I think [livejournal.com profile] ginnith and [livejournal.com profile] olivelavonne will understand how I feel about the news I found on Neptunesite for next season.

The general spoiler page is here. Now, mostly I don't want to be spoiled for the plot(s) of next season, but this was a casting thing and, well, that's not quite the same thing.

Series creator Rob Thomas is said to be looking to add Michael Muhney (Sheriff Lamb) and Tina Majorino (Mac) as series regulars next season. Kyle Gallner (Beaver), Teddy Dunn (Duncan), and Tessa Thompson (Jackie) will be gone.

BYE DUNCAN. Blandy McBlanderson.

I don't mind if he comes back every now and then, but regularly would be a little more than I would like. I mean, what would they do with him?

For some reason, I keep thinking of how Riley left on Buffy and then randomly showed up again a season or so later. Married. That could happen to Duncan. Or something. I'd be fine with that.

As you know, I'm not a spoiler person and generally run from them, but I was really excited when I heard rumors that Michael Muhney and Tina Majorino would be regulars. I mean, Rob Thomas worked a lot of their character traits into the last season, I'd have been really disappointed to lose them. And really, just because Ronnie's in college, it doesn't mean that she can't have trouble with the law. What would the show be without interferance with the law? And I'd totally be fine with Leo showing up at some point. Re-watching stuff with him in it, I really like him. Mumble McMumbleson though he may be.

The best part about the Duncan plot is that he's in Australia and Veronica's in Neptune. I get Kevin vibes from him half the time and that's just weird. He doesn't belong in my plotline.

All I have to say is YAY! Mac will be a regular! I heart Mac! They really did her wrong in the season finale. And Yay for Sheriff Lamb. He's really grown on me. I'm glad that Beaver is gone and Duncan. Even though I liked him more than you. I do agree with you however, he and Veronica are bad together and his character is best left to a guest appearance every once in a while.

I'm so glad Mac and Lamb get to be regulars. Mac has always been wonderful, but Lamb really started to show some depth last season. I'm not suprised Beaver is gone, him being dead and all. I'm wondering if Jackie's going to show up at all? I can't remember for sure, but did she and Wallace completely split after she told him the truth?

It's not that I hate Duncan, it's just that I find him uninteresting. I think the episode where I found him most interesting was where he admitted to Veronica that he had slept with her at the party and hadn't stayed with her because he thought she was his sister. So what does that say about his character that that needs to happen for me to find him interesting? What does that say about me? I mean, okay, he was funny and a goof, but I guess it's kind of like my Buffy/Angel thing. I liked both characters apart, but disliked them together.

Even so, just because they aren't in the credits doesn't mean they're not on the show. Lamb could remain a guest star forever and ever (which would suck, admittedly).

Plus, Lamb can always interact with Keith. I would love more Keith plots. I ♥ him. (You seriously have no idea how much I love Keith.) And Veronica may be in college, but it's never been seriously suggested that this is the end of her crime solving days. Keith may say it is, but Veronica just rolls her eyes and says, "Right, Dad."

Leo still leaves me cold. Jailbait! He's an officer and he's dating jailbait! Not a good role model. And the non-enunciation.

I wouldn't mind Duncan coming back occasionally, just as long as he and Veronica don't hook up.

I get Kevin vibes from him half the time and that's just weird. He doesn't belong in my plotline.

Explain? Kevin?

Re-watching the show, I've noticed how much I miss the Keith plots. I mean, he got some in season 2, but not nearly as many of the fun ones in season 1. He's such an awesome dad.

I think my thing with Leo is that I think he'd actually make a pretty good cop and I'd like to see him involved in a case here and there. I like familiar people, and he's one that I liked.

I think Duncan looks like Kevin Frei. I think I've mentioned that. There are just times that Duncan's pauses or sense of humor are really similar to Kevin's. It's really awkward seeing him every once in a while now and relating the two.

Other character I would love to see back? Lynn Echolls. I know, she's supposed to be dead, but wouldn't it be neat if she were in some sort of a program to escape psychotic husbands or if she were a spy or something? I really like her as a character, and her interactions with Keith are really great. I wouldn't mind seeing her again.

And I feel the need to use this icon because I rarely get to.

So there were some show/character question memes going around a little while ago and when I'm bored I'll find one and answer the questions myself. Randomly once I ended up with the question, "Who would you date from VM?" My answer? Keith. As much as I love Logan (and, oh, you know I do), he's got some serious issues. But Keith is wonderful and smart and witty and a dork and not traumatized by his parents. And, yes, I'm well aware that this is weird issues that I'd date Keith, but he's kind of like Wash on Firefly for me. Totally the type of guy I'd like to hang out with, y'know?

Okay, I can see what you're saying with Leo. There's potential there for him being an ally. Or even being someone Veronica has to work against. I think that would be interesting.

I don't think I'd heard the Kevin thing before, but now that you say it, that's kind of frightening.

It would be nice if Lynn wasn't dead. What would that do to Logan, I wonder? I mean, to an extent, if she did do it to get away from Aaron, she abandoned him. Poor Logan. :( But, yes, it would be cool if they could bring her back somehow.

I'd like to take your icon's question and raise it a "No seriously, Logan, why is your shirt still on?!"
