though that it is easier to imagine things differently when it is dark. The edge between what is real and what is not blurs. You never hear about kids being afraid of the light.

Master and Commander. It may become a series. Thanks for the heads up with the Entertainment Weekly. I'll have to go find it now.
