Before I do the SciFi Friday thing, I have to share what I found on MuggleNet. A clip of Daniel Radcliffe
on Extras
. I'm traumatized. And amused. Will I be able to watch Harry Potter and not think of flying condoms? Probably not.

SG-1 - "Memento Mori"

Because of what was going to happen on SGA this week, I wasn't sure if I'd be able to sit through SG-1 without going crazy with anticipation. Good thing I ended up really enjoying the episode.

The overall thought of the evening here? Everyone (well, almost) on the show is ridiculously attractive. I love it when they're out of uniform (MOM: What do you mean "out of uniform"?) and doing crazy things in civvies. Maybe because we hardly ever get to see them in anything but blue or green or black.

- Date! "It's not a date." You know why it's not a date? 'Cause Daniel's gay. Or in denial. Or both possibly. What I want to know is why they were both wearing jeans in a fancy-shmancy restaurant. Granted, jeans can be pretty dressy these days, but still. They could've stuck Vala in a dress or something. And, boy, does she have pretty hair or what?

- The guy giving the orders to torture Vala (Weaver?) was in a Mary Kate and Ashley movie. I find this hilarious for some reason.

- Liked Sal. He seemed like a good guy. And Val watching reruns of The X-Files. She sure is getting a lot of exposure to television. Loved how honest she was with Sal about how she couldn't promise him anything. Liked that he did his best to help her even if her story was a little wonky. You've got to appreciate that after the detective didn't believe her when she told the absolute truth. How frustrating.

- TEAL'C. I don't know what Teal'c said to Weaver, but when Daniel left them alone and Teal'c slowly moved in really close and intimidating-like, well. Hmm. I don't know how to describe my reaction. But it was good. I love it when Teal'c gets to do stuff.

The scene also reminded me of Ronon being given permission to torture Kavanagh in "Critical Mass." You could really see the differences in the characters involved in both situations. (And I'm not entirely sure Teal'c would really do the torture thing in this situation. But I think he and Daniel are very good at bluffing.)

- Mitchell on a bike. Except I kept thinking, "Is that really Ben Browder there?" Kind of different to see a car chase on SG-1.

- Mitchell sure made a lot of noise at a flesh-wound. I thought that was kind of silly. I mean, he's a lieutenant colonel and he spent however long in the hospital and then doing through physical therapy and having other crap done to him and he's going to complain about a bullet that nicked his arm? Baby.

- Mitchell waking up handcuffed in nothing but his underpants and dog tags. HA. And then Vala coming back with snacks and he's covered himself under the blankets and she's stuffing food in his face to shut him up. And THEN the rest of SG-1 finding him alone, handcuffed, television on, junk food at his side, and frosting in the corner of his mouth. "It's not what it looks like." Pulling the blanket higher to preserve some (any) dignity.

- I think Sam was checking him out while he got dressed. And then covered it with humor.

CARTER: I just think it's funny that you're always losing your pants.
MITCHELL: Not always. It's happened twice. Twice is not always.

I love them. Carter bringing up the pants thing later at the SGC. Seriously, she likes Mitchell without his pants.

- Mitchell shooting the zat down the length of metal and getting the bad guy that way. That was kind of cool.

- Daniel and Vala's confrontation at the warehouse. Aw. They're very sweet sometimes.

- Vala's officially part of SG-1. Yea!

- The last mention of the "date" and poor Daniel denying it and no one believing him. (I believe you, Daniel!) Loved Landry's reaction to the whole thing. Just the way he was standing there, arms at his side, staring at Daniel. Heh.

Anyway. There were a lot of little things in this episode that I liked. Stuff about the Trust still confuses me though. I should probably go back and watch episodes pertaining to them. I should definitely go back and re-watch season eight as I never did pay a lot of attention to those when I got the DVDs.

SGA - "McKay and Mrs. Miller"

So I was super excited for this episode but also really scared for it, too. Before the preview after "Common Ground" all that was known about it (at least around here) was that Rodney's sister was involved. Exciting! And it was confirmed that DH's sister was going to play his sister and that's just kind of cool. But then the preview comes out and not only are we introduced to Jeannie, we also get Rod for a parallel universe. Really exciting! But also potentially disastrous.

Maybe disastrous is too harsh. Let's say potentially cringe worthy instead. There were a couple moments that made me cringe a little, but for the most part it was all good and squee-worthy. There was definitely flailing. Although I will say that I enjoyed the first half of the ep a little more than the second. I'd love to be able to have an episode where nothing happens and we get to just see the characters do stuff. Like here? I would have been perfectly fine if Rod had never shown up because I wanted to see more of Jeannie and Rodney and the rest of Atlantis interacting. Did love the progression we got to see between the siblings though. Every time she mentioned that he hadn't contacted her in four years I was left going, "What about the recording? What happened to that?" And Rodney just...not bringing it up because of course she would believe he wouldn't contact her. So when the final bit started with that I was so very very happy. And then it turned out Sheppard, for whatever reason, has a copy of it and brought it to her, well that made it better.

And then the hug. Oh the hug. I was sitting there just hoping that someone would reach out because Rodney so obviously (to me anyway) wanted to. Yeah, that part was good.

