Oct. 4th, 2004 06:25 pmWork tonight. Fun with shelving and shelf-reading! Fun abounds! ::blank stare:: Right. You cannot understand the ultimate tedium that is shelf-reading. There just aren't words. The other night I decided to shelf-read in Spanish, just to get practice and make it more interesting for myself. Yeah, it only marginally worked.
I do love my job though! :)
American Lit was two hours too long. It's not *completely* boring, but it has a tendency to be slow. And mostly I'm interested, but I've never been into American literature like I've been into British literature. On Wednesday we're going to talk about Washington Irving's "Rip Van Winkle" and something by Hawthorne...."Roger Malvin's Burial", I think. I wasn't too in love with Hawthorne, and I feel ambivalent about Irving. He promises so much with his writing and then delivers so little. Or, at least, he promises so much and then none of the characters really react to it. I think it was Kasey who said today that everyone acts like everything's perfectly normal when Rip gets back from being mysteriously missing for 18 years. And they do! And people wouldn't! But I guess that's romanticism for you. ::shrug::
Anyway. Yes. I like being an English major. :)
Although I'm not entirely sure what I think of some of the people in that class.
Over the weekend I finished Eats, Shoots & Leaves by Lynne Truss. Loved it. Never thought I'd giggle over grammar, but I am just enough of a nerd to do it after all. I *highly* recommend it.
Natasha and I are going downtown tomorrow to get Farscape Season 4! eeeeeee!! yea!!
