Happy New Year!
Jan. 1st, 2007 06:23 pmSafely back at SU. Woo.
Coming over Snoqualmie Friday was super easy. Got to Seattle mid-afternoon, so we went and saw Casino Royale. It was, to quote the oh so eloquent 10 year old boy in my life, "flippin' sweet." I mean, seriously. I love me some spy movies and I'd almost go so far as to say that, given hardly any time at all, Daniel Craig could be my favorite Bond. Sorry, Mr. Connery. EB is still partial to Pierce Brosnan. Which is fine, but that first chase scene? In the building scaffolding and then in the embassy? I was pretty much already sold on Craig as Bond, since I'd seen him in other things and enjoyed him, but if I'd had any doubts about various things, that sequence would have changed them. I believed him as Bond in those scenes more than I could ever have believed Brosnan. I can see him doing car chases and cleaner things, but when it gets dirtier and more athletic I have a harder time believing Pierce Brosnan.
I also loved that every opportunity there was for a big car chase was passed by because he chased them on foot. That just tickled me.
Saturday we had our Christmas/New Year thing with uncle, aunt, and EB. It was nice, though I really do get tired of all of medical talk. It's not so bad when it's just EB, because she's been doing the "I'm going to be a pharmacist" thing for the last seven years, but the aunt has, like, a big book o' diseases and medicine and that's it. And she used to be a nutritionist. I just don't like that she acts like she knows everything, listening to my dad talk about various things his doctors have told him and hmm-ing over them like she knows all.
Other than that, though, it was a nice evening. We ended up watching all of 1940 House, which was really interesting, though it made me realize that everything I knew about rationing in England I'd learned on Doctor Who/Torchwood.
Speaking of, I'm trying really hard to stay away from Torchwood spoilers. Self-control!
Anyway. Did absolutely nothing for New Year's. Sat up by myself and watched the count down and then went back to watching the SVU marathon on USA because I can never sleep. Thank goodness for Law & Order.
And now it's a new year and I'm feeling pretty good about it and the coming quarter. I've pinpointed some problem things in my life that I am making the choice to get rid of and I feel really good about those decisions. And I'm incredibly grateful to all of my friends who have been around this year to listen and support and push and laugh and generally just be there. So, love to all of you.
Now, time for dinner!
