One of the things I love about Heroes is that it's very much like reading a book. The set-up certainly lends itself to that or is based on that or something. My point is that unlike some other shows that I watch (and adore), Heroes feels so much more rounded and deep. And I don't mean like "That's deep man," just that it has depth and layers. So the season finale leaves me with a feeling similar to finishing a good book or a series. I don't need more at the moment because what I've had has been so good.

Which is not to say that I'm not eagerly anticipating next season (which, hey, maybe I'll be able to watch as it airs instead of taping it), just that I'm okay with the wait.

I loved the finale. It was a good, solid finish to the season. Plus, circularity. OMG, I love it when things circle back and mirror. Although I will say that the stabbing of Sylar felt a little anti-climactic. It wasn't bad, just...I was expecting more? Which doesn't make a lot of sense since we've seen all of the signs that Hiro would stab him and it really wouldn't be a huge production. Besides which, the big deal really was the exploding man.

I cried. I was near tears through, oh, half of the episode. I was just worried about people, y'know? Like Ando. I was waiting through most of the season for him to die. And I like him, so I'm glad he didn't. (For his sake and for Hiro's.) And then I was basically worried every time someone turned a corner because, hey, there could be danger there.

But Nathan showing up at the end really got me. It got me like the end of "Company Man" got me. These realizations of goodness and love and the willingness to sacrifice, everything clicking into place. Oh, Nathan. That was an amazing scene.

Loved everyone at the end. Like Nikki beating on Sylar. Nice. Did not appreciate Matt getting shot. Not cool.

Loved the creepy hinting at a new villain. Chills.

But, um, seriously, did no one notice Sylar's body went missing?

I keep meaning to say something about the last two SG-1 eps, but I keep forgetting. Or am too pre-occupied with other things. Not that I have anything really to say.

SG-1 - "Bounty"

I wasn't really expecting anything out of this episode. Mom and I discussed it before seeing it and we were both slightly put-off by the fact that the previous episode had ended up with some serious Ori problems and suddenly we were getting an episode about Cameron's high school reunion. What is up with that?

We were both pleasantly surprised. I actually quite enjoyed it. I think a lot of that has to do with the dynamic between Ben Browder and Claudia Black. And Vala's interactions with Cameron's family/friends. I especially loved the part where Vala admitted she was married and he was a religious zealot bent on dominating the galaxy. And the guy's reaction of, "Oh, so you're separated?"

Also enjoyed Carter and Lee. But I thought the woman tracking Daniel getting hit by a bus was a little lame, though I did laugh.

In the end, I think I tend to like stories where people out of the know start to see what's really going on around them, start to see that maybe the people they thought they knew are actually big damn heroes.

SG-1 - Bad Guys

I'd heard before that BB had a hand in writing this episode. You could definitely tell. Hilarious! While I was watching, I kept wondering if he had some hand in sticking Cam and Vala together through most of it.

Loved Daniel and Teal'c though. And Teal'c getting the Die Hard reference. And Daniel's general WTF? responses to everyone. Plus, Joshua Malina. He's great. Daniel's kindred spirit.

Although I don't like the fact that things on his end just got dropped and things on SG-1's end are going to be dropped and he's left somewhere in the middle. And since this is the final season, that's it there.

Even if the last two eps don't really fit into the overall season arc, it is nice to have a break from the doom and gloom of the Ori.

Over the weekend, Kay and I watched Little Children. Excellent. I recommend it. The inclusion of Madame Bovary was interesting for me, as well as the parallels to the novel.