- Jeannie and Madison. And the finger-paints. And she's married to an English major. And he's supportive and understanding and pushing her to go do whatever she has to. And the not lying to him about where she's going. "He's afraid he'll be assassinated fot it. He won't, will he?" "I don't think so."

- Interesting hints of family life with the mention of their father and how he would be proud of them working together and sharing credit.

- Jeannie solved his problem in her spare time with finger-paints! Ha. It really is wonderful that they got his sister to play Jeannie. You can definitely tell that they're related.

- MEREDITH. OMG. Rodney's parents were cruel. But Jeannie calling him "Mer"? Adorable. It makes me grin. (It does not help that, though spelled differently, that's my nickname. HEE!) So we did get a name-thing here, but no Rodney's calling Sheppard "John." Although we did get Rod saying "his Sheppard" which kind of made me grin.

Speaking of that scene, how unfair was it that they cut away before we got to see Rod get all up-close and personal with John to help him with his golf swing? TEASE. At this point I found myself feeling conflicted and silly because on the one hand I was going "But it's not Rodney and I don't want it if it's not Rodney," but on the other hand it was a version of Rodney and that's almost as good and it's the same visual so why not? Also, I bet JF and DH had fun golfing and doing a scene together that was a lot less serious than usual.

- Interesting looks into Rod's universe. If his Sheppard's so involved with Mensa, does that mean that Sheppard's not as military as this one? Is he just a scientist? Is he both like Carter? I kind of want to know.

- Also, randomly, I kept expecting Rod to do that clicky-mouth-finger combo and say, "Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast."

- John introducing himself to Jeannie and Rodney's reaction to it.

SHEPPARD: I'm John Sheppard.
McKAY: She's married and she's my sister.
SHEPPARD: I was just saying hello.
McKAY: I know exactly what you were doing. Kirk.

Or however it went. Reminded me of Doctor Who and whichever one it was where Captain Jack introduced himself to someone and the Doctor was all "Stop flirting" and Jack was all "I was just saying hi" and the Doctor was all "For you that's flirting."

(Sentences and paragraphs like that don't show that I can actually write. I'm just lazy.)

- John being completely confused by "Mer" (to the point of lagging behind) and Rodney just breezing right by it with "pet name."

- The conversation between Rodney, Rod, and Jeannie in the isolation room and how very different the body language of the McKays was. Rod was very Sheppard-esque.

- The scenes in the mess. Some of them bordered on making me uncomfortable. Just because Rodney's always the butt of the joke. Or he is most of the time. And though maybe he doesn't care, sometimes it would be nice if maybe the rest of Atlantis felt a little bad about it. Nice to see everyone having a good time though. (JF's laugh is...funny.)

- The final scene in the mess? Made me very happy. Even if I suspect that to a certain extent they were just telling Rodney that they didn't like Rod to make him feel better. (Sheppard had a look at one point that made me think this.) At the very least they realized that Rodney wasn't really himself and needed them to be there. Loved Teyla kicking John when he teased her about thinking a guy was attractive. Hehe.

- Oh! The scene in John's room! Rodney and John in John's quarters! Finally. And John just listening and pushing Rodney when he needed pushing and polishing his phallic object golf clubs. That made me happy.

- The good bye between Rod and Rodney was nice. Rodney's confusion that people dislike him was interesting because he knows he's "petty, arrogant, and bad with people."

- Rodney just in general. All around. The look on his face when John first mentioned his sister, asking about her as soon as he was through the 'gate and hardly paying any attention to Carter, showing up awkwardly at her door (the niece around the knees! ha!), taking all the credit, trying to share the blame, realizing that he's afraid Jeannie doesn't like him at all, trying to fix that, trying to connect. It was a wonderful emotional Rodney episode. And a very different Rodney from the one we usually see. More quiet and introspective, like the McKay on the recording. So, yes, when it comes down to it I spent a lot of the time watching the episode and going, "Oh, Rodney." He was just so very real.

- One question that bothered me the entire episode. How come no one brought up the fact that when people show up from alternate universes and are doubled one of them (the one that shouldn't be there) gets sick? That's established on SG-1. I thought for sure someone would mention it instead everyone just going along with having two Rodneys. Hmm.

I loved this episode. At first there were a couple of things that left me going "hmm," but the more I think about it the more layers I see in it. Talked to Mom about some of it, too. Like the mess scenes that almost made me cringe. Because the team obviously asked Jeannie about Rodney and that means that they care enough to want to know.

EB comes tomorrow! YEA.

OMG I just realized that on this recording of Annie Get Your Gun Frank Butlet is played by Tom Wopat, aka Luke Duke from The Dukes of Hazzard. Um. Whoa.

Yay EB!! Are you doing anything fun and exciting? I would tell you to send EB to my house today, but it's my family reunion and I wouldn't want to scare her.

I hope you're having a fantabulous weekend!

You're right. That Daniel Radcliffe clip was brilliant, but traumatizing.

It was nice to see him not being emo, though.

He seems like quite the funny kid when not being forced to act out the CAPSLOCK OF DOOM from HP.
