annundriel: (Could Use a Drink (cplng))

Tonight was a lot of fun. Wednesday was Sara's 21 birthday, so I suggested we go out to dinner and drinks. Sara, Lisa, Natasha, and I walked downtown to Mexico at the top of Pacific Place and had a lovely late dinner. I had some excellent chicken enchiladas and a seriously tasty hibiscus flower margarita. YUM.

Then we went to Barnes & Noble and I got to collections of young adult books by John Bellairs. I remember the first time I heard of him was on the way to Mt. Spokane for a bike race with my cousins. We listened to The House with a Clock in Its Walls the way there and back and I really enjoyed it. That was sometime in elementary school. After that I remember checking out every book of his that our dinky school library had. Also, Edward Gorey illustrated most of the books, so at the very least they would have that going for them. I ended up in the young adults section looking for John Bellairs as something to recommend to Tris, but when I saw that they were coming out with "The Best of..." collections, I stared for a little while, grabbed a copy of each collection, and bought them for myself. That's a little piece of my reading childhood. And I think a couple of them are books that I wanted to read but was never able to find. I'm excited.

I also allowed myself to be talked into getting a membership with B&N. Now they can stop bugging me. I figured it was fine since here at school I'm much closer to one than I ever was at home. Plus, maybe I can save some money by looking at B&N.com instead of Amazon.
